Traveling Europe – Welcome to Kotor Montenegro! Wine and Traditional Dinner
well good morning we’re off to [Music] Montenegro all righty fellow Travelers welcome back to Adventures of a traveling Dawn and today we are leaving Albania and we are heading to Cotto Montenegro we are here at the bus station in Albania and I’m on that bus w the board and then we’ll be off to Couture so something to remember when you are traveling in this part of the world particularly by bus a lot of times you’re going to whether you to get into the station um like past the main gate or to um put your baggage in they usually have some kind of charge usually not a lot usually like one or two but you do have to usually have cash on you I’ve running it is in Serbia run into this in Montenegro um now running it into Albania Scorpio was the same thing so anytime you leave any of these places make sure you have at least a minimal bit of cash so you can either get into the Gated terminal area or it’s free your luggage by the way you usually have to spend a little bit of cash um just to kind of get going sad I know usually it’s like right before you leave you’re like drop all the money on the last dinner maybe tip better but no always keep a little bit with you [Music] [Music] to [Applause] all right we have now officially crossed the border in to Montenegro [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right so we’ve stopped in paga this is the capital of Montenegro we’re only here for about a quick 25 minute break so you go to the restroom uh you can go into the cafe I got myself a little bread I forget the name of this pastry but it does have kind of like a little bit of cheese into it so kind of very similar to like those feta pies that we get but it’s a it’s its own Montenegro cheese so we’ll give it a bite real quick very [Music] good I do a lot more bread when I’m here in Europe doesn’t bloat me up as much as it does in the United States so so good but yeah you get little less than um half an hour stop here in the station really not much time to really get out to the city you do have to explore prob go so by itself but def we can get some lunch good oh one more thing uh here at the pagod station you have to use the restroom uh they do have bathrooms you do have to pay it’s like 40 Cent a Euro and bring your own toilet paper they don’t always have papers they’ll have like little paper on the table but they won’t they don’t have paper in the Stalls also it’s a squatting stall there is no seat I don’t know about the ladies room but I’m going to guess it’s about the same so yeah just be prepared for [Music] that by the way if you are ever in Montenegro and you are coming from badoda which is usually where you’d fly into take the drive or take a bus down to cotor or buva as you’re heading to buva you just get these views along the coast the Adriatic and it’s just absolutely amazing with the mountains like the whole Drive uh that you guys have seen is fantastic through the mountains like it is like Montenegro or Zora is actually the name of it means basically black mountains because like the mountains around here a lot of it is like Black Rock it’s like that volcanic style Rock and it’s just it’s epic you’ll see more when we get to goor and also when I do a full video on goor in the next video but I just love the drives around particularly the coastline here and in C certain of the mountain ranges and national parks in Montenegro it is a beautiful country [Music] [Applause] [Music] so as you can see behind me in these walls we have made it to cotour Montenegro and the main part of cotour is this old town and this is a UNESCO world heritage site site so we’ll delve more into cure in that next video particularly the history and stuff but I can tell you right now this is my third time being here in the last 6 years I love this place we’re going to go in and check into the Airbnb and then maybe go find something to eat or I might have some time before I can check in the Airbnb so we’ll get something to eat either way we’re going to get something to eat and check in [Music] [Applause] okay so room was ready here in Couture and I’m kind of on the back end of uh the Old Town first and foremost I love walking through that City just cuz like all the little different small Alleyways and stuff it’s it’s so much fun but anyway so I’ll give you a quick tour and then we’ll go out and maybe grab kind of like a light lunch uh since it is about 3:00 right now I want to just get a snack tied me over then we’ll have a little bit more of a dinner afterwards later on tonight so anyway let me just show you this is a studio apartment this is a little bit more than what I’ve been paying in other places cure has started to get very expensive since it has become much more um famous and popular when it comes to tourists when I was here first time in 2018 something like this would have been more like $35 $40 during the offseason it’s now closer to about 55 so but it is still really nice so of course bathroom in here does have a washer so got