Les Alpilles are a small mountain range in southern France, containing some remarkable things to see:

Chateau des Baux
Dramatic fortress, (also “Cite Morte”), on spur of Alpilles mountains overlooking Camargue. Begun In 10th century. A birthplace of courtly love tradition.

Baux de Provence
Picturesque village at foot of Chateau/fortress.

Glanham
Site of Roman town includes “Les Antiques” dating from 30 BC. Triumphal arch built in reign of Augustus.

St Remy
Busy village associated with Van Gogh. “Circuit Van Gogh” tour provides copies of Van Gogh paintings with commentary, located around city.

Monastere Saint-Paul-de-Mausole
Sanctuary, where Van Gogh was treated, continues to use art as therapy for patients.
