Best Place To Stay in Vietnam? Best Recommended Choice in Hanoi

okay getting a massage here this is crazy are you looking for soup or just I don’t know I’m just looking forood something okay well I’m not exactly sure where we’re at in anoi but this is pretty clean here uh for sure [Music] well I’m glad we did this tour I would have never known that this [Music] existed well good morning everybody Paige and Chuck here in really we’re in Oldtown Hanoi here this is kind of where I decided to go on my my quest for checking out Hanoi the big city looked kind of I don’t know this place looked a lot funner for uh for all of us to kind of hang out yeah we’re having a great time here looking for food this morning I don’t think I could eat anymore when you walk around here basically all you see are like coffee shops things to eat uh beer stuff like that but it’s a very cool Town everybody seems really really friendly just about well I would say a lot of people don’t speak English esec especially the older ones it seems like the younger ones speak English pretty well so the new generation yeah the new generation seems to and the lady here at the hotel which I do recommend this hotel speaks perfect English and the gentleman here speaks English I think all the maybe all the staff speaks English here so let’s go find something real quick for AG cuz she’s hangry and um yeah we’ll talk some more I think tourist the areas are more accommodating for firsttime visitors places it’s kind of where we usually pick up but this isn’t necessarily like a lot of foreigners here it’s mostly Vietnamese people that one which one this one okay no we’re looking for food and one hour Pig will be dying oh go go go go go go but since we’ve never been to Hanoi and it was the same as when we went to Japan we kind of know what to expect but we stayed we stayed in the city the whole time mostly but there was some weather problems outside of that too so we just stayed in Tokyo but we are going to go to dang which we have been there before a long time ago that’s a cool crazy looking little place [Music] there but and it’s seems like the foreigners are all like in one little section here for the most part from what I can tell in the last few days a lot of massage places I did get a massage and I talked a little bit about it the other day so the massage sign said 200,000 but that was for 30 minutes so the massage oil massage which was an aroma massage was 300,000 which was like $112 and did not require a tip so normally I do tip but I wanted to I wanted to test out the theory of not tipping which way babe I don’t know I are you looking for soup or just I don’t know I just looking for free something to eat okay I know you’re angry so I’m trying to help but I don’t know I don’t know what to do so I’m just going to follow you [Music] we’ve actually orange juice we’re sitting kind of at the same place we had soup the other day here uh which was really really really really good and very fast so we’re getting some soup again this morning and uh really fast like yeah so I’m having every time we travel I have some like digestion problems so I’m having some issues in the morning time which is not good that’s why we’re delayed this morning that’s still on no he’s awake he’s just not really interested in breakfast this morning see this might get you going yeah that’ll that’s definitely worth coming for right there you yeah okay thank you a lot of the problems well not really a problem but when we travel we want to try local food and everything smells so wonderful and looks so different so we’re trying all these aesome some new [Music] flavors very hot how’s yours is it okay with that huh it’s a juice it tastes different makes it sweet no a little salad like it’s a a little tiny orange some seed now you got some a little kind of pushy with the cells like if you don’t like acknowledge them they like come at you that the lady very pretty yeah like no you really want this but the guy you can say no one camera yeah and they okay the L’s kind of like don’t want to take no and answer Paige wants to go to Circle case she’s getting knowing her way around we’ve done probably five or six laps around this little town we may take another tour man the horns are crazy we may take another tour around the town today it’s a little bit quieter hopefully today it’s Monday the the the pro one problem I do have here is the vendors are little pushy and they overprice you um so it only happened to me once it happened with the water and then some food but I I won’t make the same mistake twice and then a lot of people they come up to you and they give you a price for something you say no and then it goes from 50,000 down to like 30,000 like no why didn’t you just tell me to begin with the price you want you know so I’m I want to buy some fruit hello hi not yet thank you I want to buy some fruit but there’s no pricing like in Thailand you’ll see like a price for most things um from the vendors and I’m I don’t know like I want to get some of that Mango Steam cuz it’s good for digestion but I don’t know how much it cost you know so if I find a market which I’m sure there’s one around we’ll get some more fruit [Music] [Music] you guys doing all right man good electric par sounds awesome because we won’t be I went out this morning and did like 5,000 steps and was drenched really yeah like 7:30 in the morning wow it’s hot hot 10 n we have come up with the game plan to go ahead and get on the on back on the electric uh I guess you can call it a golf cart the electric cart tour but uh they had the streets closed a little bit last time we went so maybe we can get a different route this time and if we see something interesting we can always go back check it out but it’s still it’s like very humid right now we uh we have a flight tomorrow at 8:00 in the evening tomorrow is the last day of the holiday we we’re quite distance away actually I think we’re only like 25 km from the airport but with the traffic it takes uh quite a bit of time so uh we’ll figure out we got to go to the lake which is this way