Tignes Ski Resort – Truly Unique
Welcome to Tignes Le Lac
Tignes has quite a few Villages
you got Tignes Les Brevières, you have Tignes Les Boisses, Tignes 1800
you got Tignes Le Lac which is where we
are and then you also have Tignes Val Claret
which is a bit further which is about 2100m
Tignes’ got lots of activities to do
you can do like ice driving, ice diving, you got
the famous BUN J RIDE which is
just like bungee jumping but with skis or snowboard
which is pretty cool
so right now it’s a beautiful day
i just arrived
i’m going to be checking out all the
villages going in depth, have a few aerial shots as well
and do some activities hopefully the
weather conditions permit it
and should be a fun little week
alright time to go and have some lunch now

this must be the biggest snowman
I’ve ever seen look how huge it is
and just to prove that we are really
in Tignes in case you missed it
you have a small tiny little Igloo Village
just by the lake as well for the kids
let’s go and check them out
I don’t think there’s anything exciting like the Igloo Village dinner
cheese fondue dinner you can have at certain resorts
but
yeah just a simple nice little igloo
do not climb on the walls
i’m about to check-in at the Hotel Les Suites du Montana
which is in Tignes, Tignes Le Lac
it’s a nice little hotel
it’s nice and cozy a bit like a chalet
it’s got nice wood, stone, ski-in ski-out
it’s got your restaurant, Spa it’s got a bit of
everything and it’s managed by Les Etincelles
which is a property group let’s go have a look
and check out the lobby and everything
so here we are i’m in room or suite number 42
and it’s a Privilege Suite
so you got a downstairs just the ground level and
an upstairs so duplex
so let’s have a look
bath and shower
but the cool thing about this bathroom
is look at this
I got a sauna
so I’m not going to go in now and I haven’t set it up but
here you go it’s a bit it’s a bit
small perfect for two people no more
well there you go
your own sauna in your own bathroom
takes about 15 minutes to heat up apparently
you got your instructions just there
so that’s pretty cool
sauna in your own bathroom
you don’t have to go with
others and share with others
toilets, nothing special pretty basic actually but
it’s all right it’s clean it’s what you
coat hangers
so there’s the bedroom looks like a king bed to me
it’s quite nice
it’s bit old and a little bit dated but it’s still nice and clean and
I don’t know I’m a bit mixed
oh wow look at that look at that view
that’s amazing beautiful view
and ski-in ski-out
I’m a bit mixed with the 5-star rating in some of the properties
so they are 5-star rating that do go through
that system and they have facilities and
so on but I don’t know some of them look more
like 4-star so for me this has the facilities of 5-star
it is beautiful it’s really quite nice and
it just feels a little bit older but
the facilities are there the services
are there this is the upstairs so
pretty nice large suite really for a hotel
it’s not an apartment it’s a hotel so
you got a nice coffee table there
you got TV you got a
fireplace wood fireplace not gas
pretty cool
tiny TV in there
DVD player, i haven’t seen those in years
anyway
a bit of everything, what else do we have here
got coffee machine, kettle
a few little teas and so on
you got a balcony
and look at that view wow
amazing
this is stunning
such a nice view of Tignes Le Lac
and surrounding peaks and the mountains
beautiful
i’m looking forward to waking
up to that every day for the next few days
what else do we have here
oh another bathroom so two bathrooms
one upstairs one downstairs
this one has toilets
you got your shampoos and so-ons soaps and conditioner
what do you expect really from a 5-star property
still has Village Montana towels which will
probably change since this part of the Etincelles group
Les Suites du Montana, they haven’t changed the name yet
and twin bedroom
so for kids I guess or friends travelling together
it’s just a small little window and
some luggage storage space
so here we are the privilege suite at hotel

