24hrs on New Japan Airlines First Class | Asia – USA

today I’m flying Japan Airlines for 24
hours in their new first class Suites
starting in Thailand and flying for
nearly 10,000 miles all the way over to
New York City so long in fact that we
need to stop in Tokyo to change aircraft
the second leg gets even better where
I’ll be in the world’s newest first
class sues launched just weeks ago now
this is far from cheap retailing over
$113,000 but you’ll be joining me every
step of the way from the huge beds in
the sky to $2,000 a bottle champagne and
even dining on puffer fish with that
let’s pick up our story in
Thailand well hello there and welcome
back to the channel and indeed to
bangkok’s super busy international
airport so begins our 24 hours in first
[Music]
class here we are then the Japan
Airlines premium check-in unlike the
rest of the terminal it’s pretty quiet
here and within moments check into
formalities are
[Music]
underway with my boarding pass issued
should we head over to International
departures to pass through security it’s
also worth noting that my ticket gives
me access to the fast trck facility
which is most appreciated
tonight Bangkok Airport is huge and
happens to have an incredible selection
of lounges to choose from gal even have
their own Outpost here so let’s head
over and check it
out
this is J Sakura Lounge for both
business and first class
passengers with ample seating free
flowing drinks and alicart dining we
simply must indulge in a Japanese
Curry it’s not all too long before
boarding is announced so let’s head over
to F gates to board our first of two
Japan Airlines first class
flights
it seems that also this is a bus gate so
rather than a Jet Bridge we LED out to
the apron to catch a Highway’s business
class bus to our
aircraft here we are then our
18-year-old Boeing 7
300 let’s waste no time and get out the
Heat and up the stairs into the aircraft
I’m welcomed warmly and directed over to
my
sweet we’ll start by stowing my case up
in the overhead
bin and my bag under the seat so our
aircraft home to 244 passengers across
four classes of travel we’re about as
far forwards as you can get as a
passenger in one of the eight first
class
Suites if traveling solo you’ll want one
of the window seats and I’ve gone for
one alpha on this
occasion
[Music]
for now as the last few passengers are
loaded let’s get comfy and boot the Tims
off and put on the provided gal
slippers now to get my seat belt
securely fastened as the safety video
begins to run keep your seat belt
fastened whenever seated in case of
sudden
[Music]
turbulence
I’m sure you’ll have guessed by now that
we’re heading to Japan over the next 7
hours we’ll fly some 3,000 M arriving
into Tokyo T airport tomorrow
morning as we reach altitude and the
seat belt sign is Switched Off we’ll
quickly take a look at the menu offered
tonight and it looks like I was WIS to
eat in the lounge it’s rather
disappointing champagne however looks
really good anyway let’s go and get
changed into the provided
[Music]
PJs
the lavat Tre is spotlessly clean and is
well stocked with various amenities
including these pricey Cosmetics I’ll
fold down the dressing step what a great
idea by the way and get my pajamas on in
my absence the lovely flight attendant
has turned my sweet down for me complete
with comfy duvet and even the option of
a hard or soft mattress
[Music]
topper anyway I’ll catch you all in the
morning now
[Music]
right well it was short but sweet I did
manage to get about 4 hours of sleep
we’re about to start our descent into
Tokyo so I better get a move on and
change out of these
[Music]
PJs now to get the Tims back on along
with my seat belt as we make our Final
[Music]
Approach
[Music]
welcome to Japan oh how I wish I was
having more than just a brief layover
here I love this
[Music]
country be lying if I said I wasn’t a
little tired that flight was bit too
short to get a proper sleep but anyway
we’re now connecting to the much longer
flight so let’s do just that and go and
check out the J first class Lounge to do
this we’ll need to pass through airide
security which unexpectedly takes quite
a long time nope there’s no fast track
here but worry not with through in about
25 minutes and into the main Passenger
Terminal let’s go and check out the
aforementioned Japan Airlines FirstClass
Lounge
then
spanning two floors this is one of the
largest lounges I’ve experienced outside
of the Middle East so here’s a Whistle
Stop tour of the
facilities there’s a main dining room
serving up buffet style snacks and made
to order salads Curry and
ramen there’s a special area called the
Red Room which offers a Sho Shine
Service table Foos bowl and even a
section full of Aviation memorabilia
which I absolutely love
before we head to the separate sushi
restaurant I must quickly freshen up
with a
[Music]
shower now the sushi this is an entirely
separate restaurant which no one seems
to know about I think I saw about two
other passengers in my time
here another scan of the QR code and I’m
presented with a variety of options and
literally within moments it’s freshly
prepared by their dedicated sushi
chef as to be expected it’s absolutely
phenomenal it’s that time to experience
the world’s newest first class flight so
let’s head back down into the main
terminal and walk over to our
gate3 here we are then our box fresh
Airbus a350 delivered a matter of weeks
ago to jel they currently have two of
these in their Fleet operating exclusive
exclusively to New York’s JFK boarding
commences in a matter of moments and I’m
invited to board in group one the
excitement is certainly building and I
cannot wait to see what this is actually
like as we walk down the Jet Bridge to
our aircraft my phone interrupts my
filming with yet another phone call from
a company I’ve never heard of or asked
to contact me do you find your day
getting interrupted with the same it’s
not solely on my phone either it’s also
from my letter box at home this can
happen when your personal information
has been bought and sold online and can
be tricky to get removed once it’s there
that’s why I’m really grateful for
today’s video sponsor incog they search
online for my private data and within
minutes found scores of websites with my
details on them and had it removed
instantly you can see once you do
literally anything online your data is
probably out there somewhere data
Brokers collect this information and
charge companies a hefty fee to get
access to your data in the US there’s a
massive number of sites where people can
pay to get access to your name address
social security number and even your