straight straight down you want to go one more going that way because this way tra watch the hole the that’s the [Music] one well that’s cool look at that like a ebik but a a little gas powered bicycle very nice a motorized Moto bicycle moto bike motoike tell them to turn off the commentary or don’t turn on the commentary yeah cuz it’s kind out of sink anyway yeah now yeah I’m okay sitting anywhere you want so I think this street has been closed here for the past couple days but it looks like it’s become a parking lot now yeah like City are you on that L Hop On Hop on yeah we did that what if anything this is like a really cool roller coaster ride except it’s it’s reality yesterday it’s more busy huh yeah yesterday he did not care he was just cruising right through it keep your hand inside we don’t even think we stopped at a stoplight lik well there’s one that fell down first time I’ve seen somebody fall off the bike so far wor about the bike and drop the temp that was train station we could have came here and just took the train to all the way I think they have have I don’t know I know have you all live Thailand Tha Embassy you come here and get a Visa a little bit different than the old town bod bod bod B yeah [Music] [Music] no said that’s a prison look at that roof it’s nothing but glass of the wall on top of the wall yeah is that that’s a court Court Supreme Court oh Supreme courth House [Music] book Street oh nothing but book Califoria CH if you like to read the they have [Music] Tre I like that yeah same they have big big they keep in B they put all the um electric things on the ground they should be able to do the [Music] very nice well I’m not exactly sure where we’re at in Hanoi but this is pretty clean here uh for sure and a lot of big trees Tre you like the trees I know it looks it looks clean and organized but it doesn’t look as fun where we’re I think where we’re staying looks a little bit more entertaining you had a for somebody that’s walking you know but I guess you could rent a bicycle it’s not chaotic here at least not at the moment yeah no this is the business and the embassies and it’s a holiday weekend and oh yeah yeah a lot of people are off up scale up scale yeah was the British Embassy over there I don’t know what that is what the guy saying is [Music] opera house that is a big Opera House wow blue oh government government House Government house well I’m glad we did this tour I would have never known that this existed mhm I know it I mean it kind of looks like any kind of nicer city in America you know well maybe not lately giant Central Central Bank oh there some beautiful buildings in this area that was really good I’m glad we got a chance to go visit that part of the city was very clean organized but looks like that’s where a lot of the official buildings are so I guess that’s to be expected that it’s stay clean and [Music] organized all right we’re going to just totally opt out of this bridge doesn’t look like it’s much of anything in there too many folks okay lead the way okay I got F so don’t be are you even color coordinating today yeah yeah we can we can go get food wherever you want to go she she’ll just go with what the what the what the f that’s what we need yeah we got to get that shirt we got to find a human size okay DZ wants to try to take tacos Vietnamese food and Mexican food that sounds interesting looks like to have air condition too okay cheers here’s two dad is uh great disposition since he’s drinking seven up Cheers Cheers [Music] all right I want to hit Daz up for a question out of all of the that’s not a good enough generic answer out of all of the Asian countries that that you have been to what is your favorite for what they all got you don’t have like a favorite one that you like I mean you live in kind Thailand is that your favorite I mean I like land as far as living there having fun and it being affordable yeah but Japan is totally cool what do you like the best about Japan I knew you were going to say Japan Japan it’s uh clean it’s organized it’s super easy to get around and they got GZA and Asahi super dry everywhere actually I I I haven’t been everywhere in Japan but I really like Japan too so we definitely want to spend some more time in Japan but it’s expensive there yeah once you’ve been there a couple times you figure out where where to go yeah it’s it’s like any anywhere you go you got to you know find the little mom and pop shops and everything I mean I definitely love Thailand cuz it’s it’s so affordable and people are so friendly oh yeah that’s what I love about it you know the first time first time we went to Thailand it was like going to Hawaii you know it was like being with island people but they weren’t on you know they’re not on the what about Japan are they they’re pretty friendly there now um it just depends on where you go you know a lot of people just stare at you because if you go like out the country I mean Thailand’s the same way Ean some places people stare at us cuz they haven’t se they’ve either seen very few foreigners or they they’ve never seen one before and there’s in Japan where I I know you’ve been to Japan many times so what is your favorite place in Japan uh it depends on on what it depends on on what you want to see what your goto spot well I oh my go to spot used to be Tokyo but I had a ex-girlfriend in Tokyo so it’s a big city I don’t think you can avoid her though yeah well I don’t mind I actually hang out or used to hang out with her I haven’t been back for a couple of years what’s it been four years now cuz I went just before cup so all right let’s ask Paige [Music] so out of all of the Southeast Asian countries other than Thailand cuz that’s where you’re from what is your favorite Asian country Southeast or Asian well it’s just okay we’ll say Asia I mean Asia is a big continent so what’s your favorite place in Asia Japan Japan yeah yeah mhm why is everything there it’s just expensive in nice clean very safe to roam around we don’t have to worry about anything you know everything like by the boot you you don’t have to think