Shocking: What Cape Verdean Women Think About Black People!

do kabo veran girls date uh the West African guys yeah in one 100 woman we can find one or two woman dating with them so very rare yeah and why why do you think that is because we see them as a mjo we we we don’t want to date those guys because they are because uh most of us most of uh caban women we think we are not African okay yeah we don’t want to date with everyon right in this video we will ask cap veran women what they think about Black Americans and Africans which might be even more interesting [Music] waiting for internship now start practicing great and they have trength cuz they live in a foreign country this video is brought to you by Cape Verde uncensored my detailed travel guide for those who want to visit this wonderful country there will be more information later in the video [Music] okay so who am I here with Carla and where are you from I’m from P but I live in teral okay so what do you think about Black Americans cuts hello and who am I speaking with Jessica Jessica and so what where are you from I’m from J Gord Bri okay now what do you know about Black Americans or what do you think about Black Americans well uh the perception we got about black American here in capfer is all coming from movies media social media and those kind of stuffs so what I think about black American is that there are such a powerful people and they have strength cuz they live in a foreign country as I can say like that they’re black they’re different and I think that they’ve been through a lot every day do do you know who black Americans are my name is Kya K and and what do you do um uh English study okay actually I just just waiting for internship now start practicing great so what do you know about Black Americans or African-Americans uh what the first thing that comes you uh to my mind is about culture and policies but it’s it’s uh it’s something that I really don’t know M because not my culture that’s uh uh I believe that understandable but when you when you talk about black people yeah it’s more it’s more easy for me to say but I have a little notion about black American uh what I used to S to see in movies okay and so what what what what does the mo what do the movies show you about the the the poor side of the story the periphery yeah because it’s the way is where they live difficult to live in the the big towns can be rich and those kind of things so it’s related to crimes uh the ones that are uh arrest okay by committing some crimes but most of the time they are not guilty they are innocent and it’s what we see mostly in movies do you think that the movies and media are giving you an accurate impression of black Americans well when you go there and you see with your eyes you see that there uh is a difference between the social media image about them and the reality because I think that uh the movies and we saw uh they are giving us more negative expects okay and when you go there and you see what your eyes was like truly happening you see that it’s not like the same thing as the movie there’s not always that kind of violence we see in the movies but I think that it’s it’s on the same line do you see any positive um impressions of black Americans in the media positive yes I I see mainly the some personalities we have actress we have actors they are black Americans I believe they are probably at least they are black people yeah and they have uh they they did actually a big differences I’m referring to opra for instance yeah Will Smith some names that comes to my mind yeah we have Mandela mhm so have you been to the United States yeah and so what was your experience with black Americans when you when you met them in the United States sometimes you feel like home because I mean we are the same color and that connect us to each other but sometimes you get treated in a different way because even though you’re black you’re not American like them so I think that there’s just a little difference so what are the cultural differences between black Americans and Cape Verdian let’s dig deeper to find out [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay so who am I speaking with you’re speaking with me Jenny and how old are you I’m 20 okay why do you look so young because here in cap ver most of cap vians looks young you know now um what are the differences between the cape Verdian culture and the Black American culture well I think they’re kind of the same because we were colon by Portugal and like we are mixed by Europeans and Africans so I think it’s kind of same yeah you can spend uh 20 years here in cabet and you move to America and you you become uh Black American you start to behave in a different way in one one year for example you spend 20 here in cabet and you move to America and you you start to behave in a different way from the way you you are us it to behaving okay so moving to America makes people change of course of course do they change in a good way I think so in a very good uh in a very good way here in Caper we have a Chill Lifestyle we like to I’m I’m not saying that they don’t have a Chill Lifestyle but it’s more different here cuz we like to parties and stuff like that and they’re what I see and they like allow to work work work work work okay yeah is that just America in general or Black America specifically like the knowledge I know about black American is that because I have families in America and they all just work all day and stuff like that okay okay so what are the changes that you notice uh for example cians they don’t they don’t treat well in a woman in cab they don’t treat a woman well in cab when they move to to America they start to to treat the woman different because of the law because of the law you know because of the law the I think the the law in America is is different from uh cab you know yeah I think women have more more uh Power in America than man I agree with you yeah I agree with you and the law helps okay so okay is that the only thing yeah yeah what are the differences between the cape Verdian culture and the Black American culture so I think that Cape Verdian culture is very unstable so we got a lot of influences from other places like Brazil cap uh America so I think that the Black Culture there suffers a lot of um instability but I think that we copy them sometimes okay so it’s so what are the things you copy from Black America um so the young people they the young boys they copy the walk style the style the walk style okay so how do they