Murmured Mykonos (Greece)

hi I’m Kevin and I’m Sarah and we’re the global geezers we are on the island of mikinos Greece ship came in last night we’re just going to explore the island like we normally do the global gezer way yeah no plans just to walk around and check it out yep and we’ll take you with us so let’s [Music] go [Music] time to catch the bus you can two ways to get into the city bus or water taxi there’s only one Water Taxi so yeah the sun’s not in the best position we’ll try to get this later when the sun’s behind us or over on the side they drop you off right in a like a little public shopping area so you can buy all your junk right off the bus that’s nice let’s go take a a look at mados so we still have to walk somewhat into the city there’s our map to the [Music] city they do have their collection of cats here that’s for sure people feed them too it’s [Music] nice [Music] we are walking into town and we’re hearing what sounds like a call to prayer but we hear a female singing well it’s a female and a mail which we’ve never heard in a call to prayer so we’ll see yep a lot of white kind of like sanini which we didn’t get to see cuz of weather conditions is that a cute little Little [Music] Chapel all right this is the first opportunity that we’ve been that we’ve had to get off the main road so we’ll see what we find over [Music] here so in case you haven’t noticed yet everything here is white it’s like a stucco and it’s painted white and then all the shutters and doors are [Music] blue looks like there are some that are green oh here’s a light blue or they just haven’t painted it yet that’s what it looks [Music] like oh that one’s yellow I shall be [Music] corrected [Music] this is the Red Corner this is the red section Blues Blues Reds greens and [Music] grays coming out of the side of the building that is [Music] interesting [Music] shopping area maybe yeah I think this whole area is [Music] shopping it’s shopping when it’s in season right now it’s at the end of the season so a lot of things are closed like in every port we’ve been to so far [Music] it is Sunday so yeah we’re going to run across a few church services I’m sure okay so we just found a church because we heard them singing the windows are open you can probably still hear them from the background but something that hi something that please keep in mind if you’re watching this when you travel to other countries just try to be thoughtful of other people’s ways and um we just had some really loud people just almost yelling around the corner of the church to each other over and over while they’re having this service and so and I don’t think they even realized what they were doing but I guess we all just need to be mindful of where we are and being respectful of you know whatever other people are doing you know if you need to stop and look at a map if you need to get something out of your backpack or something you know scooting out of the way so other people can get by you know little things it makes all the difference so um and when you don’t it it everybody seems to notice those things so if we all just kind of do our part I think it makes a makes it a little bit nicer there’s a Folk Museum and it’s [Music] closed [Music] these are very little churches [Music] tiny [Music] these look like they must be sists that they draw the water [Music] from looks like we’ve come across a school and right now we have no idea where we are we’re just walking through the [Music] streets cute little ampath theater kind of just in the middle of it here like the other Islands we’ve stopped at tourist season’s over so you get to see the area without the tourists but everything’s closed so there’s a tradeoff and since we’re not buying things these days it’s kind of nice to just have the place to ourselves so we don’t have to worry about other people and bumping into people and stuff like [Music] that we found a little side street there nobody on it hi Kitty hi oh come on it’s okay [Music] A [Music] this is a pretty sleepy town in the winter and on a Sunday but it’s really pretty to walk through well we found the windmills but their sales are not on the windmills right now so like I said even they shut down for the season [Music] the backside of the windmills better [Music] lighting it’s a really pretty walk along the the edge of the water here and they have benches where you can just sit bring a picnic if you wanted it’ be really nice of course the wind is blowing my hair all over the place can’t you see it’s just and here’s the little church that we saw from the other side [Music] yep back into the maze here we [Music] go [Music] these little churches are everywhere through this town you can find them just about every 100 150 [Music] ft that’s like a four in one four churches in one that’s what I’m talking that’s nice that they let you [Music] know [Music] yeah there’s just there’s just nothing open we’ve made it down to the Waterfront and we’re going to walk along with all the other tourists our basically everybody on the ship there’s a little fish cleaning area right here for the boats to come in place to clean your [Music] fish found the crowd this is a bigger one it is it’s a bigger Church probably the biggest one we’ve seen fairy just came in dropped off a bunch of people over [Music] there unfortunately this is not a lot of room to walk with the cars going through imagine with the summer crowd and the cars coming [Music] through that’s our time in me us was short just like every other cruise port it is a Sunday and it is off season so there’s not a lot going on in the city um it’s awesome if you just want to see the town without people to come during offseason but if you want the whole I don’t know the whole experience you’re going to have to come when it’s a little busier and it’s not in the middle of winter that’s it for us here we are on to the next Port which will be back in Italy but we’ll see you next week until then bye [Music] bye or water taxi there’s only one here like the other lion here we go pretty sleepy Town what see un even surf like tripping over every step you are cute I got got to watch where I’m walking yeah you do but that’s it for us here we me to do that a little more smooth that’s it for a te but we’ll [Music] see [Applause]

This island stop is very popular, and we were looking forward to experiencing it without hoards of people, since it was winter. We’ll show you what it was like – the good and the bad – so you can decide when you’d prefer to go.