really really nice
I’ve checked the bar the lounge already and
the reception and the entrance so I’ll go
and check out the spa and the swimming
pool later on and they also have a nice
apparently outdoor little Terrace where you can just
sunbake and look at the slopes and life go by
a bit late in the day but obviously
when it’s nice and sunny earlier in the day
it’ll be quite nice lounging just here
in the Sun get a cocktail of your favorite drink
or a beer or wine or just water
whatever you want just enjoy enjoy the good times
they have 2 restaurants as well
which we can’t really see right now
cuz it’s too early it’s only about
what is the time and it’s 20 past 4
so here we have the exit of the hotel
Les Suites du Montana so ski-in ski-out as you can see
you can just walk up to that slope just here
or go down and zigzag down this slope or
you can just go straight down here
and that leads you to a Tignes Le Lac village
like the gondola like Tovière for example
so i’m going to catch the Tovière gondola now
let’s go
well I didn’t quite make it have to unstrap
and if you’re on skis you’ll just have to push in a little bit but
it gets you at least to the
palafour chair lift
pretty much
and the center of Tignes Le Lac
So ski-in ski-out Hotel Les Suites du Montana 5-star hotel
it’s a little crazy there’s quite a few people
all around it’s a big intersection
going in all directions
like round abouts which is why we usually
call them rond point des pistes
so many people got the magic carpet
beautiful day no wonder everyone’s out but
the queues aren’t too big I guess
so as soon as you get past that first lift
you get to the ski area, the ski area
is massive of Val d’Isère-Tignes
here we at the to Tovière gondola
catch that little baby and go for a ride
so we’re at the top of La Tovière gondola
got a really nice view of Tignes, Tignes Le Lac
and Tignes Val Claret
and the whole Tignes Val d’Isère ski area
so this is all Tignes
you got La Grande Motte Grand over there
which is the
highest point in Tignes, it’s a glacier
you can ski there in summertime
and then you got the Val d’Isère ski area
so it is linked over there the part of it
so you can’t see it at all
it’s massive it’s got 300 km of runs
and they’re both linked so you don’t
have to unstrap catch a bus or anything like that
so Tignes Val d’Isère ski area huge
then on the other side which you can’t
see on the other side of here
you’ll see Tignes Les Brevières all
the way down which is just below the dam
which we’ll have a look as well
look at that look at this huge
playground it’s absolutely massive
you can ski pretty much everywhere you see
whether it’s on piste or off-piste
but it’s within the ski area
and just next to the Tovière gondola
you also have Tommeuses chairlift so the summit of it
that gets you down to Val d’Isère
and towards La Folie Douce as well
this is Val d’Isère ski area as well
all the way down there

here we are in Tignes Val Claret
Tignes has such a beautiful ski area it’s really
amazing the fact that it’s linked with Val d’Isère
it’s a extra bonus the villagers ski resorts
themselves they’re not the prettiest but they’re
very convenient and obviously purpose built
a lot of the properties are ski-in ski-out
or just a few steps away which is really really nice
I must say the Villages lack a bit of charm
like your nice wood and stone you don’t really get
that at Tignes but the ski area is just stunning
really really nice
on the other hand they are starting
to make some improvements
but for the villages that are further down
like around Tignes 1800 and Tignes Les Brevières
where they’re more your village style if you say
with stone and wood so if you have more Village
atmosphere head down there otherwise for the
more entertaining bars and things like that get
head to Tignes Le Lac or Tignes Val Claret for the party scene
you can see the Hole in the Rock

we’re going to go and check it out
you may have seen that famous rock in Tignes
which is where you see can see
Candide Thovex doing some crazy tricks through it
we’ll have a look at it in a minute
you quite often get a nice weather in Tignes as well
quite high in altitude
so because of its elevation it’s snow sure
and snow guarantee pretty much
throughout the whole winter it opens early
and late early December late November and then all
the way till May so if you’re a bit worried about
the snow conditions which is fair enough these days
head over to Tignes you’ll be guaranteed some
snow from December anytime January and even
in springtime March is a great time to come April
there’s still plenty of snow don’t worry about that
unlike other Villages and ski resorts
where around a 1000m like Megève, Chamonix
all those little low altitude villages
they’re pretty scary to book in advance
because you don’t know what you’re going to get
but with the high altitudes like
Tignes, Val Thorens, Les Arcs, all those ski areas
Val d’Isère, Courchevel 1850
and so on they’re high up so you’re going to have
some really good snow conditions throughout the winter
so for snow sure holidays head to those ski resorts
and Tignes is one of them
lots of activities as well I’ve mentioned it before
so you can do all your ice diving, ice driving,
you got paragliding like most ski resorts do
I highly recommend doing paragliding it’s such a fun
activity definitely high on the thrills and Adrenaline
Tignes has the unique BUN J RIDE which is the
bungee jumping you can do in Ski and
Snowboard many more activities as well
you can obviously do things like CrossCountry
skiing as well and just check Evolution 2 or
check on the check out the Tignes website or

