No BS Reality as a foreigner living in Vietnam
[Applause] Oh N What up peep what up PE this is your boy travel explore Asia trying to give you a quick update of what’s been going on cuz you know it’s been a while since I actually put out a video I’m here on my favorite little spot here in dang um
Actually it’s one of my favorite one of my top five I should say I’m here on Dow Sand Island you know as you see on the sign right there it says Dow Sand 5 so five is this the street but Dow sand yeah basically I’m here on Dand Island
Which is Green Island translation in English Green Island you know this is lavender coffee you know and one thing I like about here on Dand Island SLG Green Island is it kind of reminds me of back in California you know um in Orange County where I grew up and uh so forth
So I come over here just kind of get away from the hustle and bustle of of denying because Vietnam could be very um overwhelming in terms of if if if you’re just traveling to Vietnam you know it’s it’s like it’s new it’s a new experience
For you but since you since I live here and I I’m been here six years you know it’s just you know it just gets a little bit um daunting at times gets really um heart and the nerves and the mind to really you know to when I come to like this
Thinking and doing something you know like I want to do YouTube like doing YouTube I should say like doing YouTube where you know I just want to concentrate and just talk to the talk to the audience talk to the public you know and um like I said you know I haven’t
Really put out a video in know why because I’ve been so busy man I’ve been like taking care of all kinds of stuff I’ve been um um um um preparing I’m actually preparing like some of you guys know or like I’ve mentioned in past videos that I’m actually moving to Europe um it’s
It’s going to take a while of course because it’s it’s I’m not just moving myself I’m moving you know my my wife to be and my stepdaughter so I got to prepare for that um I’m also going through a um a lot of personal issues
You know what I mean that I I have to deal with which I will discuss with you guys later on um I’m also becoming more and more of a full-time Hands-On dad with my stepdaughter because she’s getting older she lives with us you know and she’s she’s she she’s she’s a
Pre-teen you know and um Mom doesn’t really know how to deal with her very much and since I’ve already had teenagers now grown men I have actually adult children in my life um I have two grown sons back in America from a mix mixed relationship marriage shut up that
That I was in with my ex-wife my ex um ex-wife is Spanish um so my two sons are back in California um but yeah so I I I’ve been really dealing with a lot of stuff you know I’ve been you know like I said becoming more of a Hands-On full-time dad with my
Stepdaughter and she really really really and truly looks up to me she really have a um a love a deep love for me as being her dad because her real dad is an you know I’m sorry to say I’m not going to sugarcoat it I’m just saying her real dad is an and
She has nothing to do with him so basically I’m that you know I have to deal with a lot of stuff you know sometimes I have to scold her but I want to say scold I don’t SC like okay like my U like my like the wife to be you
Know my wife she she yells she’s the typical Vietnamese mom she yells and screams and and I’m like babe look you got to learn how to deal with this better you know I mean so I I sit my stepdaughter down I talk to her I
Explain things to her you know and so on and so on you know you know what I mean uh Chan you know so basically you know when it comes to um being a dad I got a lot to do now you know before was just I
Was just the guy you know with with her mom now you know I’m Dad I’m I’m you know everything is hey Dad hey that this hey that that so I’m doing a lot of things you know what I mean um also um I’ve I’ve been doing some traveling
When I say traveling cuz I get I got to travel to take care of some business you know so I’ve been you know traveling for the for January um all of pretty much all of January almost into February I was traveling and uh and and and and with
That being said you know I have to take care of business here and there to take care of this take care of that you know um so yeah so you know I’m busy I’m busy taking care of all kinds of stuff as a foreigner you know and as a foreigner
Living here who have to wait on certain things to get done um people people got to make phone calls yeah so it’s it’s been it’s been a very very busy time here for me since the year started which is a good thing you know also I got sick I ate something I
Don’t know what the heck I ate um you know so I got all that stuff to deal with in terms of I I broke out I had a bad breakout on the side of my face from you know from whatever I don’t if it’s from
Whatever I ate or or or it was just stress because I’ve been doing a lot of stress too and that’s another thing that don’t get talked about a lot when it comes to living abroad is the stress we got to deal with because you know we are foreigners here we’re not
You know we’re not locals we’re foreigners you know so we got a lot of stuff to deal with and a lot of people a lot of the YouTubers I should say when they talk about you know how great everything is they don’t talk about the downsides or the or the or the drawbacks
To what life is like here as a foreigner you know what I mean I mean yeah they they give you the perspective from a tourist tourist point of view of hey come enjoy you know and this is something I’m going always talk about in every video you know living abroad in
Any country is far different from being a tourist in that country so this is this is going to be a huge takeaway because this is something I’m going to drill in you guys head living abroad in that country is far different from being a tourist for 2 weeks to a month it
Doesn’t matter if you come here every year for 2 weeks to a month it’s still different you don’t know it until you live here here for a long period of time like myself or any other people any of the other foreigners that live in this country okay many of the other
