2024 Relaxing Tour of Bruges, Belgium | Begijnhof, Markt, & More | Travel Tips | Oh So Pom

Hello and thanks for joining me for the final part of my little european vacation in the last stop before heading back home to Turkey my husband and I visited Brugge Belgium for a couple of days Bru is located in the northwest of Belgium in the Flanders region of the

Country and it’s probably one of my favorite places in the world when I was living in France I used to visit the city often and I’m excited to share a bit of it with you I hope you Enjoy although it’s extremely handy to get to Brugge by train we had a rental car this time and found it just as easy to navigate I’d highly recommend if you’re coming by car to park at the train station that’s just on the outskirts of the city center first of

All the walk into the city is not not only Easy by foot but also really picturesque secondly the parking rate here is surprisingly affordable parking for 6 to 24 hours is only 610 and another 610 for an extra day we parked for two full days and nights and paid just over

€1 finally we felt safe leaving the car here as the parking garage was well lit at all hours had security cameras and a patrol and it was really clean from the train station there’s actually a free shuttle bus that you can hop on to that will take you to various stops

Throughout the city center I’d recommend this perhaps if you have a suitcase that you’ll be bringing but otherwise I definitely opt for the short walk into town since it’s so Beautiful there there are a few different routes that you can take from the train station to head into the city but if you have the time I’d recommend taking a stroll along the well-kept path that encircles the city here you can enjoy a stroll next to the Waterfront

And Below an umbrella of tall Trees near the South End of the city center you’ll come across minow water also called the lake of Love apparently couples that cross the bridge here together will experience Everlasting Love The Streets of Brugge are very friendly to pedestrians and there are enforcements on the number of of cars allowed into the city at various times of the day so traffic is quite Minimal Just near the lake of Love is the be this tranqu Oasis from the 13th century is surrounded by a church and white brick buildings that were and are currently home to nuns and while there were a few tour groups that walked through while we were there as soon as

They continued on their way this Courtyard was as peaceful as could be As you walk through brouge you’ll often hear the click clack of horses pulling carriages of tourists behind Them in addition you’ll likely see many bikes being used as a common form of transportation the flat land here lends itself well to cycling and there are a lot of shops throughout the city where you can rent a bike for a few hours or

For the day is a fun way to explore and get some Exercise Now I have to admit one of the biggest draws to Bru for me is the abundance of chocolate shops as a self-confessed chocaholic I have no plans on rehabilitating my addiction anytime soon so this makes Brugge a very important stop in feeding my chocolate desires all throughout Brugge you’ll

Find loads of chocolate shops selling all sorts of Belgian chocolates you can do your own research of which place you’d like to visit but I haven’t met a chocolate yet that I’d haven’t liked because Belgian chocolate is in general topnotch the Prine is a Belgian specialty featuring a hard shell and a

Soft Center but I don’t discriminate when it comes to Chocolate when in Brugge there is one shop that I do love to pop into though the old chocolate house like many shops in Brugge has a wide variety of chocolates that you can buy individually or by the kilo whatever you fancy whether it’s white milk dark they have

One in every flavor that you can imagine I just happen to prefer this shop for their cute decor and window displays and ladies working are always very Kind after picking out my first selection of chocolates on this trip we sat down at the adjoining tea room for a warm drink I opted for the 96% dark chocolate hot chocolate and the waiter tried to warn me that it was very dark but that’s just

What I was after and it was everything I could have dreamed of and more In general brge is a very quiet City and it’s not hard to find yourself alone on the street but there are some areas which always seem to be more crowded there are a few main thorough fairs with plenty of nice shopping and of course probably the most crowded area is the

Marked this large square is impossible to miss when you visit Brugge and while there are many Cafe and restaurants you can sit at outside I personally just like to take a look at the architecture of the surrounding Buildings And what takes center stage in the Mark is the 83m tall belf fry dating back to the 13th century this dominating Tower is accessible today for a fee and you can climb up the 366 stairs to the top for better views of the city if you’d

Like I’ve been to the top before so it wasn’t necessary for me to go again but it’s still impressive if you haven’t been at certain times and on certain days of the week there are even Bell concerts that you can Enjoy Just steps away from the large Mark is another Square called the Berg this square is smaller than the marked but it’s still just as beautiful and it’s home to the gothic style City Hall that dates back to the 14th century as well as many other historic buildings that are all worth a Visit For our two-day two night trip to Brugge we stayed in this great hotel that was perfectly located in the center of town just behind the belf fry Inn on the way to the canals the room was comfortable clean had some oldw World charm and even a view of the canal Like many other touristic European cities restaurants aren’t cheap and can easily add up mostly we just grabbed some simple ingredients at the grocery store and created our own little picnic lunches besid Ides I love grocery shopping so I find it fun to check out the grocery stores in other countries

And to be honest being able to sit outside and enjoy the sights of brouge was better than eating in I did however want to get a belan waffle and some fries while in brouge Waffle stands and to-go windows can easily be found throughout and instead of getting regular fries we tried out a restaurant called the potato bar one night and got a much more decadent version mine had

Chicken apple and a special sauce and they were by far the most delicious fries that I’ve ever had and honestly were large enough to be a meal in themselves and if chocolate fries and Waffles aren’t your thing there’s also no shortage of beer here I’m personally not a fan but I hear it’s

Good Bru is home to so many great museums and other historic points of interest and I won’t bore you with a list of all of them but one place that I hadn’t checked out yet was the Towering St salvator Cathedral this hard- toiss building is Bru’s oldest church and dates back to the 10th Century inside are some impressive works of Flemish art a massive organ and large tapestries Although I think pretty much every corner of Brugge is picturesque there’s no place I love more than this little Park area right behind the Church of our Lady it can be a little busier here during the daytime but I find that as soon as dinner rolls around the streets

Of Brugge empty and you can really enjoy your favorite spots free of people and this little area that seems to be plucked straight from a fairy tale is extra peaceful Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this little video I really appreciate it vacation might be over but I’m back in turkey and I’m excited to show you more of life here so please please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel and giving this video a thumbs up until next time Thanks
