Vienna Austria:
Vienna, Austria’s capital, lies in the country’s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. The city has a long history, as it is one of the oldest capitals in Europe, which is why it has an important artistic heritage. During the 18th and 19th centuries, it was one of the great musical capitals of the world, and in the early 20th century it was a mecca of Western philosophy and political debate, as well as one of the world’s leading cultural centers.
