remember I used to go to conf in Korea

this is Russell Mack we’re going to the
crypto
conference in Hoi Min City in
Vietnam I forgot the name do you
remember the name no we don’t remember
the name but it’s it’s a it’s uh we’re
in we’re in March right now it’s pretty
early for crypto conferences but we’re
we’re uh you know trying to collect fiat
currency as I’ve said before
so we’re going to check it out and see
how it goes we’re just pregaming right
now cuz it makes it easier to talk to
the
Muppets and um yeah if you guys want to
bump shoulders with people who are on
there on their purpose on their
mission people you can get along with if
you watch my channel you you know who
I’m talking about then you should go to
these conferences cuz that’s how you can
meet these
people
so we’re at the um southeast Asia
blockchain
conference bitcoin’s on a bll run right
now so everybody’s here trying to make
some money but it’s more important than
the money it’s about the means of
exchange and if you centralize the means
of exchange then you one one person or
party will always have authority over
the means of exchange which leads to
corruption which is the main problem of
the world now so the the purpose of this
conference is so people can learn more
about Bitcoin and how decentralized it
is so that no one person can control the
means of
exchange so that’s why we have this
conference going on now and me and Eden
here we’re about to go in and try to
find some clients looking good people
are coming in and out and yeah we’re
about to see what’s up

hi I’m on Tran I’m uh the country
manager for Southeast Asia but here
being up right now at the super team
fruits for the gate.io conference uh I
guess the question is why is salana
superior to to ethereum uh you know B
chains are great but uh We’ve chosen
work for salana but a lot of people
choose salana because it’s just faster
uh it’s cheaper uh you can get uh more
transactions per second and basically
each transaction cost costs as much as
sending an email out or even less and I
think at the end of the day you know if
you want prod in the hand of
consumers right they’re always going to
go for something that’s cheaper and
faster in ethereum right now the
validators make all the money and that’s
great for them because they came in
early on but I don’t think that’s what
consumers care about right at the end of
the day consumers care about where can I
get fast and cheap and in the history of
software development uh that’s pretty
much where
consumers and that’s kind of why we’re
here one one example that I’ve given
before is if you think about for all
those that uh are as old as me um in
something like
2008 Gmail came onto the scene right
everybody uses Gmail today but before
then people were using things like lyos
uh alav Vista Yahoo mail Microsoft Mail
Right hot mail and I remember if you
wanted to store like 100 or like 10 GB
of information or 1 gab information he
pay like $20 a month and then Google
came out Gmail came out with a reverse
dime on April 1st and we thought it was
April Fool’s Day and they made 1 gab of
uh memory for storage free and it pretty
much decimated pretty much all those
other business I don’t know if anybody
uses lyos mail anymore but I don’t think
I I know
anybody I’ve never even heard of that so
yeah I’ve never heard of likeo M but but
at the end of the day what it comes down
to is people want cheap fast and good
right and I think that’s what we have
and uh and I think uh people can make
their own decisions on why one chain is
sp to the other but I think people would
just gravitate towards cheap fast
yes yeah but what is the technology
behind cheap fast good you mentioned
proof of History yeah you know not to
sound like I don’t know but let me get
one of my Devils really like break down
why pro hisory
works better than the way we okay yeah
it’s fine yeah it’s proof of History
basically proof of history is a a new
style of consensus mechanism and um yeah
salana is here to bring that so thank

