Port de Soller – Mallorca – Majorca – 18th May 2024

well today’s the 18th of May it’s uh 2024 and we’re in soer we for walk around the town of soer and the plan was to get the tram down to the port but it was so crowded and so full it was standing room only we come back to the bus stop and hopefully going to get a bus down to the to the port let’s see if that works well we got the bus down no problem at all got a seat and I’ve managed to charge my battery a little bit which I was concerned might run out May still run out as we go down to uh the port of soer so this is the the roundabout where they drop you off and you have to walk down here and uh this takes you down into the port I’m not going to film all the way down here cuz it’s uh a little bit of a walk and uh my batter’s a bit short so um just follow the road down there’s another roundabout and then straight across and you down into the port so here’s the next roundabout and there’s a so prawn greeting us and we’ve just got to walk all the way around here now and more or less straight on and you’re virtually in the port so I’ll catch up with you when we get down there and here we are in the port of soer and well it looks pretty busy down here it is a Saturday lots of people out lot of loog out as well lots of beds on the beach with the parasols with the safes um just for your information that’s the road we’ve walked down and it brings us out right on the front here so we can have a little walk around see what’s going [Music] on and there’s quite a few people on the beach having fun lots of people on the prominade here’s the Trum that we didn’t get um so the Trum takes you from the town of soer down to the port of soer and the oneway journey is €9 now €9 one way uh so that’s €18 for the two of us if you were going to go back as well that’s obviously that’s €36 it must be really one of the most expensive Journeys on the island really it’s very very expensive uh compared with other things in fact I’ve had flight cheaper to the UK I think than that certainly to the mainland [Music] some people are going to call me a skin Flint now I think I just don’t like wasting money anyway the we got the bus down and that’s just as good um and we’ve done the tra on many occasions before we videoed it as well so not so important as we were coming down on the bus um the bus was held up in a bit of traffic we didn’t really know what it was until we got a bit further down and we saw they’d got some uh racing cars speeding off on a a race going up into the mountains something I haven’t seen in the papers so I didn’t know anything about it and I really can’t tell you any more than than what I saw it looked like you know one of these Formula One type cars on a smaller scale um possibly doing a hill climb I don’t know getting close to lunchtime so something we might be looking out for it is a very pretty Port though it’s almost circular so almost all the way around with a very narrow entrance you can’t even see from here uh it takes you out to the it’s the open Mediterranean and um so it’s it’s very well sheltered occasionally the wind is blowing in the wrong direction and the port gets a storm but it doesn’t really happen very often so this is a a great safety zone for boats [Music] just let you know what time it is it’s just after half 12 so it’s uh a little bit early for lunch suppose it’s brunch time so most of the people here just having a a cool beer to tide them on and enjoy the views and here we come to quite a lot of restaurants all on a row and this is where we’ve eaten in the [Music] past just found one of these that’s taken our fancy and I’m stopped off there I don’t think we’ve ever been disappointed just setting up all the tables ready for lunch here we’ve got some other boats that have been taken out of the water a good scrub down ready for the new season shops does like shs yeah I’m going to walk to the end and have a look [Music] yeah going to have a look in the shops as she does [Music] [Music] there’s lots of choice of different restaurants here and they’re all in competition so should be able to find a bargain or something good something that you fancy [Music] hello lots of music there may attract some people but it puts me up so I don’t like loud [Music] [Music] music [Music] tap oh we got a menu Dela menu ldia and there’s a choice of starters choice of main course poster uh or coffee you can have it is here or coffee €6 I think for the porter so yeah sounds like a good [Music] price do like uh looking at the boats something I’ve never actually wanted to own just like to look at [Music] [Music] them to there because they were [Music] camouflaging stormbringer and if we carry on along there H it’s where I fell over so I was doing a video along here and uh a little bit further down there I came AC cro I’d actually got a 360 video and uh if you watch the 360 video you can watch me in all my Splendor being ass over tit falling over trees are nicely pruned is the Terrace of the restaurants most of them behind them uh I’ve got other restaurant at least the kitchens this is like the end of the line for the the tra so tra sometimes come up to here while they let another one come up and then there’s a road that takes you up there eventually you can get to the very Posh hotel which I can’t remember what it was called but part of the group that had the have the hotel in Dubai referred to as a sevenstar hotel if such a thing exists you can see lots of tables up there as well got good views and it’s a lovely warm day probably mid mid 20s uh but as you can see at the mountains in the distance they actually have clouds covering the tops of them these mountains are really quite High got PUD mayor not far from here which is the highest mountain in newor and only a few weeks ago had snow on the top nothing like that now though but it’ll be very damp up there if it is in the [Music] clouds more loud music oh there’s Anita she do have [Music] shopping what have you [Music] found she’s done a little bit of shopping did you buy anything no had a look around the shops got no parasols in there no so this was the original place the shop across the road over there actually was the shop where I need to bought the original parasol and uh we’ve been back several times and they just have some small ones at one time now any now nothing at all so no parasols there but she did get one and we’ve got a shop in Palmer that sells parasols uh it’s actually an umbrella shop that specializes in anything like that fans umbrellas um and so she knows where she can get them from here and in England we uh we need to B one in England so she’s got English version which is actually very very similar to the one we got just got [Music] here to cross over and walk along by the [Music] shops no need likes the shops how’s my battery doing that’s my my concern at the moment it was uh dying or death my onom 15% so it’s not going to last me a lot [Music] longer you see [Music] [Music] [Music] looker pears and Ice scams get in the Trum back and this is uh TR stop [Music] tells us we in put though they so yeah it’s building here on this side been doing work there for quite a long time and it’s one of the places we walk past as we go up to uh one of our little tea rooms the lemon pie T room just up there nice shopping area well sad to say the lemon pie 2 room is no more well I’ve just walked around the corner and come across the wash area this is where traditionally the ladies it would have been the ladies would have come brought the washing and used the the water which is constantly being fed in here uh to do the [Music] washing well an’s got a a glass of local Red Wine it’s okay and uh well I’m on the beer I think why not no driving [Music] today well we’ve chosen a good nice range of different tappers so here we’ve got some chicken fingers with some Cajun sauce to Pon we always like some homemade uh cettas over there and we’ve got some nachos here some nice avocado [Music] and the coffee to finish off really nice really enjo that it’s very good and there’s the bill so we’ve got the water at the top my b550 and it is 9550 and then the Tapas were mostly 950 and we’ve just had two CA Copic ones C Lees which were 250 each 5625 [Music] well the lunch was at the it was at the Fergus hotels actually it was their restaurant and we’ve uh certainly enjoyed that really good anyway we’re going off home now and so that means up the road to catch the bus we’re going up to the uh bus now so I’m going to be leaving the quite so yeah it’s been lovely to be here again and it’s just the right time of the year to come when it’s not too hot and you can start to really enjoy it so thanks very much for watching and we look forward to seeing you in our next video so bye for now bye bye e