too much you somebody going to rob you or do anything so I think we are all in agreeance that our favorite place in Southeast Asia is or Asia is definitely Japan Japan is cool I I would say for myself like the transportation the food the getting around just it’s it’s just organiz very clean organized and a fun place and everybody’s like dressed like nobody like a lot of thing about Thailand is they really care about what they look like and they try to just kind of stay in order seem like in Japan everybody’s got their own style yeah the kids wear uniforms and stuff like that still there too but seems like everybody’s an individual there which I really like I like but um yeah I like Japan I like Japan too but I do love Thailand and that’s that’s where we chose to live mainly because of family but Japan there you go well that’s a pretty good copy of a taco right there I’m curious of how it tastes I think the beef here is pretty good like they know how to actually cook beef in Vietnam and that looks really good we both got the same pork and it comes with a couple of french fries cuz that’s what we need in our lives more french fries there Indonesia it looks pretty good I asked for extra jalapeno here in Vietnam they I was saying can I have extra jalapeno and she’s like huh and then she’s like pointing at the picture you want extra jalapeno like yeah I want jalap pios so in Vietnam that’s jalapeno how we say it jokingly them chapos all right that was good awesome Let’s uh go take a nap huh I’m all I haven’t had one yet I might be able to now now your Telly is okay we’re going to go we’re going to go walk around a little bit more this evening I don’t know what we’re going to do probably no and Dad’s get in trouble but if you guys come here I recommended this link in the description Box come here and speak to Hannah Hannah Hannah speaks perfect English you said you live you’ve been to the United States or Canada I traveled to New York for like a week and then I specifically study in Canada for 3 years three and a half years and then Europe afterwards for college where at Europe uh Austria Austria very cool have you ever been there no not Austria but that should be near yeah we just got back from Rome andain Spain well frch we went to Spain French French FR we went to France we went to France Italy yeah we went over there all right anyway she speaks perfect English thank you very much how long have you worked here uh almost two years two years oh very good so and she’s got a lot of good information about the city she can be your tour guide right I’m glad to help yeah of course all right let’s go party you want to go drink um no not today I’m here till 10 and a half morning shift what kind of what’s your favorite beer beer I’m not well not beer I drink I prefer to drink anything into any particular we’ll see you later all right I’ll bring you I’ll bring you some champagne back all right for that all right I say that away that away so that is a tight way to do construction right there like that’s not even barely an Alleyway they’ll probably build another home there or something that’s tiny or maybe they’re going to expand that not so busy in this area like it was the other day Monday yeah not um weekend walking the street bab they got sticker Vietnam sticker oh yeah got to get some for my suitcase I totally forgot about that I have to be now I’m sticky get that for your [Music] refrigerator well not as crazy as it was the other night but still pretty busy you know we’re going to get a massage but this is probably not the best area for that not yet no no no okay getting a massage here take a neck a neck she’s still like in the M like what should I [Music] do okay now that we’re relaxed we’re going to try to get out of this crowd and um go find something just to sit down a little snack and a beverage way to still busy in this area after getting the massage now it is almost 8:00 all this is very chaotic it’s cost about the same the land New York City it’s expensive here very expensive uh everything is Tiny here yeah very very expensive and that is long time ago maybe 20 year ago I don’t know about now it’s more so the guy say his house is 70 km from here we’re on a mission for some place that looks not so crowded kind of ethnic you know it limited for the homeless not too many homeless people here huh limit it’s too expensive and then no land outside [Music] we are still wandering de Garden [Applause] this place was recommended by the the lady at the hotel Hannah right Hannah Hannah Hannah and looks kind of interesting we separate the table because the table too small yeah but uh it’s not a very big uh very big restaurant it’s got a really tiny menu on there so we’ll check it out yeah I just yeah I think this is like the main popular thing here on the menu um salad with the got that no sauce Vietnamese Jimmy Dean need some fried eggs and hash brown is it a winter no is it chewy or what okay all right well that was interesting we it was kind of a popular I think we actually have to go back to the this is crazy it’s a little bit chaotic when everybody wants to be on their motorbike on these little roads and everything all right guys going to end the video we got 13,000 steps today yeah I don’t know the step thing’s not that it’s just kind of like a keeps you motivated to walk I guess a little bit yeah because you lose yeah so we can drink more beer tomorrow is actually the national holiday February here uh yeah 30 on the 30th reunification day I don’t know what is that when so good yeah anyway we’ll see you guys we’re going to have a whole day here still tomorrow our plane doesn’t leave till 8 so I feel like we’re probably going to be at the airport for a while because traffic so we’ll see you guys tomorrow we’re going to Danang dang in in Thailand they say dang dang bang and in Vietnam they say bang something like that they don’t say dang I thought it was dang but no I guess you can say dang I don’t have any beer but anyway good night see you [Music] [Music] tomorrow I having a party over there that light everywhere [Music]

