OUR TUSCAN KITCHEN RENOVATION!

we’re Nikki and Carlo and we live in
patano Italy except we also just bought
a house in Tuscany which we’re currently
renovating so we live there too join us
as we turn this house and Olive Grove
into a dream home and get to grips with
living in two different parts of
Italy last week while I was off having
fun in England with my family Carlo was
hard at work work back in Tuscany
getting all sorts of odd jobs
[Music]
done he also took the executive decision
to paint the kitchen backsplash area a
strange lilu pink which was not quite
what I had envisioned
but I love the effect I love the effect
that it is it’s exactly what I wanted
for the whole house but I just didn’t
know how to do it so now I’m just I’ve
watered down like the remnants of this
pain and I’m just putting it over the
top and rubbing it in
and I think it’s working yeah and that’s
exactly what I wanted yeah it’s more
peit yeah
definitely there’s nothing in
there but it’s just
[Music]
enough I haven’t quite finished this
wall as you can see it’s darker this
side than it is that side that is
because I ran out of paint yesterday so
I’m going to finish it tomorrow morning
early before miracal gets here tomorrow
we are installing the kitchen I’m very
excited let me give you a closer up look
of this though originally I was going to
wait until the kitchen was here so I
could decide what color to do but I’ve
just gone ahead and done it and I’ve
used the excess paint from the wall
outside and I wanted it to look lime
washed um like an old Italian Villa I’ll
insert a photo from a villa in patano
that was my in insiration for this I
think I’ve done fairly well um I just
need to finish this bit up here cuz I
literally ended up painting with colored
water by this point so I had to run out
and buy some new paint yesterday and I
will do that in the morning and
hopefully when we install the kitchen
we’ll probably move this table and put
this out the back somewhere um to be
defined later on and then probably bring
in sofa that’s over there at the moment
and bring that back in here shift this
more into the middle of the room have
the other sofa there and then maybe
there’ll be space for a couple of
armchairs over here armchairs which we
don’t actually have but this afternoon
we’re going to go out we’re going to go
to some garden centers and we’re going
to get some plants and we’re going to
look and see if we can find some nice
big vases I’d like to three vases here
um I think they’d look really nice with
something green in against the wall
there this area will eventually have
some um like sofa areas out here and we
also need some plants some trailing
plants for the walls here because the
previous owners have come around and
collected their tortoises finally but
they’ve also taken all the plants that
were on this wall with them um including
there was a little watering can with a
flower in it there they’ve taken that
they’ve even taken the little vase that
was here that I’d put some pansies in
they taken it all and they’ve even dug
up a Wisteria
uh from this little flower bed here and
taking that with them too so we want to
replace a few
things what can I say so thanks to my
friend Susie we found this place that
sells VES and there’s some over there
that I love the look of but they’re very
expensive so we might keep looking for a
while we’ve left the VES for now come to
this um Garden Center to have a look at
the plant and finally we found some
Bugan Villa we haven’t really seen much
Bugan Villa in Tuscany
hlya we’re just going to have a quick
look around see if we can find anything
we want some climbing stuff and
something to put in the vases if we buy
any this is a good place we found some
wow really exciting
plants doesn’t have a price on it this
one but we’ve got a little
Maple cuz there actually was a maple in
front of the house but they obviously
killed it
and
see
see lemon
trees I know he wants a lemon
[Music]
tree now we’re looking at the ban Villas
they’re about 30 35 these big tall
plants this is what they look like
various
colors and I like this color here sort
of like an orangey
faded
red well we filled the car with plants
there are also two dogs buried in here
somewhere not sure
where see if we can find
them they probably
all moved over to the front ind’s going
to drive Holly’s going to be co-pilot
and Mommy will sit on the roof
okay good morning today is a very
important day today is Kitchen day our
kitchen is finally arriving and we’re
going to install it and M Mir should be
here around about 9:00 it’s just gone
halfast 7 in the morning we’ve got to
empty out the temporary kitchen and I’ve
got a little bit of painting to finish
as well so we’ve got to get cracking cuz
we’ve got about an hour an hour and a
half before he arrives with the kitchen
I haven’t actually seen the finished
kitchen yet the last time I saw it was
the last time you saw it so a couple of
weeks ago and I have no idea what it
actually looks like so fingers
crossed I also have a little bit of
painting that I need to finish doing
before Miracle comes so first of all I’m
GNA get all this stuff
[Music]
down know where I’m going to put it
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
see up and I need water can you help me
yeah the walls were a little bit too
dark so I’m just lightening them up
again basically with just a wash
of a pale color and then just rubbing it
in so it’s got like the old St Palazo
effect that’s what I’m hoping to achieve
anyway if it doesn’t work I can always
paint over it
[Music]
at our home in patano we renovated our
kitchen just 2 years ago there I chose a
light colorful fitted kitchen with a
U-shaped countertop and IKEA
[Music]
cabinets here in Tuscany I wanted to try
something completely different unfitted
units natural wood
handmade I hope that the ideas in my
head work in real life I guess we’re
going to find out very
soon we dismantled our temporary Kitchen
in about half an hour when we bought it
it only cost us a total of โ‚ฌ25 to
install and has served us well for the
last 3
months if you haven’t been watching our
videos for about 2 years you might not
have seen our kitchen renovation video
from posetano and I highly recommend
that you go and watch that one because
renovating a kitchen in posetano with
500 Steps From the road to the house is
a totally different ball game to this
this is just easy peasy it is one of the
most easy things we’ve ever done but the
one in patana we had to get together a
group of about 10 men to get all the
stuff down to the house and it was it
was a real feat but we did it and we
filmed it all and I will leave the video
linked up here somewhere for you to
watch if you haven’t seen it already