Foreigners that live in this country I I think I mentioned before they may not have YouTube channels but when we get together and talk bro we talk about all kinds of crazy we talk about it’s almost like it’s like a Fest you know when I say a Fest
Meaning that we talk about all kinds of crazy that’s going on that we got to face with with with uh with with the women that we’re with with the with the with the drawbacks to everything to to the way life is just just every thing in general so don’t think we come
Here and we’re living here and everything oh yeah things are cheap and we’re just kind of relaxing drinking coffee every day no man we a lot of time this is the reason why you guys don’t understand that more of us foreigners who come here to Vietnam to
Live or move to Vietnam I should say to live end up leaving in the long run it’s because of all of the nuances and and this the the the everyday BS and the grind and just this the things that the dep there’s also something called depression
You know what I me we we do go we do go through expat depression here this is something I’m going to talk about in future videos because I’m kind of like going through it now go than little bit you know go ah go uh uh uh Uh night night night beautiful day you know but uh my limited Vietnamese so come over here I know she’s she’s diing a trash I think she’s collecting bottles or whatever it is um here all collecting bottles plastic ah Uh oh okay okay collecting all these things okay this what she’s collecting ah okay for me or for you oh okay okay okay find find some find some good stuff cuz people throw away all kinds of stuff here so she’s you know she’s she’s going to collect anything that she can and take
It in and she get paid for it man you know okay okay all right chiaia all right yeah you know so like I said you know it’s it’s like see you never know what you’re going to run into here right you never know what you’re going to run
Into but anyway so like I’m saying you know um um I just want to let you guys know that I got a lot of videos that I would love to make about life here in Vietnam from the perspective of a from From perspective of a foreign
One as what we go through in a day to day and I say we not just myself cuz you guys will think it’s just know just I’m talking when I when I make a video I’m not talking just about me I’m talking about myself and every other expert
That’s here because we do talk we do sit around and you know the other funny thing is we laugh you know okay we laugh at you guys you newbies who come to Vietnam and I will spe specifically talk about Vietnam because I live in Vietnam you know I’ve been to Cambodia I’ve been
To Thailand I’ve been to the I’ve been to u a couple other places who up kind of like passing through but in terms of long spending time there for like a week or more I’ve been to like Thailand and Cambodia and I’ve spent time in both those countries and you know but in
Terms of living I’ve lived in Vietnam for 6 years now going on seven okay i’ I did come to Vietnam much earlier in the in the past like uh 2 years prior but I was traveling back and forth because of my wife you know what I mean I wasn’t
Sure if I was going to live in Vietnam or not and then I end up um moving to Vietnam after 2 years of traveling back and forth so if you add the six years that I’ve actually been here along with the um along with the the the the two
Years that I came I was traveling back and forth you could possibly say I’ve been living in Vietnam for almost 7 years just about so yeah I got a lot of experience I’ve been through for a lot of and I didn’t come here as one of those foreigners
Like I said I keep saying this over and over I didn’t come here as one of those foreigners and bury my head in the sand and think I was in some Utopia bro I came in with um with experience because I grew up amongst a lot of Vietnamese in Southern California in in
In Orange County you know what I mean so that’s where I got a lot of my my my experience from you know I had an I actually unlike um you guys who come to be for to to meet a Vietnamese girl or a woman or whatever I was already dating
Vietnamese women back in California before I even came so I didn’t really come to Vietnam for the women I made a conscious decision to move to Vietnam because I married a local woman okay without really getting to know her I should say that’s a lot of story that we
Will talk about in the in in in the uh in the future but uh I I married a local woman I came to Vietnam on just to you know because again I had Vietnamese friends back in America and and you know they actually didn’t want me to move to
Vietnam I literally only have one one Vietnamese friend living in California now all the Vietnamese friends that I had that was living in Cal that’s living in California they dropped me like a hot potato because they looked at it as I basically stabbed them in the back and
I don’t respect the fact that they left Vietnam for a better life in America and they their family went through a lot and which I heard the stories you know I heard the stories okay I heard the stories from my friends and I have definitely have to say that you know now
That I’ve been here for a long time lots have changed yeah lots of things have changed but a lot of things are still the same you know so now I do understand what they’re talking about I do understand the perspective Ive of life in Vietnam as a as when it comes to
Foreigners I mean when it comes I’m sorry when it comes to um uh um locals you know so that’s the reason why now I’ve made a conscious decision decision to actually go ahead and move from Vietnam with my move with my um my wife to be and my
Stepdaughter so they can have a much better life you know what I’m saying so again it’s like saying and I and and I’ve and I’ve always said this and I will keep on saying it it’s far different from being a tourist who maybe come every year and
Visit for a couple weeks or a month or whatever and leave and go back than from someone actually living here because I live here day in and day out I go through the grind I go through the bull I see everything you know that’s going on good good and bad pros
And cons however you want to look at it so yeah just enjoy the amenities of of of want I say the am just enjoy the experience you know I mean because to really really be honest there’s not a whole lot going on in Vietnam you know
