‘Two Brothers’ [Les Saisies – Winter ’24 – Ep:5]
can I teach my brother to ski traversing
over two or three mountains can I teach
someone to ski and become a skier in 3
[Music]
days
[Music]
hey guys as you can see we’re in the
snow country we’re in the beautiful ski
area of Lis Lis is about 30 minutes uh
from Albertville in the savvo area of
the northern Alps so I’ve brought my
brother skiing this is something that’s
completely foreign to him he’s never
seen snow in his life he’s never ever
skied so it’s a bit of a once in
a-lifetime trip for him it’s one of my
favorite areas to bring beginners
because it’s really well set up it’s got
a fantastic training area some really
good green runs
uh so it’s a great place to teach
someone out to ski my challenge for the
next 3 days is to see if I can make a
skier out of him I’m hoping to get him
confident enough by the end of day three
we should have been able to go to at
least the end of the lasis resort which
is basically a run that traverses up and
down three fairly large mountains so
that’s my challenge for the week let’s
see how it
goes
so far we’re on the training deutan
slope and he’s not doing he’s not doing
too bad he’s doing really
[Music]
well first day on skis literally the
first hour on skis my brother’s a bit of
a natural he’s always been quite sporty
he wind surfed his kite surfed all that
stuff so I’m pretty sure you can can
handle skiing pretty
[Applause]
[Music]
quickly first time on a ski
[Music]
lift I will say this he’s Brave he’s
definitely Brave he keeps going in the
wrong direction though okay first proper
Green Run for my my brother
franois he’s at One Mini Mini fall but
he’s doing pretty
well I mean he’s basically flown 6,000
Mi to learn out the ski in 3 days that
makes him a big
[Music]
sport okay we’re just finishing our
first Green Run he fell down maybe once
or twice it’s quite steep little section
there to all the ski Pros out there you
might have noticed I’ve got him and
myself on ski blades 100 cm ski blades
uh that’s intentional because um I think
they’re easier to learn easier on the
knees so yeah we’re very chuffed it went
pretty well today let’s see how day two
goes
[Music]
[Music]
he the main man is about to do his first
blue run this is the blue run that goes
back into the CES this is a good run for
beginners it’s a long run but it’s
really smooth and the snow is really
nice at the moment so this will be his
first first next big challenge let’s see
how this
[Music]
[Music]
goes I think he’s really starting to get
it now he’s really enjoying it
confidence is up just did his first blue
run all the way down into the village
behind me there
somewhere plan is to go take the big
lift up to ban onto the very top uh of
that sum which should be something new
for him I think we’re going to go down
the back of the mountain that’ll be an
[Music]
experience
[Music]
[Applause]
Beau
[Music]
that’s the end of day two skiing I think
we did really well frun went up ban the
big mountain back down the other side on
the plan run back up the Sun and then
back into the village so he’s got a real
flavor for like up down up down he is
knacked though he is
[Music]
beaten I’m here in s FAL we just leave
we’re just about to leave to go up to
the mountain for our third day of skiing
so far I’m very impressed with my
brother’s
progress uh for somebody who’s only just
seen snow for the first time in like 3
days it’s pretty impressive today my
plan is to
go to the north side of the resort and
basically Traverse up and down towards
Mont Blanc we’re going to do Three Peaks
up and down up and down it’s quite a
long day it’s quite a long day of skiing
but I’m confident that he’s going to
pull it
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
off
[Music]
let’s do
[Music]
this
the first lift that’s taking us up over
the village is the sh the B lift is a
fantastic
Lookout uh point where you can see the
whole mon BL so we’ll stop there as well
for a
[Music]
sec and mon Blanc is just showing itself
[Music]
[Applause]
today
we’re heading up to the second Peak this
is the brish
lift says the people are making him
nervous there’s quite a lot of people
it’s school holidays at the
[Music]
moment
[Music]
okay we’re at the top of the deuce lift
there’s one more run down to the end of
the resort it’s called the Basta
[Music]
run slowly
okay we’re at the very last part of the
Basta run this is towards the this is
the very end of the lases resort this is
going to be his biggest challenge this
he a
steep and he’s tired cuz we’ve been
skiing for more than 2 hours now so
let’s take it slow let’s see how this
goes taking it very slow make sure we
get those turns in Breaking All the Way
down basically I mean that’s what you
got to do when you’re a
[Music]
beginner who
[Music]
[Music]
okay
we’ve made it he’s made it to the bottom
that was very crazy that was very steep
very nerve-wracking for him I know how
hard that
[Music]
was this is literally the furthest you
can go in
[Music]
Lees what a
trip I hope you enjoyed your
holiday um maybe we’ll see you on the
snow one day again I hope so bye to all
the family back home in South
Africa there he
is
