Exploring New Zealand – South Island Road Trip – Arthur’s Pass to Fox Glacier – Episode 2
If I give this correctly it means there should be four more people in the air so one 2 3 four to TI you’re a dramatic guys going to make how much to Bridge moves me cross it it’s Reassuring Here we are New Zealand’s West Coast not bad across the mountains in the back therei came all the way through these and now we are over here on the West Coast just some deer roaming in a field we are trying to figure out how to take shower there is a campsite across
The road kiwi Camp it’s called and they have paid showers but you have to get kiwi cash in order to use them and so we are at the BP gas station so we can get a kiwi key and then we’re going to download an app we’re going to load the key with some
Cash and then we’re going to be able to take a shower did you get the Kiwi key I got the Kiwi kiwi cash key kiwi fob kiwi fob all right more plastic for the planet step one done awesome now we need to get some cash onto our fob oh god what happened
To good old Cash Take a digital shower we’re going to pay for a shower with our [Applause] Bitcoin transaction successful I have put $5 on my kiwi cash balance we’re going to be able to Shower I found a picnic area it’s awesome Perfect [Applause] The sun is out wooo woo Sun’s finally out we’re going to go for a run let’s Go Ki track here ki ki ki ki K Nice Oh Right done nice work have 10 43 Yesterday we drove for quite a bit and we ended up at a campground right on the ocean we had a very very nice relaxing night at the campground today we drove about 30 km and we are now by France Joseph Glacier it’s pretty cloudy overcast so we may or may not see the
Glacier today which is fine this is the spot where the glacier used to come to right here and now it’s all the way inside this Belly This is a really pretty Trail one all right then go first wa wow oo that’s a teeny little Bridge all right here we go and the view is pretty nice waterfalls River Forest teeny Bridge well done welcome to the other side of the ridge Long Bridge wo to many waterfalls shelter cute little shelter very cute please come in to my shelter oh boy fancy he a rap everything that’s a very cute features on this Trail we had a couple of a fan suspension bridge and now a set of stairs these guys are quite creative
With their Bridges and stuff stairs and ways to get it out it’s really Fun what a beautiful hike it is muggy it’s hot it’s wet but beautiful and uh there’s tiny little waterfalls everywhere and uh thanks to our Solomon shoes we grip we grip we grip so there’s no slipping anywhere thank you Solomon this hike keeps on giving and giv and giv we’ve been climbing forever 2 and 1 half hours so the good news is I believe we are fairly close and also the entire way back is going to be downhill good thing both of us are fit as because uh this would be a
Challenging day otherwise I reckon but we had a lot of food before and food during and thank God our fitness is still pretty decent we haven’t trained for a while but we got this and I think we are really close to this Thing Put your hands in the air much to brid M when you cross it that’s reassuring [Applause] If I get this correctly it means there should be four more people in the air so one 2 3 4 5 you’re a dramatic think guy’s going to make it yeah he’s going to jump Over All right so we were about to camp at a campground or campside motel in town for $5 surrounded by about 75 other Camper vans and we we decided against it and we drove a little bit further down the road and uh we realized we were allowed to
Camp on the beach here for free so that’s what we’re doing tonight we’re going to be camping at the beach a little camper is over there there’s uh three other vehicles but other than that it’s just us the ocean there’s uh some sort of waterfall over there a
Lagoon and uh it’s not too shabby it it’s free and it’s awesome so this is a lot more my jam camping by the ocean so that’s 13 km of pure downhill let’s Go oh that one yeah that big one there a big bike Bowl I know
Last December, Petite Josette and I went on a 3 week road trip around New Zealand.
After landing in Auckland, on the North Island, we took a quick flight to Christchurch in the south Island where picked up a van and started our road trip.
Follow along in the second episode of this series where we go from Arthur’s Pass to Hokitika, Okarito, Franz Josef, Fox Glacier and Bruce Bay, in our beautiful Camper Van.