my friend Terrence we’re part of the
same blockchain community in Vietnam
and I already told my story about why I
came here but let’s hear it from
Terrence because we have a lot of the
same opinions we got a we’ve got a
similar story yeah I’m Terence I’m
actually been in in Vietnam since May of
2022 it’s not my first CH first time
here I uh first come here in 2014 I was
in the middle of a big kind of a big
International export import deal and uh
I just wanted to make my own Don cuz I
was in the middle of this other
one uh been my wife here uh we
eventually got married in 2015 came to
the
US uh we came back and forth here a
couple times just visiting sometimes
come for like 2 or 3 months um I decided
after about after I think it was during
Co it actually inspired me to to get out
of America it was just it was just
insane Time same like what people were
like uh dying left and right people were
like didn’t want to wear their mask
people were like storming the storming
the uh
it just really hectic crazy time
riots uh I just at the time I was like
you know I’m tired of us it’s just
really not for me I I just Vietnam’s
always been a a more laid-back relaxed
type of environment and you know
fortunate also for me during the co I
actually got time to sit there and think
about crypto you know somebody had
presented crypto to me a long time ago
but I actually had time to sit down and
study stud for about 3 or 4 months
straight right when Co hit everything
was shut down and um like
2020 yeah and um I just I learned so
much about 3 or four months I just put
and my wife just went cool on and uh
invest in everything and uh just it’s
been you know nothing but good good news
from there but um I wanted to come back
to Vietnam one of the other reasons not
only the political economic social
climate is hectic in the US but the uh
adoption rate of crypto in in Vietnam is
is much higher yeah um that’s one of the
things that attracted me to come to
Vietnam as well as like I said the the
social fabric it’s a very familyfriendly
kid-friendly environment here um and
crypto as you see man this is just this
is just Bonkers man this is like every
month there’s like two or three events
like sometimes uh there’s like last
about a month and a half ago there was
six six events in crypto and um you know
just very Tech heavy country I mean a
lot of young vibrant smart minds and uh
I like I like being around SM people
like yourself oh thank
you
appreciate what uh do you have any kids
oh yeah I got three two of them are in
America one of them’s here and I think
she’s going to be in crypto too actually
she’s she actually knows a little bit
about crypto uh I’m trying to get she
she does some gaming maybe more Roblox
I’m trying to get her and stuff like
sandbox over here as well she’ll get
there get her some web fre
gaming um you know she’s uh she’s a tech
too she knows about crypto she’s
actually been explaining explain to
quite quite a few people about crypto
she ALS also tells people she get crypto
cuz she does have a crypto wallet as
well so yeah she doesn’t she don’t know
how to do the transactions yet she does
that for while I said
what what is it about the core of of
cryptocurrency technology that brings
you to
crypto the car the fundamentals of yeah
what brings you to crypto oh there’s
just so many possibilities man you know
what I I’m a old techie uh you know I
went to school in the ’90s computer
engineering okay uh one of my my
passions during that time didn’t arise
out of my court cours workor um it was
the web and that actually came came
about when I was studying I me we went
into the computer lab one day and boom
they had all these new machines they had
the web and I was like wow what is this
man you know before that it was just
straight up
terminals then we had a
interface and so I learned it on my own
but I haven’t been this excited about a
technology um since then you know web 3
I mean cuz there’s so many possibilities
so many
applications
you know not only the payments aspect a
lot of people are fam borderless
payments yeah um they have uh many many
applications real estate social social
media um music applications you have
supply chain applications I mean store
Value Store value I mean just and you’re
you know you don’t have to be restricted
you know you don’t have to government
breathing down your neck or 5 Seconds we
have you know like we doing now with a
lot of fat
currencies this a nice nice time man
nice time this the right right place and
the right time to be this technology
when were you born I’m not going to say
okay all right it’s fine that’s fine
that’s old
man um I’m old man with a young mind
still that’s
all we’re obviously of a different
generation oh yeah yeah I’m
I got a son a by the way I’m just going
to put it out there like that I got I
got a son a so yeah that’s I didn’t I a
lot of people don’t realize that keep a
young mind okay I didn’t even know that
so you have two daughters and one son
two daughters and one one all my
youngest is seven okay I’m not trying to
talk to you but okay I but yeah okay um
but yeah he’s um I think we’re he’s
right I think we’re witnessing the the
decl of an Empire and um it’s mainly
because of the U centralized control of
the
currency but
uh even with with the the the generation
difference we still agree on a lot of
things so it’s very interesting it’s
very interesting to see that web three
man where said vam is where it’s at this
is where it’s going to be man future
this is the future
many many places yeah yeah but uh yeah

uh we just talked to some people here um
very interesting
conversations but uh there’s definitely
a lot of I think this way there’s
there’s definitely a lot of
corporatization if that’s a word
industrialization going on so it’s
interesting to see all the H the hedge
funds and the and the um people with big
money coming
in
so some more scenes for you some more

there’s they their rules to life you
just got to learn the rules and learn to
navigate

here from all around the world but
basically the consensus
is uh centralized power never works we
need decentralized power
because um how else would
you have any kind of consensus on the
way things go you you have to wa you
have to have some kind of way of
decentralizing the consensus of
decisions which is what cryptocurrency
is here to do and it’s it’s a messy it’s
a messy path obviously we can’t all just
use Bitcoin it’s not sufficient so yeah
but
anyway it’s been a good time
