Explore Ghent, Belgium and walk with me inside the Cologne Cathedral, Germany
Good morning and welcome we are in the beautiful city of Gent Belgium. Today we are taking a stroll through one of Belgium’s hidden gems Gent is located in the heart of the East Flanders, it is a city with a rich history and pictures charm,
Join me as I explore. Behind me is St Nicholas church with its exquisite gothic architecture, this medieval masterpiece has been a symbol of Gent for centuries. The church has its beginning in the early 13th century and is one of the oldest and most prominent landmarks in Gent[Music]
We also took a quick stroll on the medieval port of Gent a vibrant hub of activity along the Leia river. This port dates back to the 5th century when Gent was the center of the wheat trade. Also,
Most of these current houses you see on the other side date back to the middle ages; however, they were modified and restored in the 18th and 19th century. Our final destination here in Gent is the magnificent Gravenstein Castle. This imposing fortress,
Leading back to the middle ages, stands proudly towering over the city. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to go inside, but I’m sure it’s step into the world of nights dungeons and historical [Music] intrigue. 1996. It is a roman catholic cathedral church, and is the largest gothic church in northern Europe. So we’re inside the Cathedral, it’s an impressive impressive site the cathedral was designated as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1996. These mosaics on the floor are incredibly complicated and detailed with thousands of pieces that just intertwine with each other. This is so [Music] beautiful. I left this Cathedral with a smile and a satisfaction knowing that I have seen one of the greatest architectural achievements,