Please share with your friends.

After our walk around the town of Soller we made our way down to the port.
We were going to catch the tram, but there were lots of people waiting to get on and it looked like standing room only, so we made our way back to the bus stop.
This year the tram is 9 euros one way, which seems a lot to e for such a short journey and a big jump in price from the last time we caught it. Interestingly, the taxi ride to the port is advertised to be 10 euros! However, we didn’t see any taxis! For us the bus is free and the service is good.
We had our tapas lunch in the restaurant of the Fergus hotel, which we both enjoyed.

Thanks for watching.

  1. A lovely day out, and lunch looked good. I do agree, the train and tram are very expensive but I suppose you have to do it once for the experience. Thanks Steve and Anita.

  2. Thank you for the video. It brought back memories for me as I stayed there on a walking holiday staying at a small hotel on the other curve of the bay – the one you didn’t walk on. We explored into the hills, and on one day the guide had to arrange a coach back, as the boat we were due to catch was cancelled due to rough seas – on a perfect late April day! My daughter and family visit most years staying at the Esplendido before going to the other side of the island. The hills around that area Deya, Valledemossa (?spelling) are picturesque and can be reached by bus. Well worth a trip. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. My wife and I were regular visitors to Soller and its port for 12 years and we stayed 3 or 4 times a year throughout all the seasons. Sadly, she died at the end of January 2020 and then Covid hit. I missed a couple of years during lockdown but now I visit at least once a year and will be there in July. I have friends who live permanently in Soller but although I can stay with them I prefer to rent an apartment in the port and avoid the stairs in their apartment block! Thank you for two very good videos which always bring back lovely memories for me and I’m looking forward to my upcoming visit in not too many weeks time.

  4. Great video. we walk to soller and back as the husband is so cheesed off with the price of the tram now. we stay in port de soller though to be fair! back here v soon.

  5. So thrilled that you got down to the port. I totally agree that 9 euros per person each way is crazy, but they charge it because they can. The trams are pretty much always full. How can anyone forget your a over t incident, it amazes me that neither you nor your camera ended up in the water.
