I’m near Mihalakopoulou here in Athens
and I’ve organized to meet a friend of mine
her name is Evangelia you may know her hello
we’re gonna go for a little walk through the park here

I believe it or not don’t drink coffee well
I could probably use some today
I had a late night guys but that’s the Greek life
you don’t drink coffee Greek life yeah
so that’s part of Greek life that I don’t do wow
that’s interesting I know
is that like a red flag yeah
maybe maybe
truth be told I think everyone that drinks coffee
deep down would like to be able to say
they can wake up without it right
but they wouldn’t admit it
that’s my personal opinion
I don’t know did you have your coffee today
I did it’s also a comfort thing
I reckon yeah
yeah sometimes not about the caffeine
it’s just yeah
like if I were to have coffee
it’s like
has to have a sugar and milk and maybe be a mocha
like an experience yeah
like an experience but then that keeps me up all night
keeps you up when it does
it does affect you espresso
it affects me
so that’s also I just get too wired on it
do you so I just like my my wake up is like cold water
cold water on the face under the eyes
have you eaten I had a bite too
you know while I’ve been in Greece yeah
all the stuff that I did in Australia that I was
you know
good at fasted walking in the morning and no coffee and
right don’t eat
you know 20 sweets a day right
that’s going up the window
then a better acid yeah yeah
I’m in Greece I’m just gonna enjoy yeah
last night I had
which is like the famous chicken truck
which is right next to where you just met me right
but it’s only open at night
yeah and so
me and my friend went there at like 5 in the morning
and so
I had like a big thing of chicken and fries with like
their special sauce and so I’m still full
you don’t need a breakfast
I basically had it
I did have breakfast today and it was fried chicken
it was amazing when you come
you can’t help but eat food cause it’s so good
you can’t have a bad meal
I don’t I don’t think
it would be very difficult to have a bad meal here yeah
the one place where I you know
it’s not a bad meal but a disappointing meal yeah
is when you go to some of the super
super touristy places in like Sinakma yes
yes yes
and they bring out a Greek salad
as if we’re in like Kentucky haha
cause they’re like
all these people don’t know better given this
the third rate onions and the tomatoes in there
and I’m just like come on guys
this is our pride and joy there’s only like great
it’s like
point zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero one %
of places in Greece
literally every other place is amazing yes
but I have gone to some of the super touristy ones yeah
or ended up there for some reason and been like
come on
come on some representing exactly well
and and even if you want to take it one step further
at the very least you can see I’m Greek
don’t do it to me right don’t do it to me
we got a lake gap in here or something
maybe oh look at that like the markets
oh my God let’s go when I was opening Friday Edos um
I was renting a place more long term
cause I was actually like
living here those five months um
but now it’s been super back and forth so yeah
I’m super in limbo
I don’t know where I live my main base
I actually have a real place in LA well
I’m just like it’s definitely up in the air
I’m like putting myself in a closet right now
do you know what you’re signing up for
with this kind of success that’s coming
with being a singer was it on the contract though
you know was it on the contract but it’s been amazing
yeah just wrapped our US tour yeah

well his US tour that I was on fantastic um
it was amazing he like he really made history
made a Greeks all over the world
and Greek Americans really proud
and we showed up and we brought
they brought that Jeffy like it was awesome
we got to perform on that stage
and I did the special thing
my favorite part of that was my cover of a
I did a cover of Empire State of mind
uh huh like a Greek American version
so like I switched up some of the lyrics yeah
Greek yeah but I was still singing like in New York
and I was just like wow
I can’t believe I’m singing this like
inspirational New York song yeah
in Barclays in Brooklyn
like it was so cool front of all these Greek Americans
my heart is
falling in the fire don’t wanna let you
no idea I had a light cube right here yeah
I never what day is it it’s a Friday today
maybe it’s every Friday and I’m just probably is
I’m probably sleeping through it or just
I never make a left
I usually just go straight to like the subway
it’s from where I’m going
being on stage with that many people
do you have to sometimes pinch yourself
or do you try to stay away from thinking that way
so you’re cause you got the form right
totally had to pinch myself um
and before I went up there yeah
had to have like a nice strong pet talk with Jay
my boyfriend we do all the music together

