EPIC Day in PARIS: Unforgettable HISTORY and FOODIE Experience

[Music]
good morning I’m in Paris I’m very
excited today’s my first full day here
I’ve got a full day scheduled I’m on my
way now to meet up with walks tour are
this really fabulous tour company walks
in like basically like all of the major
cities and the tour I’m doing today is
like a skip the line tour at s Chapelle
which like I’m ashamed to say I’ve never
been inside mainly because I never want
to wait in the line for it so this is
amazing we’re doing that we’re doing
like a little walking tour of the
medieval District shame had to be a
great like morning

here to her her hair cut short for the
she writes her last letter which here to
her sister-in-law mad Elizabeth who was
in the letter she asked for one thing
she asks her sister-in-law to try to
save her son she never really mentions
her daughter she doesn’t care about her
she finally organized the trial SC to
organize the trial put her on trial

I just got done doing the walks tour it
was amazing we had this really fantastic
tour guide named Obby who just his
enthusiasm carried over so much and
fascinating like 3 hours we started out
learning about the history of Paris and
how the Romans took it over from the
Kelts we went over to Notre which
obviously because of the fire you still
can’t go in but it’s amazing how much of
the rebuilding they’ve gotten through
just since I was here in March we also
got to learn a little bit more about the
history one point after one of the
revolutions notredam kind of fell into a
state of
disrepair and was being used as like
basically a storage facility City wanted
to tear it down but because Victor Hugo
had just written uh HRA of notra which
ended up becoming massive hit French
people had such like fondness for noton
after that that they petitioned to save
it and obviously they did save it
otherwise like we wouldn’t have it today
which is kind of insane to think about
after that we went to S Chappelle which
honestly have never done it mainly
because the line’s always crazy but with
this you get to skip the lines so we got
to go straight to the front to hear all
the history honestly if you would have
gone in by yourself like you would have
missed out like the fact that the
stained glass windows each represent
like a book of the Bible and different
stories and just you know little details
like that so it’s absolutely stunning
like highly recommend going there then
after that we walked through um
basically the Department of Justice
where like back in the day like they
used to house the prisoners including
Brian tette so that was really cool we
got just the history of the guillotine
and before that like kind of how being
drawn and quartered happened and
honestly I was Bown a white by how good
it was so I’m going to go get my
macaroons have like my nice little
dessert from there we will’ll go do
drinks from the Latin quarter which like
obviously is going to be fun who doesn’t
love wine and cheese

have the sauce spicy yeah it’s me I’m
back um we’ve obviously seen some
footage of my last couple of hours on my
devour um ala tour but
naturally after a couple glasses of wine
and champagne and cheese there was only
so much vlogging I was going to do let’s
honest cuz I was going to get distracted
by the food and the wine and the company
every time I’m on a devour tour I end up
making friends and this was no exception
really I think what devour tours are
about I’m not going to guarantee you’re
going to make friends but every time I’m
on a devour tour not only is the tour
guide
amazing
obviously but like the group of people
that they bring together it’s always
magical and tonight was no exception on
top of that I’m walking home it’s really
cold it’s raining
but look at my view right now like
honestly how lucky am
I this is what I get to walk home to
tonight and it’s midnight in Paris in
the rain and it’s freezing like this is
my view and I feel so special and so
lucky right now

Today, we’re spending the ultimate day in Paris, starting off with an early morning tour of Île de la Cité (City Island) with Walks Tours.

It was one of my favorite historic walking tours I’ve ever taken, and I’m so excited for you to get a glimpse at all the iconic spots they take you, including discussing Notre Dame (if you don’t know, it’s still being rebuilt – partially opening Dec. 8th), plus get skip-the-line access to two major French monuments, Sainte Chapelle church and the Conciergerie (basically old city hall).

If you only have a quick day layover in Paris, this tour covers a ton. You’ll be able to say you walked in the footsteps of Louis IX at the absolute jewel box that is Sainte Chapelle.

Plus, be able to say that you got to visit where Marie Antoinette’s was held in jail before eventually being beheaded (you’ll learn all about the guillotine and the French Revolution in the process).

The best part is that once the tour’s over, they hand out vouchers for a Seine River cruise that departs near the ending point. I saved mine to use on a warmer day (they’re good for a year), but you could easily hop on the boat afterwards.

Next, we’ll walk along the Seine and over to St. Germain for a little shopping and snack of Pierre Herme macarons (my favorite!).

Then we’ll head over to the Latin Quarter to join Devour Food Tour’s Paris at Sunset: Apéritif, Food & Wine Tour.

Spoiler alert, it was a ton of fun and I made so many new friends and foodie discoveries.

We began at Paris’s oldest surviving monuments and best-kept secrets—a real Roman amphitheater from the second century BC.

Then swiftly headed to one of my favorite staples in Paris, La Fromagerie (a cheese shop). We tried so many amazing French cheeses and got to hear about cheese history, legends, laws, and so much more.

Next, we walked a short distance to a blind tasting of French sparkling wine and Champagne led by an award-winning sommelier. Will you be able to tell the difference?

After getting our fill of bubbles, we head to a Parisian bistro that specializes in natural winemaking, heritage techniques and forgotten grapes, with a little salty snack for some added pep in our step.

Last, we all got a spot in the neighborhood bistro in the heart of the Sorbonne (a world-renowned university in the Latin Quarter established in the 13th century).

We sampled some delicious French red wine, escargot, and then, after the tour, the group all hung out another few hours talking, eating, and drinking.

It was truly one of the most epic first days in Paris that I’ve ever had!

If you’d like to book with either of the tour companies, I’ve got my affiliate links below, and would appreciate it if you use them to book, as it doesn’t cost you anything and supports my channel.
