Discover The Immaculate Conception Basilica & Grotto In Lourdes, France With St. Bernadette! A place of miracles and Marian Apparitions. Live mass is celebrated every day here. The Upper Basilica of the Immaculate Conception – Our Lady of Lourdes – was built directly on top of the Grotto of Lourdes, resting upon the rock of Massabielle. Lourdes 1858, 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Saint Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes. The stained glass windows in the basilica of the Immaculate Conception tell the story of the Virgin Mary up until the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Pius IX in 1854 and the Apparitions of Lourdes in 1858.
The upper church is the oldest built at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes and the rosary.
Consecrated in 1876, this basilica reveals a series of stained glass windows relating to the events in Lourdes as well as the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Built in 13th century ogival style, it was blessed on 15 August 1871 and consecrated in July 1876. In 1908 two pinnacles were placed on either side of it, connecting it to the Rosary Basilica.

La Basílica Superior de la Inmaculada Concepción – Nuestra Señora de Lourdes – fue construida directamente sobre la Gruta de Lourdes, apoyada sobre la roca de Massabielle. Lourdes 1858, 18 apariciones de la Virgen María a Santa Bernadette Soubirous de Lourdes. Las vidrieras de la basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción cuentan la historia de la Virgen María hasta la proclamación del dogma de la Inmaculada Concepción por el Papa Pío IX en 1854 y las Apariciones de Lourdes en 1858.
La iglesia superior es la más antigua construida en el Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y el Rosario.
