I recommend Trivago to search the best price for hotels when travelling. When I booked this Mook Ing Lay it showed Agoda had the best price. We liked the location of this hotel as it was a 5 minute walk to the pier to catch the ferry and had a small supermarket just across the street. I’d rate Mook Ing Lay hotel 3.5 out of 5 overall, it was consistently reviewed 4.5-5 on Tripadvisor but felt that there were several maintenance issues that let the hotel down. Mook Ing Lay is one of the mid range hotel options on Koh Mook and we felt it didn’t quite live up to the reviews we’d seen online.
If you are planning to stay at Mook Ing Lay then I would recommend trying to find a way to book direct, or to proactively confirm your reservation in advance of arrival. We booked 2 nights but were told they were overbooked on arrival. We ended up negotiating a refund of our first night and the owner arranged another room elsewhere on our behalf. Despite the disappointment, we were happy with how the owner handled the situation. In hindsight the alternative room was actually better than Mook Ing Lay and can be seen in my vlog- (This place was called PK Family House and was a better standard as everything was brand new! It’s now available to book online)

It’s also really affordable so if you are looking for a cheap destination then it’s perfect for budget travel/backpackers. Whether it’s your first time to Southeast Asia or not, Koh Mook has something for everyone!