that the sink is from Ikea the sink we
managed to get it was was the last sink
in the whole of North Italy I checked
all the Ikeas and there was one in about
two months ago so I ran and got that the
T was not available in Italy I ended up
ordering it from Ikea in England and I P
it over in my suitcase last

week so the legs on the um oven on the
cooker are adjustable so we’ve just made
them higher so that
they and he’s checking on car he’s not

hey we are having a few problems with
the sink and while Carlo is dealing with
that I am making a mess and but I’m also
cooking and I’m using the bathroom sink
to throw out some prawns don’t tell
Carlo I’ve changed because I just washed
hly and I got absolutely soaked and it’s
very hot so put something nice and cool
on on I’m making um pasta with asparagus
and
shrimp and I’m just sort of bumbling
around trying to figure out where
everything is and how I can do it
without using the sink but it’s all
seems to be
working so I’m frying off some onion
I’ve just cooked some asparagus for
about 5 minutes just so it’s soft and
I’m squishing it up it’s supposed to be
um blitzed in a blender but I don’t have
one yet one arriving
now think these quite good one 2
3 so we have left the kitchen and we’ve
bought some
vses a lot quite a lot of vses some
plastic and some terracotta that’s
obviously a plastic
one and another ban
Villa so that one is going to go against
this column here in the sunshine
that will go in
there and then rather than filling this
big one full of Earth we got a little
thing and we’ll put something like that
in
Shuffle it until I’m happy but that’s
sort of more or less what I wanted and
then the square ones will
go they’ll go there with the B inside
come
on froma because that needs to be at the
back
somewhere that’s
s
see while Carlo is playing with the
plants he’s actually taken the Suzuki
and he’s gone to get Earth to fill some
of the vases with I don’t know where
he’s gone I’m playing around with the
furniture again so um originally my idea
was that this island would be big enough
to seat up to eight people which is
which means we can move the big table
somewhere else and I’ve just moved it I
forgot that I was filming so I’ve just
moved it so there’s a big empty space
there so now I’m going to have another
reshuffle and I wanted to do this on my
own before I came back but I don’t think
I can get the sofa through the doorway
on my
[Music]
own maybe
[Music]
okay how did we get it in here how did
we get it in
[Music]
so annoying when I can’t do things
[Music]
alone did
[Music]
it right is
it
[Music]
now and here we go it is looking good
it’s not quite finished yet but it looks
pretty good to me
[Music]
we need to put the little skirting
boards in around the
back
here and along the back here there’s
going to be a couple of shelves going up
there there’ll be something there but
we’re not sure what
yet and we have yet again moved
everything around and put a little desk
in for now which is quite handy and I’m
really happy with
[Music]
it good morning today is a very

  1. The kitchen looks very nice. I canโ€™t believe the hide of the previous owners of your house. They should be ashamed of themselves! If they did this in Australia there would be legal consequences.

