Zadar Bus Station – Location, Tickets & Getting to City Center

Today we’ll explore the bus station
in Zadar, a city known for having the
most beautiful sunsets on the Adriatic.
We’ll show you where the bus station
is located, how to get there,
what facilities are available, and what
are the transportation options to the city.
For starters, whether you
need to find the station,
or you’re arriving from another
city so you’ve found yourself here,
the address of the bus station is
Ante Starčevića 1.
The station sits about two kilometers
from the historic city center
and two and a half kilometers
from the Gaženica ferry port.
In case you have a lot of luggage,
or if you’re traveling in the summer
months and it’s too hot to walk, there are
several transportation options to the city.
The first option is the easiest one,
but also the most expensive one, and
that is taking a taxi, Uber or Bolt.
The taxi stand is located
right next to the bus station,
on the south side,
and you can’t miss it.
If it was a little closer, it
would be at the station itself.
If you want a cheaper option,
there is a stop for local buses
on the western side of the station,
from where you can see
the big sign "Bus Station Zadar".
You can reach the city center
by taking bus lines 2 and 4,
while bus line 9A
takes you to the ferry port.
If you need to go to the Zadar airport,
platform number 8 is the usual departure
point for the bus that will take you there.
However, we recommend that you check the timetable
in advance due to possible platform changes.
As for the bus station
itself, although it is small,
it connects Zadar with larger Croatian
cities like Zagreb, Split, and Rijeka.
Regional buses to towns such as
Biograd, Nin, or Petrčane
also depart from the station.
They usually depart from platforms
with high numbers, but again –
make sure to check the exact
platform number beforehand.
The station is pretty easy to navigate.
There are about 30 platforms, and platform numbers
are clearly marked with large yellow signs.
However, it would be a good idea to arrive
at least half an hour before the departure,
especially if you are traveling in high season.
Zadar is a popular destination,
so crowds are expected.
Bus tickets can, of course, be
purchased at the station itself.
However, considering the large crowds
in the summer months,
we recommend buying tickets online.
This way you will be sure
that you have a seat on the bus
and you won’t have to wait
in endless lines in unbearable heat.
And while others are waiting in lines for tickets,
you can sit down for a coffee in one of the cafes
at the station or grab a bite in one of the
nearby bakeries or fast food restaurants.
Also, at the station, you will
find several ATMs and kiosks.
There is a public toilet at the station,
but you will have to pay to use it, so
make sure to have some coins with you.
In addition, on the west side, across
the road, there is a large supermarket.
And that would be about it
as far as the bus station
in Zadar is concerned.
