Was very upset as as Ivan was too um you know that we were parting ways is very sad very very sad good morning okay let’s go to the main show shall we Let’s Get on Up and see the see the the team I’ll just say I will say um just oh
Hang on look just look down here look at this this this just fish we’re in 3 m 3 to 4 M of water beautiful Sandy Anchorage look at this these are all these little uh coral fish we were we were sitting over the coral this morning which is just over there
And uh seriously it’s just aquarium an absolute aquarium look at this just as stunning is that absolutely beautiful gentle breeze five six knots eight knots not great sailing but lovely lovely lovely so these fish go along and scaven along the bottom and just sort of um nibble at the
The sand 4 must be little bugs and worms and things under there okay I’m I’m heading upwards I’m heading north people we had a lovely afternoon on the island yesterday it’s very nice there they are look at them look we have Provisions look at these Provisions will you look at that
Oh we have tomatoes green peppers cucumbers locally grown cucumbers we’ve got some locally grown watermelon away look my cup of tea is ready to be poured far out forgot about that I’ll get back to that hello people good morning good morning we’re working we’re in the mold Lees and we’re not enjoying
It we’re inside oh my goodness Bill I’m just sending someu Bill $20 1999 thank you Bill very kind it’s a lovely morning here and we appreciate it we have I’m done so dian’s just finishing up his episode I am all dressed and ready to go into town actually love you love your
Dress got to be covered so I bought a few dresses in the Animas because there another place they like to be covered up Ian is Ian can you say hello oh yeah hello hello we’re back on the cheaper internet Rob wasy looks amazing Rob from o oh Rob
R from o hello rod from o actually we’re very lucky to be here aren’t we Robert we sailed across the Indian Ocean and then we almost slipped on a a banana peel when we got here oh yeah we went into town yesterday to get our Provisions then we bought the
Provisions back to the boat then we went back into town cuz there’s a cafe and you know we thought well we’ve got very few um haven’t really stocked up the L yet with fresh stuff so we’ll go and support the local economy there’s a little cafe in there and I think it’s
It’s only like a $8 to get a curry so we went in and they have no chef at the moment they were open only doing drinks yeah no food so um so then we came back again and on up so we were we made a big
Mistake in that it was the sun had set by the time we we left again and we don’t have lights on our boat but we usually carry on our Tinder and we usually carry a flashlight with us at night time and Rob had sh to get the
Flashlight CU we didn’t leave it in the tender while we were sailing and uh I didn’t get it I don’t know it was L meant for dickin but anyway yeah well nobody got it and and then it wasn’t really it was still light when we went
In so it wasn’t kind of thought about again until we were leaving in the dark and as we going out there there’s a little B blown a a line for the boats to go through the reef so we were following that to get to the the port starboard
Markers to then turn towards our boat and just as we got to the Porton starboard markers another boat with no lights on was coming in through the Porton starboard things and we had a split moment when we were on a collision course and Rob had to quickly divert but
On fortunately so boats travel um it’s American Road Rules yeah American Road Rules in in New Zealand we are on that side boats go like that so he should have been coming in this way we going out this way so Rob turned starboard but the guy turned to P so then we’re still
On a collision course yeah and we literally just at the last minute he turned the creek way yeah but it was super super close both we were both on the plane and it was a big fiberglass boat yeah they would have destroyed us they would have we would have been yeah
You’d have wondered why are they not doing a large morning decided not wouldn’t have heard from us man we wouldn’t we’ all been in if we’d survived we’d have been in a bad way talking about insurance yeah yeah so anyway wake up call always carry the flashlight with
You carry the flashlight with you yeah yeah yeah and maybe even bring some see we learn from these mistakes we’ll never forget the flashlight again so do you mind if I just pour my cup of tea on dying fruit I’m patched why don’t I take that off who walking backwards into the
M the boy I’m going to take you outside cuz it’s not windy today there shouldn’t be any um oh hang on do you want to show the good peeps the cup of tea I’ve made I’m sure they’re dying to see my poor look at that come on yes we shall always carry a