financial information incog puts an end
to this problem so whenever a new record
pops up they’ll take care of it for me
automatically giving Peace of Mind
what’s more incog are giving you a 60%
discount when you use my promo code
track trendy at incognit dcom track
trendy shall we get on board then I’m
warmly greeted by one of the lovely
flight attendant and invited to turn
left passing through the business class
cabin yes will also be taking a look at
this and into first
class this is well
huge
like many first class cabins Jal have
removed the overhead bins in favor of
inite storage there’s enough for two
carry on cases though I did find this
needed some maneuvering to fit both of
mine I’m promptly offered a predeparture
drink and warm towel I’ll wait for The
Punchy champagne I think served after
takeoff within a few moments I’m invited
to fasten my seat belts as the safety
video begins to screen on the massive
43in 4K
TV please turn them off or set them to
airplane
mode We Wish You a pleasant
[Music]
flight so our flight plan will see us
taking off from Tokyo and flying for 13
hours and some 7,000 M over to New
York it’s not all too long before we
reach our cruising altitude of 38,000 ft
and the seat Bel sign is
extinguished this also means we have
some time to properly look around this
brand new aircraft with space for 239
passengers over four classes I’m sat
right up the front in a cabin which has
an unorthodox 111 conf deoration this
means that my Suite 1 kilo is incredibly
spacious and among the roomiest in the
sky in fact the suite itself even States
a maximum occupancy of three passengers
other features include a small mini bar
and slide out storage for headphones and
Chargers talking of which there are
ample USBC usba a and power outlets in
your Suite along with a wireless
charging pad standout quirks aside from
the Nifty control panel for the windows
have got to be the built-in headrest
speakers which means essentially there’s
no need to wear headphones well aside
from being a cool feature to be frank
I’ll sooner wear my noise cancelling
headphones but credit where credit is
due for the
Innovation I make it time for some food
let’s take a look at the extensive first
class menu which has been provided to me
in this lever
[Music]
folio with my order placed let’s waste
no time in getting the trade table out
and set up for well I guess um lunchtime
who knows at this point
with my table set some champagne arrives
at my seat this is no ordinary champagne
it’s the most expensive I’ve ever tried
introducing Salon
2013 and the taste a bouquet of white
flowers lime Blossom and bergamont zest
I too can read a
label first up I’m served in a moose bu
of cure salami cashews and carrot this
is by the way the only non-japanese
option I’m being served today let the
culinary Adventure begin for my first
course it’s almost easier to look at the
diagram again from the menu but here
goes steamed sea urchin grilled Blowfish
Blowfish skin and shrimp given that
Blowfish is incredibly poisonous unless
it’s prepared by a licensed professional
I’m a tad
[Music]
apprehensive it tastes incredible so I
guess the risk is uh worth it next up is
a soup dish with a duck and chicken
dumpling
would it really be a TR trainy Video if
we didn’t feature caviar not in the
traditional format but I’m served
steamed Rockfish with a healthy serving
of Mossel caviar I’m told by the flight
attendant I’m to mix the caviar into the
dish and the
result most Pleasant
actually now for the main course of deep
fried tilefish seasoned rice with minced
porn and miso soup this really has been
quite the Japanese food tour and I’m all
for
it we’ve made it to dessert and to
compliment I’m offered some delicious
queen of blue tea brewed with Taiwanese
tea leaves and apparently named by Queen
Victoria ah of course my coconut
[Music]
Moshi well that was out of my comfort
zone a bit but I’m happy for it would
you believe not a steak in
sight
[Music]
with dinner out of the way I’d quite
like to take a peek at J’s brand new
business class 54 fully closing Suites
fill two cins of this aircraft in a one
to one layout it’s a competitive product
featuring a fully flat bed the same
headrest speaker technology with
underseat storage and a slim wardrobe
but let me know what you think down
below given I had such little sleep last
night I think it’s probably time for an
afternoon nap let’s head over to one of
the two bathrooms at the front of the
cabin and get changed into my
PJs it’s not the glitz and the glamour
of Emirates or etti hads but it’s
compact yet practical with more luxury
Cosmetics along with a well stocked
amenity
kit right let’s get
changed much better join my absence the
lovely fa looking after me has turned
down the suite ready for sleep
[Music]
let’s get my clothes stowed away safely
in the suweet built-in wardrobe get
those slippers off and hop into
bed I’ll see you all the other side of
the International Date
[Music]
Line good morning for the second time
today we’ve just made landfall over
North America I’ve really no idea what
time I feel it is but I’m surprisingly
packish the snack menu is well better
than some Airlines dinner
[Music]
menus with my tray table set up for my
main meal shall we see what I’ve gone
for first up of course I’ve had to go
for some
[Music]
Ramen and after another glass of the
Divine queen of blue tea I’m served a
Japanese favorite the pork cutlet
Sando meal service out of the way and
with still a few hours of flight time
left should we check out the inflight
entertainment controlled by your
personal tablet you can navigate through
your massive 43-in TV effortlessly
whilst the inseat speakers are cool I
far prefer my own Bluetooth headphones
[Music]
here
[Music]
I’m notified it’s not all too long
before our Final Approach into
JFK time to get my clothing out of the
inseat
[Music]
Wardrobe put my slippers on and head to
the lavatory to
change whilst I’m getting changed should
we talk price now if you fly directly
from Tokyo to New York on J new first
class this is going to set you back a
cool
$113,000 I of course didn’t pay that by
starting in Bangkok I booked this
journey for
$9,400 however you can book this on
points for significantly cheaper they’re
just pretty hard to snag for example you
could use 80,000 American Airlines miles
if and a big if you can find
availability with my clothes back on
it’s time to settle back into my seat
ready for
landing most importantly of course we’ll
need to get the Tims back on
[Music]
[Music]
there we have it 24 hours in Japan
Airlines first class thank you so much
for watching and I’ll catch you all
again next

