Why does it take Europe so long to make new subways?

so sometimes people wonder why it takes so long for them to put in new Metro lines or redo streets when they’re here in Europe and I’ll be honest with you it’s because when you dig up things around Europe you find historic relics you find Church artifacts and this morning I was here and they’re actually digging up skeletons that were in the dirt here so I don’t think this parking lot’s going to be done for a while but that’s just some of the reasons why when you’re wondering what’s taking so long it’s just all the history they find when they’re digging around cuz it’s not just history in the buildings some times it’s underneath them

  1. In my hometown, Naples, a fully carbonized boat from the ancient Romans' times has been dug up when trying to build an underground metro line station.

Edit: some news reported that 3 boats were actually extracted at that time.

  2. It's interesting that places like China will also have quite a bit of history underground, however they don't seem to value it as much and just plough through with the underground infrastructure