then you’ll see what activities you can do there

it’s all new and fresh
at the top of the Aiguille Rouge
and you got another big Tignes sign
just in case you didn’t know you were in Tignes
I ordered some crunchy vegetable salad with
the spiced marinated chicken
the salad is really crunchy it’s beautiful it’s really
nice but the chicken there’s just no
it’s just simple no flavor there’s no marinated there’s
no spice but it’s okay don’t know if they forgot
to marinate it but the food is really
nice and tried the Asian noodle soup as well
which is really beautiful really nice food
the other thing I really enjoyed today is having
another taste at the afternoon tea Le Gouter which
they serve around 4:00 at the bar the lounge
and it’s free it’s self- serving complimentary
and that was absolutely amazing that was really delicious
I was just blown away by how nice it
was so hopefully tomorrow’s something different
something just as nice it was different yesterday
it was really really nice it’s nice that they
change it every day as well so nice little treat
in the five-star hotels all those little snacks
after a hard day on the slopes it’s nice to come
home to and it tastes really amazing and quite different
another beautiful morning in Tignes
this morning I’m really excited I’m going
to be doing something new I haven’t
done before it’s a micro flight
so I’m on the Tichot chairlift I’m going to go up and
going to go into this tiny little
what do you call it paragliding style of little
plane that’s just going to go fly around the mountain so
there’s a lot of those activities around Tignes which is pretty cool
Tignes has so many activities probably one of the
ski results with the most winter activities that
are non skiing I would say in the French
Alps so i highly recommend doing that hopefully
it’s a fun ride it all goes well and i’m looking
forward to some thrills and a bit of adrenaline

so i just arrived from Tignes Val Claret
i caught the Tichot chairlift
and just ski or ride down
next to the Grattalu chairlift next to the snow park

so ultro light aircrafts
it’s really a nice day it’s going to be a
bit cloudy this afternoon apparently
this is what I’ll be flying in today some
cool little ultra light aircraft
that was absolutely amazing that was so
good one of the best rides I’ve ever had the
adrenaline it just I can’t even describe it how
good it was I highly recommend it you must do it
it’s full of thrills full of adrenaline amazing
views I can’t even describe it in words it was
absolutely outstanding definitely do it
you have different rates you have €100 for about 15 minutes
and then it climbs up I’m not too sure after 30
minutes €190 I think it is but it is worth the
experience it’s something you’ll never do again
probably in your life it’s a Once in lifetime
experience and opportunity there’s just
no words to describe it ULM so ultra light aicraft
it felt like we were on a Star Wars
aircraft at some stage so you can ask for the
pilot if he wants to go a bit more tranquil a bit
more relaxed and quiet or you can ask for a bit of
more adrenaline and packed action where you twist and
turn a little bit so that’s entirely up to you
but a unique unique experience you must do when
you’re in Tignes absolutely try it’s so good, really amazing loved it
i’m currently going down from Tignes Les Boisses Tignes 1800
to Tignes Les Brevières: It’s a nice little track nice
and flat and easy and nice and cruisy
and here we are in Tignes Les Brevières, Tignes 1550
it’s a nice small little village Tignes Les Brevières it’s very
small very small so it’s nice if you come here for lunch
or if you’re staying in beautiful chalets

