Day trip from Nice to Menton in the South of France #travel #vlog #guide #nice #menton
my name is Tim and today I’m taking the
train from n to Menton in the south of
France the train station Garden e is
fairly centrally located and it’s easy
to catch the train to travel on day
trips up and down the coast the station
gets busy with long cues to the ticket
office and the ticket machines so I
would recommend you buy your ticket
online in advance the train to monton is
on the line that goes to vent milia it’s
one of the last stops before it tips
over the border into
Italy your ticket will need a QR code
which you show at the barrier to get
through to the
Platforms in my experience the trains
from nce are usually on time and
efficient and it’s always a novelty to
take one of the double deer trains
train from n to monton only takes 35
minutes along the coast and when I was
traveling the cost was less than £6 each
way we had a lot of space on the train
but at peak times and particularly in
the summer months it can get very
busy the train journey along the coast
is a great experience in itself as you
pass such beautiful scenery on the
way on the train to monton make sure you
sit on the right hand side so you get to
enjoy the spectacular views Over the
Sea if you look closely you get a
glimpse of Monte Carlo as you speed by
next stop
monton so you exit the station directly
in front of you is the tennis club and
if you turn to the left and walk along a
short stroll and you will find yourself
at the main Boulevard heading down to
the
center the Avenue has a variety of shops
and cafes as you stroll along you get a
sense of the history of the town with
its Grand mansions and
Gardens at the bottom of the Avenue you
will reach the imposing building which
is the home to the
casino behind the casino you will come
to one of manton’s beaches the broad
strip of pebbley Beach Beach which is
the Plage de
Casino our morning started off cloudy
but you could see there were lots of
places to sit out and enjoy a drink or a
meal overlooking the
beach the beach is also home to a couple
of fancy looking
hotels as you walk along the beach you
start to get some views of the old town
and we stumbled across a little Antique
Market that was open the day we were
[Music]
visiting we were exploring on a Friday
so if you like antique markets it’s
worth doing your research to see if it’s
going to be open on the day you intend
visiting we arrived at a famous covered
food market near the seafront the name
is pronounced
Leal it’s a beautiful building housing
lots of Alleyways with meats and cheeses
and wines and all sorts of fresh produce
on
offer it’s a lovely Market to explore
and perhaps buy a few things to take
home or even stop for a glass of wine
and to taste some of the produce
close to the market there’s a
picturesque walled Courtyard with
various cafes and restaurants if you
want to stop for a drink or a
meal back on the seafront there is a
small Fortress looking building which
houses the Museum of Jean CTO the famous
French playwright and poet
as you walk a little bit further around
the Headland you come to a beautiful
view of another Beach and the marina
with the mountains in the
background it’s a smart area to stop for
a coffee in one of the cafes on the
harbor
side the beach in this part of monton is
Sandy and the water looked shallow clear
and good for
swimming standing majestically above the
beach you will find the steps that lead
up to the Basilica s Michelle
akaj I highly recommend you make the
effort to climb the steps to enjoy the
magnificence of this minor Basilica and
Catholic Parish Church standing in the
center of the Old Town
from the top of the steps you can also
enjoy a great view over the bay with its
dramatic mountainous
backdrop it was time to enjoy a couple
of hours exploring the vibrant shopping
streets and to find a spot to have lunch
there are lots of restaurants to choose
from many of them specializing in
seafood and reflecting the Italian
influence being so close to the
border monton is famous for its
excellent lemons which you can buy in
many shapes and forms in different
products throughout the town
you’ll see lots of delicious ice cream
being sold which was lovely to enjoy
whilst having a leisurely stroll around
the streets of the old
town we found a small memorial garden
with a Serene female figure remembering
those who fought in the resistance
during the second World War
with the sun shining and the caf’s
buzzing the town has a vibrant and
colorful
atmosphere impressive buildings such as
the hotel DeVille give you an insight
into the Grandeur and Heritage of the
Glory Days of the
town after a great day exploring monton
we made our way back to the station but
it’s definitely a town I would love to
visit again

Join me an a wonderful day trip from Nice to Menton on the glorious Cote d’Azure.
Starting at Gare to Nice Ville, the main train station in Nice, I board the regular train service that runs between Nice and Ventimiglia, stopping at Menton before the train leaves France and travels across the border into Italy.
Menton is a town of grand heritage, reflected in its buildings and its sense of style and sophistication. Famous for its huge lemons, beaches, marina and colourful narrow shopping streets its a lovely place to explore for a day.
