UNESCO-protected Sighişoara is one of Europe’s remaining hidden travel treasures. It’s astonishing that so few tourists visit it, considering Sighişoara’s pastel-coloured buildings, cobble-stoned lanes and medieval towers are some of the most beautiful in Europe. It goes without saying that taking a day trip to Sighişoara is one of the best things you can do with your time in Romania.

Sighişoara in Transylvania, is one of the most ancient towns in Romania, with a history dating back to the 1st century AD. Over the milleniums, Sighişoara took on fortified walls that encircle the old town, was decorated with radiant merchant houses, and gave birth to the bloodthirsty ruler of Wallachia, Vlad the Impaler, A.K.A Count Dracula. Today, Sighişoara is Romania’s most enchanting medieval town, filled with gingerbread houses, trendy cafes and craft shops (with a whole lotta vampire-themed souvenirs).

Take some time lose yourself exploring the town with a full day trip to Sighişoara. It’s alleys, hikes, churches and cafes will satiate all your thirsts.

We stopped in Sighişoara as part of a 2 week Romanian road trip.