Light you see we’ll never forget again Rachel oh everybody people want they want to see how to pour a good cup of tea now I got this uh tea got from hospice devonport in Oakland devonport hospice is pretty good actually it’s got a lot of good stuff in it yeah and I’ve been
Looking for a decent teapot it because my mom used to make tea with tea leaks you know it’s it’s a bit of a Nostalgia thing I I think you know think about it you know I had wanted for a long time to get a decent that kept the tea warm
Teapot interesting stuff but here’s the thing you’re from you’re from a different age aren’t you you a cup of tea you got give it a bit of oxygen you got to get a bit of Splash going on there B oxygen into the oxygenate tea oh look at that that is
Good you cannot ask for what it’s a big mug to it’s a bit bigger than you’d normally get but you know red light returning says s yeah that’s right reded light hey they want to hear about the Tea how good it is they really do I know they do Rob loves
A cup of tea they do they love it they love it it’s good it’s very good quality it’s actually and next we’ll be watching some paint dry it’s actually a brand called mandra like the town in Southwest Australia mandra m a n d r a mandra and
They do an organic Brew I I think it’s growing up in Ken’s area um but anyway it’s very good if you’re Aussie I recommend it mandre get go away get away from the commercial big industrial monster corporates go for the smaller you know same same with any food item
Ex now we got these tell you yeah I did say we got these cucumbers from the local farm and we’ve got watermelons coming they’re just small watermelons just pick them yeah nice little they’re not monster watermelons like you get in the supermarket and they are beautiful
There’s a red one and a yellow one and a blue one and and the freshly gr just picked yesterday y yellow flesh one I think people have had enough of my cup of tea I think they’d already had enough before you started okay boys lines looking out there
Boys look at this the boys are into action recording another exciting I’m going to try and oh there is wind out here so cold and wet oh Clint I feel sorry for you in Paris it must be awful in Paris he is and he says it’s cold and
Wet the quasons I’m in quasons yeah you’ve got quasons just I get you’ve got panaka you’ve got French bread what are you complaining about the weather for we love par we love the food in France we put on 10 kilos while we’re in Paris M yeah this is the making of a thumbnail
You’re witnessing here yeah yeah the boys are making a thumbnail apparently wind noise wind’s good no noise I’ve got my hand around the um ready yeah to try and stop the wind here we go here he goes beautiful lovely how’s the water today so good it’s not a bad little patch that we’re
In hey um hang on oh sorry just going to turn on myself yeah but I put my hand over there it’sing it suzan’s watching it’s about midnight where suzan is no doubt others uh who are watching it’s at a weird time of the day right now here in local time it’s
Well it was 10:00 when we started 10:00 in the morning um yesterday we went in and well the officials came on board did the paperwork they were very chilly about five or six of them came on board yeah so quick very easy really quick compared to um Indonesia which takes
Days yeah know it was really good know nice T so Bernard says he can’t believe how clear the water is pretty beautiful amazing Rachel went for kayak this morning you did a little run didn’t you and yeah I went to the island I went for a run on the Main Street it’s so
Flat not a hill anywhere well it’s not very big island but um yeah I went for a a run down the main street I felt a little bit I’ll turn this to me and go inside cuz I am a bit worried about the wind noise so I went inside I was a bit
Worried cuz you know women have to be dressed modestly and so uh usually I would in the top that shows my shoulders but I had to find a t-shirt but didn’t and I wor my longest pair of running pads 1:00 a.m. Brandon thank you and went to run through town and I
Thought I hope I’m not being disrespectful but all I got was smiles and hello there weren’t many people about because it was like 6:30 in the morning but um yeah all I got was smart so I felt okay about that that was good
Very nice so I got to have a a bit of a better look than we did yesterday we only we stayed very much just in about a 500 M Square yesterday um but we’re going to I’ve got my dress on because we’re going to head back in again what are we doing today
We’re going to go and sort out places to go after the side going oh that’s right we’re going to get our get a few itinery got to get pling equipment where we can and can’t go there’s some islands that you have resorts on and they don’t want
They don’t want boats what any believe it can you come down a wee bit cuz I can’t get broken unless my arms grow longer there they go and I can’t hold it there forever yeah yeah so not not much planned for today and then tomorrow we’re going to