the other Villages not too too impressed
really I mean if you’re going to be staying
in Tignes Le Lac or i guess Tignes Lavachet i guess
it’s much nicer it’s closer to most of the shops
and restaurants and so on and the
meeting point for the ski school
Tignes Val Claret as mentioned before
it’s more for probably partying and skiing
really next close to the La Grande Motte lift
to get up there on the glacier
otherwise you got a nice and quiet Tignes 1800 Tignes Les Boisses
that’s great for families you got some nice
little budget Apartments which are about 3
4-star CGH Residences is 4-star
they’re quite good value really nice value and
ski-in ski-out easy access for Tignes but if you want
the party scene the Lively scene definitely not
the village to choose from so for me my
recommendation for Tignes Les Brevières if you’re staying
one of the luxury Chalet it’s really really nice
nice you got your own lift to get all the way
up on the little mountain there and you
got a great view down onto Tignes Les Brevières and up the
mountain so they’re quite unique chalets as well
they all have their own style and they’re
quite beautiful so check them out
look at all that cheese so good and saucisson
this is the NEW Voulez-Vous Hotel in Tignes Le Lac
I’ll be checking-in here for 3 nights
and checking out the rooms and the hotel facilities
it’s not quite ski-in ski-out but pretty much ski-in ski-out
as you can see you got the slopes
just there so when you hop out of the hotel
it’s only few meters you can join the piste and
then you can go and catch the Tovière chairlift
gondola should I say and Tignes Le Lac so
just around the corner so really good location
so they don’t have a ski room but they do have a
ski lock and you just leave your skis in here
and that way you can just hop on out and go
skiing and riding in the ski lounge it’s just here
and then just leave your board your skis just
here and then they look after it and that’s mine
I’m sure the fire will be on later on and it’ll be
quite nice and cozy but right now it’s all set up
and here you are just in front of the slopes of Tignes Le Lac
I think the hotel’s trying to blend
in with the snow and the mountain
it’s probably the theme in the aim got a really
nice open Terrace just by the slopes it’s quite nice
so I’m on the fourth floor and I’ll be in
room it’s a Privilege Room so Privilege Room 428
put the key inside
so here we are very nice and bright
you got the huge bathroom it’s quite
big as soon as you enter very big bathroom
toilet and shower it is so nice to have
a shower a lot of the old hotels have the bath
where you have to hold the shower and that’s so
annoying such a European thing I am European as
well as Australian but I really don’t like it
when even in five-star hotels you have a bath
and you have to hold the shower it’s quite old
school but hey this is brand new it’s only 2 years old
the Hotel Voulez-Vous and so therefore they know
what the people want and the people want want to shower
I’m sure there are people that want baths
but generally you don’t want to be staying
in your own filth, filthy water
there you go
a privilege room, nice and bright
really lots of Lights I really like it
you got complimentary mini bar coffee
machine that gets refilled every day not too
sure how much there is in there but hey it’s
complimentary so that’s always pretty good
you got access to a QR code so if you want some
room service or activities or things services from the hotel
so it’s not the hotel website but
the actual app for servicing
pretty big size TV screen Samsung
nice size king size bed no balcony
however you do have a fantastic view of the slopes
look at that boom Tignes Le Lac
so it’s almost ski-in ski-out you just
have to cross the road to get to the hotel
so not really ski-in ski-out but hey if
you’re going to be skiing you’re going to be
doing a bit of sport I’m sure you can cross the
road that won’t hurt you so definitely a really
good location the 5-star Hotel Voulez-Vous and look at
that stunning View so this is the privilege view room
so maybe not all rooms have a beautiful view
of Tignes Le Lac but if you upgrade it don’t get the
lowest room category you’ll be getting this
type of view in the privilege room
so stunning view
i’m looking forward to see what the spa looks like
I haven’t even had a look at it on the website
so brand new hotel 2 years old for the I
think they believe the 22-23 season that’s when it opened
probably just some cupboard space in here
and a safe as you do in most four and five
star hotels coat hangers decent amount of storage space
and there’s quite a lot of space in this room
some bedrooms are quite tight but this is pretty good
I’ll have to check out what the square meter
is for the privilege room it’ll probably be on the
description text below so here we are another look
at the bathroom you get all your products from Etincelles

was nice I’ll just have to check out the

i just go back from a day on the slopes now it’s time for a bit
of spa action so let’s go check out the spa
got a decent hot tub
oh yeah that’s nice
little fountains
water temperature is quite nice
and you can see the slopes in the mountains just there
they don’t really see in but you can see out quite well when
I was in the streets i couldn’t really see inside the pool
but there you go nice pool, Spa, you got hammam, sauna
just a small Fitness room but there’s
a little bit there for you to do a workout
you’ve got some weights