Daily Vlog# 1796 This area seemed to have the most to offer for a first time traveler to Northern Vietnam. The Old Quarter has a lot to offer for a first time visitor. Weekend will be the best experience in this part of the city. Hotels are plentiful and maybe overwhelming when researching. After many options I picked this one and was very satisfied with our stay. Also found a tour to take on a ride to a part of Hanoi I would have never guessed was so clean and organised.

  2. you guys are amazing 👏 ❤️ vacationers walking is very very healthy and you doing it God bless 🙌 🙏🏻 you all a thanks for a great video blog 😀

  3. Great video and interesting comments on favorite places in SE Asia, just wondering if the rest of the crew have been to S Korea Hong Kong Phillipines Taiwan or Bali. Japan is one of my Favs as well. Enjoy your trip.

  4. Hi chuck and waving hi to Paige is Dax still with if tell him everything Miguel said H too tell Dax I love in citrus Hieghts ca if wants ever wants to meet

  5. Chuck, there’s a couple of pizza places there that you need to book ,they are fantastic, the girl at the hotel could probably tell you where it is,love your content.

  6. That prison you past is now a museum, the slang name is the ‘Hanoi Hilton” has a sad display from French colonial time plus it also housed some pows from the American war, has John McCains flight suit (he spent time there as well, you should go back and check it out

  7. I really paid much closer attention to this Video. At 19:40 mark as the Driver said Gov't house I saw a Mexican Flag flying in the background. 35:11 I wonder if the Circle K in Vietnam is as similar as the Circle K in San Antonio & the Tex-Mex border in the RGV ( Rio Grande Valley )??? Bahn Mi is my favorite too. That little orange you squeezed into your Pho is called " Calamanda" in Florida and Kalamansi in the Philippines. It is great on seafood. Plus today I heard a new word describing Paige's mood. Hungry + angry = Hangry. A good description.
Thanks for this inner city Hanoi tour .
Plus the Hotel clerk Hannah ? Her English is better than the clerks in the Bellaire area of Houston ( Houston's Vietnamese section )

  8. 1 last thing… I know all 3 of You Paige, Daz, & yourself prefer Japan as a whole. My question is : is Vietnam more expensive than Thailand???

  9. Most Japanese except the young ones still have the "gai jin" mentality towards foreigners (gai = outside and jin = male/female). So a gai jin is an outsider. They seem to be aloof from foreigners to the extend of being snobbish/cold fish.
But generally they are polite and helpful when you approach them.

  10. there is more to hanoi then old town. you know they builts a F1 pit building there supossed to been then in 2019 but the dude with the money to do it went to jail for corruption charges so it didnt appear but the pit building is still there

  11. Absolutely great stuff Chuck, really enjoying the longer videos.
Funny as, Paige angry as, needs food, typical Thai hahaha.
See Dazza advertising DJ bar Soi 7 haha love it.

  12. Another great video Chuck and Paige and Daz. Chuck is a smooth operator. Chat up lines are brilliant. The ALDO building looks magnificent

  13. Great video. Really enjoying this journey with everyone.
I like Japan as well. I was stationed at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan for a year. 1980-1981. Iwakuni is a beautiful small city, Honshu Island area if memory serves me. Very clean and very friendly people. Kintai Bridge and Castle is a beautiful place to visit nearby.
If I could, Iwakuni would be a perfect city to retire to. Thanks again for sharing the journey of your adventures.

  14. Chuck, don't base Japan pricing on Tokyo, that is a whole different price level than most of Japan. You guys like beaches, I recommend you check out Okinawa for a visit, it is different than any other place in Japan. If you want to see Japan that closely resembles they way it used to be, then recommend Kyoto, with Osaka a great city very close by. Feel free to check out our vids on each location

  15. Hey Chuck awesome video as always. Have to disagree with you on the cost of Japan, just went there for Golden Week and found it to be very cheap on many places and many items. Have to agree with Daz very clean and nice, love it and we are in the process of looking for long term stay. Safe travels

  16. Agreed. I met one of my good Vietnamese friends from this city. I am still friends with her to this day after over 6 years. Thanks for the series so far 👍

  17. Those little tiny oranges with your soup are Calamansy used extensively in Philippines. Great you stay off track and showcase the unknown areas thanks for that. I was always told Vietnam is a barter scenario where you should offer half of what they ask. Maybe times have changed it. Bushyboy Oz.

  18. That wasn't just 'a prison'. That was the 'Hanoi Hilton'. After your reaction to the War Remnants Museum in Saigon, I assume you do not want to go in there. 😢 Neither do I. 😢 15:30