a washer nice setup for the bet this is really really good um so you have like a small cupboard section for all your clothes and then of course pretty much a Full Table kitchen smaller version but a small full refrigerator I mean you guys have seen I’ve had less than that but yeah this whole kitchen setup is nice this is actually a relatively very nice studio apartment so for 55 not too bad at all uh particularly location tomor or for me tomorrow for you guys next week when the next video comes out uh I’m not that far from the walk to go up to the castle which I’ll do in the next video but yeah very nice by the way before we go out I just wanted to point out our toilet paper here is also salmon color I’ve never seen that before I’m now wiping my butt with salmon colored toilet paper [Music] cool all right so before we actually go get something to eat I wanted to go stop and grab a drink at this place called Old Winery wine bar this is on the back end I’ve actually been here before and I kind of forgot where it had been and then I spotted it when I came out cuz I’m just down the alley from here and I I totally forgotten where it was in Kotor but I knew it was on the backside somewhere along these streets and I found it and I was like okay I got to go back in here cuz it’s a Swanky cute little wine bar it’s mostly all um Montenegro wine and Montenegro has a great great wine culture you know history of wine in this area obviously we’re not too far um from the Adriatic the Bay dumps into the Adriatic there’s been wine growing here for hundreds of thousands of years so but we’re going to have just to try one of their local Reds [Music] cheers that’s fantastic little fruity um on the front end it’s almost kind of like um it’s like raspberries maybe some cherries in there but very smooth very nice so yeah if you’re ever in go to come to like the back streets um almost towards uh the mountain and towards as you’re going up to the castle and it’s called Old Winery wine bar I think it’s actually in English um on Google Maps so you can find it but this is great this brings me back [Music] [Music] back so change of plans after that glass of wine particularly since spent probably about 4 minutes to an hour there Sun’s about to go down it is still only about 4:30 but eating now and then maybe eating 7 8:00 I want to get up a little bit earlier tomorrow so I can start creating the cotour video for you guys so we’re actually going to do kind of dinner fully here um at this place called decad daa and it’s kind of like right in the center of Oldtown first off a lot of these restaurants are kind of like off into like little squares some of them are in back alleys things like that but this one looks pretty good and it’s got a pretty good trip advisor reviews so wanted to check it out I haven’t done this one before and I got myself a pretty nice plate as well so it’s kind of like U Chef party so basically it’s kebabs so we’re doing kebabs this is the big thing right here this is called kimok this is their own brand I haven’t ever had it where it’s got these kind of like um herbs in that so I’ve had just traditional kyok in Serbia and in Montenegro before four and that’s kind of like clotted cream to an extent um so we’ll go and give it a try real quick just to see how their kok is oh that’s great that’s good yeah it’s it’s not necessarily feta cheese or sour cream it’s kind of like somewhat in between like I said it is clotted cream it’s not sweet or any anything and it’s great to put on bread so just a little kimock on top of bread is one of the best things give a try real quick oh yeah I’ve been waiting to have kimok this entire trip I love kimok it’s so so good and then we’ll go ahead and try these kebabs um I think it’s a mixture of beef and pork so go ahead and try those smells good those cops are nice they kind of I don’t know if they fry them um at least the Skin’s on the top cuz it has a nice little cristas to it but that is fantastic yeah they do a very very good job yeah de check it out try of like right in front of the one of the main churches here in cotour you’ll see that in the next video really nice little small square kind of like halfway between the Gates and then the mountain so really good and then of course comes with a small side salad and some potatoes some chips all good [Music] stuff man that food was really really good uh something to keep in mind I think it’s across mon gr but specifically here in places like cotor and all the little towns around the Bay of cotor because it’s become so popular particularly during the summertime prices have gone up um you know this meal is costing me probably close to about 2324 including the bottle of water honestly this big bottle of water that you see right here that that cost me 540 I’ve never been charged that much for a bottle of water so things are at a premium for a relatively generally inexpensive country like Montenegro and I think slowly Montenegro is going to kind of start bumping up the ranks in how expensive places are particularly around the