I’m at the little hut of Evolution 2
we’re going to go Moon biking
I haven’t done this before so
like an electric snowmobile which is much smaller
should be fun, fun rides
I’m in Tignes Val Claret about to go for 1 hour moon bike ride
there three of us in total plus the guide
if you want to turn you must you lean the machine, the machine
the break so don’t take the brake like
this otherwise you block the back and you slide
if you want to stop it’s better to to do this
small pressure small okay and the most important
is that one you can fix the the the level the
intensity of the machine we’re going to start in
low for the first practice and when you’re okay
we push medium when you’re ready we push High ok
it’s crazy they don’t make a sound
compared to snowmobilling it’s pretty cool
right next to the Moon bike you can do
a bit of tubing as well snow tubing
so much fun especially with your friends
and family just a group of you
little magic carpet that goes all the way up
and down you go
today I’m in for another exciting activity
i’m going to be trying out ice diving
I haven’t done that before but be quite a bit of fun
bit of an adventure hopefully the water’s not too cold
I’m in Tignes Le Lac currently and I think
that’s where they do it just over there
here we are with the wet suit it’s
pretty thick super hot can’t wait to get
in the water I probably won’t be saying
that in a few minutes time when I go into
the icy water but but now this is what
it looks like ready to go ice diving
looking pretty cold
so black i can’t see anything
there’s about five holes
I’m guessing we’ll go in the big one
I’ll need to go in the big one
wow what an experience I didn’t think I’d get
so hot you actually get so hot in the suit so
for anyone that’s thinking ice diving
you might get cold forget about it it’s
almost like a sauna inside those big thick wet
suits what an experience it pretty cool it’s a
lot harder to a lot harder than Open Water I
got my open water diving license but this
is definitely lot harder to move around
to balance in the water underneath but an
amazing experience pretty cool can’t see too
much in there but seeing the ice above you is
really nice the bubbles and it’s quite dark
in there as you can see from the video but
definitely a great experience I highly
recommend it for sure ice diving in Tignes Le Lac
I’m currently in Tignes I just got to the Merles chairlift and
I’m going to be doing Bungie BUN J RIDE
it’s my first time I’ve never done that before
I have done bungy jumping before but not with the
snowboard so this is pretty cool
a new a little activity for me to do
weather conditions are not that great
it’s bit windy and overcast but hey it’s the mountains
you get what you get
so i’m about to strap in and go from the Top let’s go
Wow that is crazy
woohoo sorry for the swearing this is insane
well you do get a bit of a head spin because you’re upside down
and zipline upside down
the blood is rushing through my head wow this is in insane
scarier than I thought it would be
the takeoff is a bit dodgy on snowboard it’s probably
easy on skis it pulls you a bit from the thighs
merci
that was crazy holy shit
that wakes you up
what a thrill what a ride, it was insane it was
so crazy it’s worth the rush really wakes you up wow
that was amazing that was such a good
adrenaline rush that was so good I highly recommend it
do the BUN J RIDE in Tignes if you like a bit
of adrenaline it definitely wow
it wakes you up that’s for sure
awesome stoked so happy
it was a bit stressful, i was a bit tense when I went down
i had the GoPro stick and I didn’t have anything to hook
it on so my hand was pretty crisp holding on to the
GoPro stick hoping it wouldn’t fall
otherwise goodbye GoPro
but yeah that was nice
I don’t think I supposed to have my head
upside down at the end but yeah it happens
Welcome to Tignes with its 5 villages that make up Tignes Ski Resort. Tignes Le Lac is the main resort on the banks of a large lake, at an altitude of 2100m which is where i will be staying for the week in 2 different 5***** hotels: Les Suites du Montana which is old and rustic and the NEW Voulez-Vous Hotel.
Tignes is located in one of the best ski areas in France. Its high altitude gives Tignes a more extended winter than many French ski resorts and makes it a very snow-sure destination
