How to get to Easter Island… It’s confusing. | Travel Easter Island

Jorana the rapanui word for hello it’s a greeting you need to know this word before you come Here and welcome to Rapa Nui I’m so happy we finally made it here and after a 5-hour plane ride which uh was pretty smooth no wind no turbulence perfect I’ve got my uh L which is actually real flowers and uh we are here now ready to enjoy the island ready to explore and

We’re going to be talking about things that you should be oh that you should do and that you should know about let’s go for a real Adventure on the island a small island but a beautiful Island I I see license plates that say Chile I see carabineros that look like Chileans and uh I see bandas de Chile flags of Chile but besides that I feel like I’m in a totally different country right now I’m on the island of rapanui and I’m so excited to finally be here

Today I want to share with you a couple tips and tricks for getting to this island which sometimes isn’t very easy so let’s get into it today we had a crazy day but it’s all worth it because 3 years ago we bought our plane tickets to come here to Easter

Island rapi and finally we’re here the pandemic happened the island was shut down for 2 years and we couldn’t come here they then changed our plane flights three different times this year after opening it because there’s only a couple days that the airport is open I believe

Right now the airport is only open 2 days a week so that means only a couple flights that come into Easter Island if you want to come here you’re going to want to make sure that you can find a plane ticket and you plan well in advance for this trip and be careful

Because sometimes they change around the flight they might kick you off the flight there’s 15 little there 15 seats for the people here on the island and the rest of it is for tourism which is great for tourists like me but I wish they actually had more seats for the

People from here but we had a crazy kind of experience with all the documents that you need to get here to Easter Island the first thing you need to do is you’re going to want to get a hostel you’re going to get want to want to get

A a hotel you want to get a place to stay because you need this in order to have an invitation to be here on the island an invitation is basically your ticket to come here your invitation to come here is from that hotel so you need

To have some sort of a document saying that you are staying at whichever hotel or hostile that it might be and then you’re going to want to fill out the little document that’s right below check that out just fill it out very simple you’ll get an email back and then you

Just want to save that email to show them when you get to the airport the other thing that you need to do is if you don’t have your vaccines you’re going to need to take a PCR test if you have the vaccines you can just show them

Your vaccine card good to go no problem but then the last thing that I did was I bought all of our tickets to get to all of the different Parks here you can buy that right online before you even get here I don’t think you need to do that

But it just is nice to have all of that before you come here the Internet isn’t very good here depending on where you stay and cl doesn’t work here I think M star and Intel work here and that’s about it so I’m basically useless with

My cell phone which is kind of nice and liberating but make sure that you have a bunch of stuff everything that you need before you get here and then when you get to the airport you want to get there 3 hours beforehand whether that means staying at a hotel close to the airport

Or if you live in Santiago just getting there early is so so important because when you get there typically there’s one line for checking in all of your bags but to come to Easter Island there’s two separate places that you need to check

In one is with the S A which is a line on the left hand side in our case of the latam regular check-in so you have to show them all these documents links right below and then you’re going to get a little document from them it’s like a

Hand written piece of paper and you go to the baggage check-in line and our bag was like 26 kilos and they didn’t even care about that by the time you get to getting your bag there they’re just like all right here you go yep sounds good

You’ve got all of your documents good to go so just make sure you have all of those documents that are linked right below very very important and it starts with the place to stay here on the island so you’ve got all of that you’re all checked in now in the domestic

Terminal that’s where we are right now because we’re in Chile still you would think you would go to the domestic uh like the baggage scanner area but no the security checkpoint is actually down the stairs that aren’t marked so right behind the latam domestic area there’s

Some stairs that go down to a little secret passageway and they the payday are so the PDI are basically like the FBI of of Chief relay and so they have to check your documents they check your passport they wanted Moses’s birth certificate all these different things

They check over and uh then they put a stamp in your passport and you’re able to go if you’re from Chile all you have to use is your your Carnet so don’t have to worry about that so that took a little while they look over all these

Documents and I mean they’re just so many documents it’s incredible and you look through all these things and you finally go and you just go into the domestic terminal so the payday really just wanted to check your documents first and then you go to the domestic terminal with everybody else who went

Through the regular scan then that took about 1 hour so now luckily like sometimes it could take longer than that there are a lot of steps and a lot of pieces of paper that you need to have then after that then you go then then

Then then then then you go uh to your plane it’s really nice I mean it’s huge and there are screens on there Moses is Happy could watch movies play some games all this kind of stuff and the really nice thing is they have a little food on

There for you it’s a 5H hour flight it’s a long flight and a tip for you would be to sit on the right side window because when you finally after 5 hours of flying you get to the island I mean you don’t see anything until you get to the island

You actually fly around the island on the right side you’re going to see it and then you fly around and then you land on it so if you’re on the right side you can see the whole island which would be pretty cool we were on the left

Side so I didn’t see it but everybody on the right side seemed to be pretty happy so then you land and uh basically it’s really simple from there it’s a small airport I mean you just walk down the stairs to get off the plane and then you

You walk through you don’t have to do anything besides grab your bag and then once you have your bag you walk out and uh the person who is guiding you or the place that you’re staying they’ll come with a lay it’s a flower necklace that smells so good just F fresh flowers put

It around you and it’s just so beautiful outside the weather here is right around 78° every day a little bit of cloud but mostly Sun we’ve gone swimming yesterday with Moses and today we’re going to do some real exploring if you haven’t seen this part yet in the video oh my