  2. I love all you have done to improve your new home. It looks so comfortable to be in. May you be blessed for many years there. Everything came together so beautifully! You both have excellent tadte.
Be always grateful ๐Ÿ™ and kind hearted as you are. Love โค๏ธ others , leave the hate outside your lovely home , life is to short to let negativity in.
You both seem to be very loving people. Keep it that way. ๐ŸŽ‰Enjoy life to it's fullest โœจ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’–

  3. Wow your new kitchen is so beautiful. You must be so excited to see it all coming together. I renovated my kitchen a couple of years ago now and know the feeling. Love the colour and effect of the walls in the kitchen too. So excited for you both to see you both putting your own touch and feel to your new home.

  4. I was shocked by the previous owners taking the kitchen sink, light bulbs, and finally moving out at night, BUT their coming back to dig up flowers/shrubs, so many months after selling the property and moving, just about finished me off!!!
This was a seller from the bowels of hell, I had no idea such people existed.

  5. Your kitchen is perfect Nicki! The living area looks so cozy and inviting without that big dining table. I'm so happy for you and Carlo. You are making your new home so beautiful ๐Ÿ˜

  6. Love the new kitchen & wall color. Also the way you moved the furniture around, makes the space much more welcoming. Magazine show worthy. ๐ŸซถAwesome team work ๐Ÿ‘

  7. Your kitchen looks great! I love, love, love the color you painted the back wall – perfect! I also loved your outtakes at the end – indeed, you are a normal family! Thanks for sharing everything. Laurie

  8. Hopefully the previous owners do not come back for anything else. I would keep all my receipts in case I had to pursue any future trespass. In the US once the property is sold, that is it, what you left is no longer yours. Unless you told someone they can come back for something, but only when you are present to observe what is taken. The house will be lovely as you continue to progress. Love it!

  9. Nicki, your dream has been realized with the assistance of Carlo. Your kitchen is lovely. Wishing you many delicious meals and great conversations shared with family and friends. A la prossima.

  10. Gasp and swoon! This kitchen makeover is stunning. You have outdone yourself. Perfection! Congratulations. I am LOVING watching the transformation of your house into a home. Bravo.

  11. The kitchen is gorgeous ! Hope you don't mind me saying but thought the first configuration you made with the two sofa's was beautiful..Love the pots & plants, paint colour, stone fireplace , curtains .. it all looks really lovely .And the "love & marriage " bleepers at the end ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ˜„ best wishes frim a Brit in Torinto .

  12. I watched this twice! It is all really coming together! At first I did not see the โ€œvisionโ€ but I love it! Good job you two. โค. the Terra cotta planters and bougainvilleas! ๐Ÿ™Œ. Have fun. Kristin in Colorado.

  13. The kitchen is fabulous. Well done! Love that it arrived to a herald of the bells. The whole space indoor and out is now so inviting. Many peaceful mornings and happy days and nights will happen with family in this beautiful home. โค

  14. Loved your gorgeous home!! Kitchen and living looks awesome!! Can't wait to see that bougenvillas grow around the frontyard..soo pretty!!๐Ÿ˜Š

  15. Nicki and Carlo, wouldn't it be time to rename your channel Nicki Toscana since Amalfi videos have become few and far between? Either that or set up a new channel about Tuscany?

  16. Your kitchen is absolutely lovely!! Thanks again for sharing your life! I look forward each week with gusto to see what you have been up to! Love from NY!

  17. Thank you for putting in a quality kitchen , I think Iโ€™ll ๐Ÿคฎ if I see another kitchen from IKEA in Italy againโ€ฆโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜Š
