Here I am taking you on a city walking tour of Cologne (Köln), Western Germany with some of its major city’s attractions and top sights. This walk offers one of the best ways of enjoying Cologne city’s beautiful Cathedral (Kölner Dom) and its shopping street(Schildergasse) during the pandemic in 2020 where traveling is difficult. I am starting this tour in the train just before my arrival in Cologne(Köln), then going quickly through the station and showcasing you the Cathedral(Kölner Dom) from the outside before heading to the Schildergasse Shopping Street. The long shopping street gives the city a distinctly flavor, lined as it is by cafés, restaurants, galleries, and shops on one side, in contrast to the mighty cathedral (Kölner Dom) in the beginning.
Cologne is the largest city of Germany’s most populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth-most populous city in Germany. With slightly over a million inhabitants (1.08 million) within its city boundaries, Cologne is the largest city on the Rhine and also the most populous city both of the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region, which is Germany’s largest and one of Europe’s major metropolitan areas, and of the Rhineland. Cologne is one of the most important commercial and cultural centers of Germany, home to numerous museums, galleries, arts and entertainment venues.
Located on the banks of Rhine River, North Rhine-Westphalia state, Cologne is both ancient and modern. It was severely damaged during the World War II.
This video covers the following city’s attractions: Cologne Cathedral (major landmark),
Rhine river(view from the train), Schildergasse street (shopping area)
