France – Provence – Lavender Fields Ocean
We started from Avignon. This time, our destination is the lavender-filled fields. Called the Sault region. It takes about an hour by car. We arrived at a mountain about two kilometers high. The guide said that the lavender fields are just over this mountain. We are now standing on a mountain.
After crossing this mountain, we will reach the lavender fields below. You can’t see any traces of lavender here. But the air is filled with a lot of fragrance. The guide just told us she doesn’t know where this fragrance comes from maybe it’s blown over from below by the wind.
I said this must be a gift from heaven to this place. Do you all see it? The entire area below is covered in purple lavender! After crossing the mountain top, we finally saw the long-awaited purple ocean. Provence has three main lavender-producing areas: Luberon region Valensole region
And the Sault region we visited this time all have fields with dense lavender. Rows and rows of neat stripes like rolling waves unfolding in front of us. Everyone, take a look. This is the most famous lavender in Provence, France! Lavender is native to the Mediterranean,
And it is now grown all over the world. The best variety is Provence lavender. Look here, the wind is rustling the lavender it’s as if every plant is greeting us. Hello… no, wait, I should speak French. Bonjour… Bonjour… From the end of June to August is the flowering season of lavender in Provence.
Provence lavender blooms romantically, The entire Provence seems to be wearing a purple coat. The air is filled with the scent of fully bloomed flowers, and the whole region becomes romantic because of it. This lavender plant has one, two, three, four, five five flowers blooming, while the others haven’t bloomed yet. Why is that?
Why is the harvest so early? With differences in altitude and the surrounding environment, different lavender varieties have slightly different blooming periods. In the Sault region, the lavender blooms right in August. Whenever summer arrives, one field after another of lavender is covered with purple flowers like stars,
And the air is filled with the fragrance of lavender. I just picked a lavender flower, I’m placing it here, I’ll take it back with me. Lavender loves sunlight, and well-draining soil. In southern France, Provence, there’s plenty of sunshine year-round, with significant temperature differences between morning and evening.
The ground here is covered with gravel, and the geological and climatic conditions are ideal for lavender growth. Lavender is obviously a flower, so why label it as a herb? According to legend, Saint Mary once hung the clean clothes of baby Jesus on lavender,
And since then, lavender has been associated with purity and the right attitude towards life. Where does the fragrance of lavender come from? Do you all know? The entire lavender plant is full of oil glands, just a gentle touch with your fingers will make it burst, and the fragrance will spread.
It is said that lavender not only has a continuous fragrance but also has the ability to repel demons. People have always seen lavender as a symbol of purity, tranquility, protection, gratitude, and peace. Smells so good… I touched this lavender, and now my hands are filled with the fragrance. Bonjour… Bonjour… How are you…?