After two weeks that’s about it bro two weeks to a month like I say give it a good month you can probably pretty much see everything in a good month if if you even if you spend six months here you’re kind of pushing the envelope in terms of what to do because there’s
Not really much to do but you you get to see the country you get to hit you you may hit all the little tourist spots see see see all the little you know all the little you know all the little uh uh uh uh um creative I should say the creative
Cultural the culturally creative things that you can see here you know and then that’s it but aside from that I definitely have to say that um oh I was wondering for a second Jo uh I was wondering where the is my motorbike cuz I was going to park my
Motorbike over here by this uh by uh by the Yeah but I decided to park it over there on the other side all right bye-bye you know I was going to I parked it on the other side over there next to the um U Milo um coffee shop but anyway like I was
Saying uh Vietnam gets boring really real quick and if you’re here for 2 weeks you can see pretty much everything that you want to see if you if you really if you really schedule everything just right but outside of that you know come for the experience enjoy it have a great
Time go and tell everybody how much you love it right you know but it is what it is whatever you know I live here this is life you know what I mean and this is what I’m bringing to you reality of what life is like here you know it’s not it’s
Not it’s not it’s not like I’m living in some kind of freaking Utopia or some like that when I first got here when I was wearing the rosy glasses and and and I was all delusional about about what it is you know hey I I felt like I
Wasn’t a Utopia but now pretty much 7 years living here I’m not living in no freaking Utopia bro see what I’m saying so one love peace out and catch you guys in the next video I just want to give you guys a quick update you know um sorry that I
Really haven’t put out any videos and a number of my friends have hit me up and say hey man what’s up what’s going on are you okay yeah I’m okay you know what I mean like I said I’ve been really busy with my stepdaughter you know what I
Mean and just life in general and getting things done because again like I said I live here so I’m just really trying to make sure that I can really um um um um it’s it’s kind it’s not really hard balancing both it’s just that you know when when the okay when I’m done
Dealing with my with with life and I say okay it’s time for me to make a video now I’m too tired I’m kind of bored I’m like oh my God you know do I really want to make a video you know about about about what’s going on right now because
At the end of the day you just kind of want to relax with your family and just kind of chill so that’s what I’ve been doing you know what I mean um I just kind of just want to just want to make this video you know to let you guys know
That everything is okay I’m good you know I just been dealing with a lot of stuff trying to make sure that um my stepdaughter is is is is you know is cared for and everything because like I said I’m now a full-time dad again um to a
11-year-old um who demands a lot out of my time uh I’m also you know a husband to be so I got I got to deal with the with the wife’s with with the with the girlfriend who’s uh soon to be the my my wife uh so yeah so peace out one love C
You guys the Next a

Damn, I really appreciate the production value that you put into that minute long introduction to the video. It looks new, and refreshing. Wow, very slick intro to the video. OK, first of all, you limited yourself to knowing only those few Vietnamese people who can speaks English. Most Vietnamese people do not speaks any english. The Vietnamese people that only speaks Vietnamese are the people who are really worth getting to know. After 7 years, you can't even carry on a simple polite conversation with a little old lady on the street digging through trash for a living. I would be depressed too if I live in a country where I can't read the language, can't speaks the language, and can't understand what people all around me are saying. The other stress that I keep hearing in your videos is the constant stress about issues that can be easily solved by having extra disposable money to take care of issues that are stressing you out. TIV (This Is Vietnam) so money makes all parts of life easier by acting as a lubricant in the gear of the daily grind in Vietnam. You just simple do not have enough money my brother. Having double the money that you have now will instantly eases many of the bitterness that you have right now. I bet that if some rich billionaire was to transfer a million dollars into your bank account, all of your stress and bitterness will instantly disappear and you can easily live a perfect life with your adopted family in Vietnam without having to deal with the stress of moving to Europe. Vietnam is a wonderful country to be an expat in. It is not right for you and all the others bitter expats who had tried to do business in Vietnam and had lost both money and time, and are now trying to bad mouth Vietnam to any one who would listen. Look at all the successful and happy expats who have lived in Vietnam for as long as you. Guys like Eli and MRV came to Vietnam with a $ fortune already made and in their banks accounts. They learned how to communicate with the local Vietnamese in the local language, and they spend their time doing their hobbies, not doing a money making business that stresses them out. Those guys are perfectly happy after all these years living in Vietnam as expats.
Wow this area is beautiful! Where in Da nang is this? Looks safe and clean
Do you think living in Da Nang main area still gets bored really quick? I am planning to move and live in Da Nang this year?
Jesus… longest intro in the history of the universe. Starts 1:19.
How can you say for a long time like that? Do they use Visa every 90 days? How does that work with visa stuff?
Hi sir

Over 16 minutes into the video, and he hasn't mentioned what the drawbacks of living in Vietnam are … just keep repeating he's been through all the good and bad but no example of anything…
