Exploring Saint Emilion’s Historic Sights Without Wine Tasting! Day Trip from Bordeaux (May 2024)
so let’s see bottom [Music] line but driving in it looks so much like Sonoma County so those of you who are familiar with Northern California and have not been to S milon just know other than like older chat for the for the it looks like you’re not missing no I’m just it looks like Sona County yeah all right we’re going to look around St to mil on some more and then have some lunch and then probably jump on a train and get back to bordeau Yep this is not quite a stairwell it’s kind of a a cobble Cobble well here’s sort of Plum and so we have to go down this to get down to the tour oh boy watch your [Music] ankles well our videotaping of the Subterranean tour ended with the photo of no photos yeah and uh what we got a tour of was the monolithic Church of St emilion it’s privately owned so no photos were allowed and strangely enough we did not end up in a gift shop uh they didn’t have that in the 13th century or whenever they made it yeah so we weren’t able to uh get any photos it it was impressive though and it’s also included in your pass in the City Pass BAU so yeah you know and it was a decent sized group but once you get 30 there were 30 people in the group yeah once you got separated from the the masses it was fairly easy to hear and the g was very knowledgeable and informative and it moved pretty quickly so the hour uh came and went which was good because we were in the catacombs and we were locked in underground and uh I thought we would be able to make an easy getaway being the first ones out from the steps and yet we kept going lower and lower um oh [Music] I oh [Music] okay this is how Google’s sending us to get back to the train glad you didn’t wear your uh sandals today [Music] hurting impressions of St Amon it’s a lot like St Helen in the Napa Valley it’s uh very touristy lots of cute shops and restaurants and wine places a few historical type things but if you’re not into wine and you’re not into wine taste [Music] uh and you don’t want to be around a touristy place this may not be the place for you I mean it’s beautiful if you look around The Vineyards are absolutely gorgeous yeah it’s nice but we’re looking for uh little more path Les to se [Music] a [Music]
We had rain, sun, thunder, and hail today as we ventured out for a half day trip to Saint-Émilion. There were some great views and some historical attractions including the Église Monolithe de Saint-Émilion which is the largest monolithic church in the world. We opted not to do any wine tasting or purchasing and instead, wandered the streets, enjoying the beautiful views before taking the train back to Bordeaux.

There are wine tour options throughout the region. We looked at doing a cycling tour and none were available.