Move from here to let’s bring it over that way we’re going to move from here to um somewhere again quite local you can put it on the stand right well for putting on stand yeah we’re going to woo and there seamless P seamless there’s nothing
We’re going to put a stand up it’s going to sit stationary a there we go done she done um look at that probably didn’t even notice anything was going on there no come this way because it’s there’s no it’s in the sun um what was they saying oh we’re going
Yes there’s a several islands close by and there’s a bigger island over there that has more shops so we’re going to head over there um the road the road the village is very small there are 500 people that live live here I think it’s 500 35 something like that and uh it’s 66
People right you know it could it’s we could be anywhere in the world anywhere any tropical island in the world but they all have a different feel it certainly feels very different from it’s looks like Fiji but once you walk in land it’s not FG at all no um but it’s
Nice it’s oh it’s not not I’m not saying it’s not nice lovely motores but mainly motorbikes they do have they don’t have Tuk TOS but they have um they don’t have any transport I don’t think they get a lot of visitors here only boats transiting through it’s a place to to um
You know we can clear Customs here but you don’t people don’t tend to stay here very long because there’s not much here I don’t think they get visitors The Village shop was about the size of our cockpit almost wasn’t it a little bit big than our cockpit maybe
The size of our cockpit and our Saloon that was the size of the village shop and it was randomly spaced stuff was kind all it was funny yeah was all over the place but he sold everything he did sell didn’t he he had a lot for sale
Yeah yeah I needed to get some I needed to get some thread and he had thread for sale he had Plumbing equipment right right beside where I was looking for that um uh yes so we won’t be here long there’s another Island over there it’s got more shop oh where we’ve moved I
Don’t know where the Island’s gone over there and uh um and then we’re going to go south I believe there’s a lovely Island close by what are you getting thank you little black thing like a blackhe but it wasn’t thank you uh I believe just is it that Island
Over there there’s an island just right beside also that has a lot of sea life so we’re going toop over there what we went for a dive yesterday for L crayfish Lobster and um around the end point of the down the end there and um we W anyy
But there was a lot of fish life and um and it where the there was a drop off where it went out and then it just sort of disappeared Into Darkness and I saw this big like a really good sized shark it was about three must have been close
To 3 m if it wasn’t it was close to it and um it was like a reef shark but uh um but then because it was sort of just this you know shadowy I thought I saw a hammer so it might have been a hammerhead but I’m I’m
Not convinced that I think it was just a big reef gray reef shark which kind of can can be but um I know a guy who got bitten by one actually up in the mold that guy we met up in the mold um manua reef manua reef by
Hammerhead no no by a re shark really yeah that guy that horrible guy is that wasn’t a re shark himer what was it no he got hit he got bitten by no it wasn’t a reef reef nurse nurse Reef gray gray Reef a gray Reef yeah he was poaching anyway he was
Poaching he deserved it 3:00 in the morning so out that’s another story yeah so yes anyway so we won’t be here for much longer but it is beautiful and it is lovely to be here somebody said how can we afford how can we afford to go to the most
Expensive com did see that comment on yesterday how can we afford to go to when we’re watching our money yeah of course we’re watching our money because it doesn’t you know it’s it’s an expensive lifestyle to a point but you can do it you know if you watch your
Money you can do some amazing things for within budget and um this is not an expensive place if you bring your house with you we bought our house with us I mean you know yeah the yeah you can pay $1,000 a night to stay in a resort or
Nothing we’re paying nothing uh and then the the you know we’re buying our food in the village shop so that’s and they they don’t have two prices one foral PR yeah it’s local price pretty so anyway yeah it’s interesting how like I guess the interesting thing for me is
Or two things like it it does you know it does I can’t say I’m immune to not getting rolled by those sort of comments sometimes they do they do get you a little bit and but um it does also the interesting thing is how people can get
A certain perspective and just look into that and uh and you know it’s just not looking at the big picture and understanding just not understanding not doing research I mean the mald isn’t even in the top 10 of the most expensive countries in the world as we as we soon
