Madrid is the third largest city in the EU and there is so much stuff to see here. The five days we spent only got our mouths watering for more. Give yourself time to just wander around the city and see preserved structures that still remain from when the Moors held control in the 9th century!
As always, we recommend taking a city tour upon your arrival here, to get your feet more firmly planted and learn about things you may want to go back to later. We suggest taking one of the free tours offered here, as they are in other major cities.
If you can’t find something you love to eat here, you’re doing it wrong! Spain is well known for the cuisine; especially tapas and wine! If you want to try some of the renowned Iberian pork, this would be an excellent place to dip your toes.
Finally, if you like fried calamari, treat yourself to a “bocadillo”; fried calamari served on a soft white roll that is so simple, yet sooooo good. Partner this with “patatas bravas” and a “Mahou” beer, and you have yourself one hell of an incredible, and affordable meal! Try “La Ideal” (shown in our video) just off of La Plaza Mayor, for great quality, on the go food!
