Hi everyone, in this episode of Frankfurt Walking Tour, we will walk around the Frankfurt City West. By request we’ll walk around Ohmstraße and Voltastraße area.

City West has a resident population of around 5,000 people and offers around 18,000 jobs (as of 2007). It is a location with a planned mix of predominantly new residential and office buildings as well as hotels. Most office buildings are used by insurance companies and financial service providers, while the residential and commercial buildings are of a higher quality. Green zones were systematically created between the buildings, which in the latest marketing fashion of real estate companies are called “pocket parks”. Along Theodor-Heuss-Allee to the south there are high-rise buildings with a height of around 70 meters and on this side they form a characteristic skyline and the visual border of City West.

The mixed-use development has attracted a relatively high number of restaurants serving international cuisine (Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese) as well as several cafes and a cocktail bar offering both lunch for employees and evening dining for residents. A city supermarket with a high proportion of organic products has been open since 2010, and further shopping options include several bakeries, a flower shop and a kiosk. City-West’s service providers include a fitness studio, hairdresser, nail salon, massage parlor and car rental.