Found out researching it ourselves Rachel have a look and yeah so it’s interesting it’s interesting I can’t Finn from Zar got his van yes we went we watched that episode little shout out yeah those two got on like a house on by and and Finn was really upset when when
We left when we didn’t well we didn’t leave they left to go well we did leave actually we the first but we didn’t follow them they were coming here to the Maldives and we wanted to we wanted to stay in Australia cuz we really wanted
To go to Southeast Asia but I was really surprised how oh yeah for he’s close I was really surprised how upset Finn got he was in tears when we yeah really nice and he’s a really they’re really nice kids Finn’s very you know Ivan and and
Finn wut are very well matched in you know in there he’s super bright thin super clever guy yeah and um and so sort of Ivan’s Yang oh that’s not fair I no I is super bright too so that’s Ian’s really quick anything for a j yeah that wasn’t a very nice joke
Wasn’t a very nice joke at all yeah well I joke is on me okay I’s only 16 okay then Ian’s only 16 at the moment bin is 17 bin turns 18 oh actually I will be 17 when Finn turns 18 so I don’t know Finn hasn’t invited him
Yet so you know he kind of has well he mentioned it but it’s not a formal invite so he might the way I hav he sort of Ian can be a bit um not be overly descriptive in his you know he sort of plays it down he plays
Things down a lot which is kind of a strength and a weakness so I I think he did get a formal invite no I don’t think he did anyway we’re probably not supposed to say anything no so um yeah maybe he will maybe won’t but you’ll
Have to keep watching you have to keep watching Finn you have to keep watching here see if Finn Ian disappears it would be nice only wor the only thing that worries me is that Fin’s a new driver so yeah EAS distracted and but you know actually on the other side all those
Kids are most welcome to come and join us anytime they want to as well and they know well I think certainly Finn knows that we’ said that to Finn by yeah it’s Kate most lik any time yeah I think our boat is their boat is a lot bigger than
Ours I think they’ll they’ll struggle in a much smaller space we’ll see oh no Keith when he’d come over he’d Lounge across the saloon he’d lay across the around the he’d make himself he had no problem with that so keep yeah but not live he would visit he didn’t live with
Us so yeah he would though would he he come here how’s it going you know like colorful all right I think we’ve talked her now we I’ll give you one more view of that lovely water with the boys in it okay so and then we shall say goodbye and I apologies my apologies
Actually you car um apologies I didn’t um go through yesterday’s live chat to get any questions and here comes the boat I think was the boat that came in last night we nearly oh there’s a stingr right right right right sting can you see the sting oh
Just just over the car you lost he right close to the surface though it’s one of those beautiful spotted ones uh I don’t know if you’re seeing that as he comes back into the sand you’ll see him then comes back into the sand no he’s
Not oh there he’s go now he goes and Dives he dive down h no you can’t see it anyway he’s off you might see oh he’s coming up he coming anyway you see a black patch wind noise oh here he comes he’s right at the surface there’s wind
Noise now put your hand around there oh yeah sorry no not around the that the wrong hand so that boat there I’m pretty sure is the one that we nearly crashed into last night this is scary okay there’s the sting anyway okay back to Rachel I was going
To tell the boys that’s okay we’ll just say goodbye and I don’t I don’t think we’ll do a live tomorrow will we no oh no well I don’t think so oh he’s oh this is CH up you oh okay di was just do CH it we do a live next week on Wednesday
How’s that we do live on Wednesday next week Wednesday next Wednesday we make it should we make it a weekly thing yeah weekly live on Wednesday on Wednesday we’ll put out our episode on a Sunday and then a a live on a Wednesday a little what do you guys
Think of that Wednesdays same time does that sound like a plan sounds like a plan I reckon is that sound like wind noise put your hand back no there’s no wind here hey um by the way um what was going to say no get it all right I don’t I don’t like saying

BACK STORY
In 1997, after rowing at the Atlanta Olympics, Rob rowed a tiny 7m (22 foot) plywood boat 2,500 miles from Tenerife (Canary Islands) to Barbados (Caribbean). It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race.
Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob’s 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel’s non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of.
The plan? To sail around the world.
Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz

Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa 🌍
Catching the replay. We were in our tornado shelter during the live.