please pursuit me and would you like me and my dancers
would you like tea take deep breaths yeah

why get up there like
how do you wanna realize that
this is something special

how do you wanna remember this day
um
and so we got ourselves up and just like got on stage

can smell how fresh yeah

I really want to do a photo shoot yeah
like where I fashion felt like be in front of like
awesome idea awesome idea
and we were talking about it literally yesterday yeah
so we’re like oh
they all they all close yeah
they all close by like 12
that’s like damn
that sucks
but now I could have it so normal
like this one literally around the corner yeah
around the corner and it goes till 3:30

so this can be a place we can show up at 12 yes
have three hours to shoot

it’ll be amazing
cause there’s so many pretty colors and things
you can contrast i’mma take some of the credit
assume that because of my this is meant to be
I’m just trying to sneak in somehow
don’t I have no idea I would never have
I love the lake even if I didn’t buy anything
I just love to walk up and down nice
I mean you getting basic people that don’t know
what I like is like a market that’s once a week
depending on the
its farms market once a week depending on the suburb
and it’s usually straight from the producer
yeah or the farmer to the customer yeah
do you have any middlemen
yeah performing in Greece versus performing in the US
let me ask you that question
what’s that like
do you find there’s a difference between the two
generally speaking yes
there is it depends on the venue because you have the
your boujee venues here right
yes
which are very different from when you
yeah from when you do like um
a concert in the summer like open air
and people come and it’s like standing room
and it kind of feels like an American concert yeah
yeah yeah
sure sure
sure sure
I prefer those to be honest
I know the Greeks love their table
sit down and they love their bottle service
this is paradise
just looking in your eyes

the podcast on my Gregory’s podcast previously
we’ve had a chat and we talk online or whatever
but
this is the first time we’ve actually met in person
so for a second when you first said that you were like
yeah it’s our first time meeting in my head
I was like is this not who I did
the podcast was like I met in person

you’re absolutely right
and I thought about it after I said it
I thought I’m just gonna keep going with this
so I’m just gonna keep rolling
so funny so yeah
um I

I think this is a complete stranger

we had that podcast chat
we almost linked up in Australia too

definitely there’s some things that we wrote down
that have now come to life like
but I believe in that stuff

but I like the more you do it
the more you believe in it as well

a lot of the steps that we wrote down and mapped out

and post it like as a tutorial right right
and I haven’t gotten around to it okay
so this could be the start of that

Coz the only people I’ve really taught it to was
professional dancers who also have trouble with it
the Pentozali
seems like it has some of these off timing moments
yeah where it doesn’t follow the pattern that’s yeah
to get the hang of yeah
yeah there’s like off time
yeah and it’s not an unusual time signature
yeah yeah
it’s not in like 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 correct
it’s like 1 1 2 3

yes and like music gets faster and then it gets slow
it’s a lot
so like the professional dancers are just like
what is this yeah
but eventually get it yeah
and they say of course
to really understand something
you have to be good at teaching
cause a dancer can watch and pick stuff up right
you’re not a professional dancer
no I’m not
you’re kind of a normal person
but you have but you have the Cretan DNA yes
yes um
but then you learn when in the process of teaching
how a student needs
like if they’re not getting it one way
you have to like think okay
what’s another way I can say this
cause everyone’s just like
yeah the way I’ve done is just like one one

but then I was like oh
he needs to like
understand what needs to happen on the one
so hop step kick hop one two

three kick hop then you’re just like
oh that’s what I’m doing
the Greeks outside of those generally tend toward
to lean towards calamatiana and the tradition right
right dances at weddings and things like that yeah

well that’s like
cause everybody can do it yeah
everyone could do it sometimes
then you throw up at those eye in there
and it goes rogue and like even in Korea
just like this one’s not for

sometimes cause it’s fat
that’s when you separate the uh
and that’s when yeah
that’s when people are just like
no not here for cardio
like I’m out once you have the basic down
then all the different special things you can do
so like show off when you’re in front of the line
so at the valley you could do like step kick uh