Bay of cotor which is a hot spot when it comes to tourism um there is also a charge that they put on pretty much every uh meal so in a lot of places in Europe it’s all kind of included generally in into the bill you don’t really see it individually here you do see it individually um they they did pass a law where if they do add the one charge for it’s like for cutlery cleaning Cutlery and the um uh the place mats and stuff they have to put it on the menu so if it you do not see it on the menu if they cannot point it out on the menu technically it’s supposed to be illegal for them to but if they do put it on there um then it is is now on you to have seen it on the menu but just be aware if you see like a one charge that is going to be the charge for just kind of like almost like a cleaning fee to an extent um and I believe that is across Montenegro but you see it specifically a lot lik places like Kor buha which are very high traffics for tourists so just a tip for you when you’re dining out and go [Music] [Applause] a couple things to note for you guys by the way because it is an Oldtown cotour a lot of the systems you know sewage systems water systems are not as good as say where we just came from Tana they’re fine uh for what you need however I do recommend doing bottled water some places I’ve been to tap water is fine most places in Europe here it’s not an issue per se but uh if you have shall we say just general stomach problems like I usually have anyway I try not to test it so uh there are markets and like grocery stores outside the main Town um there are a couple within Oldtown but they’re finicky particularly during uh during summer it’s not a problem but if you’re coming here during the offseason it can be a little tough cuz sometimes they’ll just be closed for the season or they’re picking on their days that they’re open so I just went out to uh I think it’s called Vol Vol and it is a simple simple uh you know 7 8 minute walk to get there get yourself a couple bottles of water and I got myself also a bottle of wine because it was €6 for a glass of wine and I was like you know what I can get a big old bottle like one lit bottle for €2 at the store so I’ll be drinking wine from a bottle at the store and then I’ll just go out and eat once and have my snacks that I already have I didn’t realize cotor and Montenegro had gotten so so expensive compared to what uh they were about 5 years ago uh even two years ago when I was here during 2021 um or like like early 2022 it was still kind of like Co stuff and most places were closed so we didn’t actually even eat here but it was still interesting so how much it’s really kind of blown up particularly pricewise so anyway back to the back to the room all right travel on so that is going to be the end of this uh day trip tour to cotour the next video I’ll kind of like go throughout all of Oldtown and kind of showcase like a lot of the history places uh to see attractions we’ll go around the uh to like near the water around the bay a little bit uh we’ll try and get up to the Fortress I’ve got rain I think in my forecast for tomorrow for me when I’m filming so we’ll see about getting up that mountain I’ve tried it once in the rain it was uh it was a little tricky cuz it wasn’t too bad at the beginning but the higher I got like the harder the rain got and then literally as I started going down the less the rain got I was like hm the god of the mountain here is uh a little finicky with me but anyway we will make the attempt on the next video for you guys so I hope you guys like this video if you have any questions go ahead and leave those in the comments below I’ll also leave a link for this Airbnb down in the description so if you guys want to stay here great little studio for either a single The food that you ate is called cevapi, it's not a kebab. If you're still in Kotor try Fotruna Food, it's near the place where you walked at night (across the road from Camelia shopping center), everything they have is good, but I'd recommend grilled calamari in lepenja (local bread). I've never seen that food anywhere else in the world.
Interesting city food looks good, def bring own toilet paper for cities like that lol.
Appreciate the toilet information 🚽 good looking out lol the plaza streets look so enchanting! Thank you for sharing tourist economy can make a big difference but very nice accommodations.
I agree, that busdrive along the coast looks epic!
I have never heard of Kotor, but it looks really nice! 😊
Montenegro is a country I visited last year and absolutely loved. Kotor is a highly popular tourist destination, which is why everything there is quite expensive, especially in summer. The significant investments from wealthy individuals, particularly Russians, have influenced its development.
Hello Adventures of A Traveling Don, you have a very nice channel but I think you are missing something while uploading a video, which is why your YouTube channel does not rank at the top of search results. As a result, you may not succeed in achieving your goals.