Lovely broadcast❤
From Perth Australia 🇦🇺
Have another great day in the Maldives. Now I have to wait until next Wednesday! 😢
How beautiful! Take care you all!
Scary, Glad you made it back safely. Enjoy the islands! I bet those watermelons will taste better than ever. 😃
See Rob, you should have stopped off at Ceylon to pick up a bushel or 2 of tea 🙂
Good dive, I'd give it a 6.
Yes to Wednesday Broadcast AND Full Episode on Sundays Please.
🙂
French Polynesia and outer Caribbean will take expensive to the next level I'd imagine.
Any chance you can do the live streams a couple of hours later? Just for my own benefit (and other East coast Australian viewers and workers) 🙂
Hi there Jilll from Paihi
I so love love the water there , be so good to see you live again next next Wednesday. Enjoy enjoy I’m jealous of the boys swimming in that water .
The person who came across as negative definitely needed to do their own research, chin up guys there is plenty of us who love watching you and totally get it ❤
I've been to the Maldives 5 times for diving. There are some absolutely amazing dive sites (in the north, Baa Atoll) and in the south (Laamu Atoll). The central atolls are average (and too expensive) at best…
The Maldives are expensive – however, when you're on holiday, with others cooking for you, etc., it's all a matter of how you value your time.
and… blue spotted stingrays are both common and boring. That may have been a spotted eagle ray, much more interesting.
Best of all you’re all together for the time
Obviously Robs got a passion for Tea….surprised he didnt stop off in Sri Lanka to pick his own tea
If it helps, I personally would prefer to travel at your pace rather than the zatara boat
You need a metal teapot & a tea cozy for a good cuppa tea!! When you're in Cape Town get some Rooibos tea.
Good grief… milk before the tea. Madura/Mandurah. Close I guess…
Live everyday
Good morning 0703 hours here Ontario Canada. Great video and WoW what a scenery to wake up to.
Yes I saw the Sting Ray swimming in the water hard to see at first, but then saw it moving.
I guess we wait and see what Ivan and Finn Whittaker do.
I would have enjoyed seeing you live, but times not working to my sleep cycle.
Not tomorrow, but following Wednesday will catch your live again I guess after I wake up.
Rachel beautiful dress you are wearing to go on land.
Must be so nice to get fresh produce grown locally.
Looking forward to Kiwi Boys video
Catch you later cya
What a beautiful anchor site! Can’t believe the color of the water, it must be unbelievable in person! It’s been so wonderful to follow you along your journey! I wish I could have watched live everyday but only made it to 2, but it was the first thing I watched when I woke up! God speed and safe travels!
As weak as dishwater that tea – you should be able to stand your spoon up in it…..
Thanks for sharing
Coffee ☕️ time 😊
⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵ ⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵
You gave me a little thrill yesterday just by saying "Hi to Ian in Perth, WA." Amazing that we are able to immediately communicate with boats at sea and get a response in real time. Glad to see you safely arrive in the Maldives.
“Oxygenate the tea”
Love these lives!!! Safe Travels Great job crew!!!
Love that water, reminds me of the Caribbean.
Wow, what a view and the water is sooo clear. Love to see some diving. Thank you for Sharing with us! Appreciated
What an amazing anchorage. I have just arrived back in windy, rainy Jersey after an amazing 3 months in Thailand. Wish I was back in a sunny climate!
Have fun in the mallies and remember never wash your teapot out with soap, the pot will make the taste better. And that tea needs another 2 bags in it 🙂
Hi, from Whanganui, I always watch after the live streams and love watching your adventures.
2 lessons actually, carry the flashlights and listen to the Captain😅🫡
You seem to be atracted to bumpy arrivals😂
Nice fruit, indeed!!
It was cool to watch the "behind the scenes" for the KB vlog… Great dive, Declan! But Rachel, you cut when Ivan was about to jump😂
Can't wait to see the vlogs around the villages and islands.
Beatiful end of the live vlogs, with that string ray, and Rob's clever and truthull sentence, "Life is adventure!"
Safe & fun stay! I'll be alert for nex week live, hopefully I can make it.
Hello
