Had an overnight layover in Frankfurt as I made my way to Sicily and it was a little over 24 hours spent in the city. I landed at 9:55 AM and left the next day at 8:20 AM.

I took a 30 minute train ride from the airport, it was super easy as it was in the lower level of Terminal 1. I stayed in the outskirts of the main area of Frankfurt at a hotel called The Pure. It was however located a block away from the red district area which I didn’t realize so I didn’t explore by myself at night but the day time was fine. The hotel was a few blocks from the train station so I just walked. This was rather far from true city center so that would have been 1 thing I changed, but it allowed me to walk around and see more of the sights which was a nice benefit.

Thanks to TikTok I found multiple videos on what I should do whilst in Frankfurt. Here is what I did:

1. Drank Apfelwein  (the local sour, flat cider)
2. Eat Grüne Soße (green sauce: sour cream, oil, vinegar, mustard, salt, and hard boiled eggs) with a Frankfurter Schnitzel.
3. Walk around Old Town – Römerberg
4. Cross the Eiserner Steg Iron Footbridge aka the Love Lock Bridge
5. Visited Cathedrals
6. Walk down the Main riverfront

Unfortunately it was a Sunday so many stores and shops were closed but I still had a great time and soaked in the beauty.

While I was back in the airport I also managed to snag one more apfelwein with a Frankfurter Würstchen – this smoked pork sausage. AMAZING snap!