  1. Will, I really like your videos. Professional, informative and charming. But I find thus difficult to share as I am a fan. But please just talk normally. Conversational like when youโ€™re discussing the journey with your family. The sing-song narration gets on my nerves and I have to use close captions. Apologies for any offence but your natural voice is great.

  2. Why does nobody – NOBODY! – review the foot room in 1st & Business. My biggest gripe with all business class flights Iโ€™ve been on is the foot room with the seat fully flat. Every time I turn over my feet drag because there isnโ€™t enough space. Iโ€™ll be happy to fly any airline that fixes this.

  3. Iโ€™m from u.s.a I want to go to Japan and meet beautiful Japan woman and marry here and stay in Japan for rest of my life. One can only dream. ๐Ÿ˜ซ

  4. 13:29 One unfortunate flaw with the new JAL suites seems to be the tray table–it looks like you are trapped in your seat when the table is unfolded and set, so you can't get up to use the bathroom during a meal if you need to. Also how loud do the headrest speakers get? What if the sound bothers other passengers?

  5. Mate, enjoy ya vids, BUT now its time to do flights in normal economy for us that cant afford the extras. Seating space people next to you foods the usual.๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Thank you for this amazing review would love to fly JAL and try their business class and first class.

And I have a question do you think that seat headphones are particular?
Would you hear anything from the seat next to you ?

  7. Great video, as always, Will. Probably the best productions on You Tube! Two questions. Am I right in thinking that the way the tray table pulls out, you're trapped in your seat/suite until after meal service and the table is stowed again? And secondly, what style are your Timbs? I can't see then online and they look so comfortable. :). Cheers.
