My trip to Flores was the most exciting part of Indonesia for me.
Because I would finally see Komodo Dragons in the wild.
Something I have wanted to do for years.
My journey to Flores actually started in Bali.
And I traveled to there the cheapest way I knew how:
On a ship with 1000 other people.
It was chaotic and congested.
And it also took 32 hours!!!
(won’t do that again).
By the time I landed in Labuan Bajo I had enough time to get a good night’s rest and then it was back onto a smaller boat for the next 3 days.
We started the trip by going directly to Rinca and Komodo Island.
We arrived during mating season(didn’t know that), so there weren’t as many dragons as there would normally be.
But on Komodo we did see a huge dragon.
So that made the trip completely worth it.
The 2nd day consisted of great hikes and viewpoints like Padar Island.
Then we went to the nicest and cleanest water I have ever seen.
The 3rd, and final day, was more snorkeling and island viewpoints.
Then we were back in Labuan Bajo.
This was one of the best excursions I’ve been on.
Another night of good sleep and then it was back to being on another ship for 32 hours back to Bali.
*Most of this footage was spontaneously shot with an iPhone 5, sorry.*
The better looking footage was shot with a Nikon D600.
Any GoPro Footage was shot with a Hero3.