walk walk now I don’t know why they walk but they do like some kind of moves with the shoulders and and leg legs and something like that I I really don’t know how to how to improve right now [Music] okay um now would you ever live in the United States long term like would you ever move there to live no no I I’ve been there for vacation and I don’t think I will be living there because the system it’s it’s different I’m not used to uh in America I think that one of the most important things the is the money but where I came from here in Caper we do care about money but as you can see in the streets people are more like comfortable with sitting and spending what they have with families and friends and vibing and partying and then the next day the Lord will provide so I think that it’s going to be difficult and there’s going to be a cultural shock because we might be the same call we REM be e same people but we have a different education so I don’t think I would see my myself Living in America because I’m not ready for the system there it’s capitalism lifestyle they have there cuz work to buy work to buy don’t just want to waste work to waste money I don’t like to live like that cuz to waste money you need to work a lot and I don’t don’t like to work a lot okay would you would you ever live in the United States yes why not well why would you uh because I want to to like to know more about Americans and because the culture there are a lot of culture there because people go from worldwide yeah because of the vibe as well do you have do you know anyone who lives in the United States yes my and so what do they tell you about living in the United States like they said that it was hard because of the way of living there it’s a lot of work yeah I believe it’s a good place for opportunity mhm and actually not for living like rest of my life yeah but I see those kind of place only a place to go to work hard and then to come to live in my own country because come on guys this is a wonderful country maybe you didn’t have time enough to take advantage of this because you are kind of working now but uh I believe it’s one of the most uh amazing place to live MH every place has dangers yeah you know what I mean but he will have less he we we can go walk fre it depends on the time and the place of course in like in every place in every country but here in Cabo I feel freely here to work one of the biggest differences between black American and cap verin culture is in racial identity and classification while many Americans cling to the outdated one drop rule where everyone with even the littlest African ancestry is considered completely black most capee verdiant take a different approach in fact many of them call dark skinned people black and lightskinned people white however it is unclear if this is just a language barrier or reflective of a radically different concept of race and identity let’s ask these ladies what they think about these more controversial [Music] issues good white sheo white just oh do I even ask about that hold on there’s this whole set of questions I forgot are Kate Verdian black or white we’re not white definitely we’re not white I think we are black we really are black with a lot of type of Shades and tones but we are black Cavo Verdian are you guys black or white we are black people of course we are black people actually um sometimes we we play with each other and the lighter skinn ones we call White and then we be we be doing the the jokes like oh you black it’s just because you’re black I’m white but I think that most of it it’s just it’s just plain I think we’re conscious we have the Consciousness that we are black it’s a good question because I know that there’s many of us that don’t consider them at least Africans oh it’s it’s something interesting that does not make sense actually okay so let me let me be a little bit more clear so you guys see yourself as black but not African yes uh some of us because uh you know your color don’t lie you are not white yes or black but when it comes to African I believe it’s because we actually when you see the map we’re not exactly so close to the afan African continent maybe it’s one of the reason that some of the some of the I don’t know about their mindset they think that we’re not so Afghan because of uh different behaviors that we have of cultural cold dress that we don’t have if you see we dress like a I dare to say maybe European like normal thing and we have yeah we have those kind of African country that dress different yeah yeah colorful clothes with different colors kind of I even know I don’t even know the name of the uh K maybe K class now are Cape vidiians African yes we are African a lot of people don’t think so but we are African I mean uh we were colonized by Portuguese people but we do we did have a lot of black people here so we came from slaves okay so that’s actually a similarity with black America do you consider black Americans to be African or something else they are African we cannot like throw that apart but sometimes a lot of them lo lo lose their identity I mean been living in a different country for a long time and and reproducing there I think that you might lose a part of your culture a part of your identity but they are African okay are Cape Verdian more of African or more European I think more Africans you know because our songs our culture is more like Africans than Europeans okay so which culture do you think is closer to calans European culture or African culture um I think African I think African yeah me personally before going to University I had this kind of different mindset I know that I was African but you know I’m not like them you see say I’m not like them I’m not so dark like them I don’t behave like this you know I don’t eat with my hands oh yeah yeah only I was children but it’s okay but then I went to University that had some class of literatures uh British Lit Literature American literature and Indian African literature and I had a good teachers I mean professors uh that taught me and that brought those kind of concept we are Africans would help that helped me a lot to to see the different scar of the story behind it because what we learn in high schools it’s a africant sometimes culture but it’s kind of European perspective Cape veran identity sometimes follows a geographic divide in the northern sedudo islands people are more likely to identify with Europe while the southern Badu Islands feel closer to Africa the Western islands of sa and B Vista are a mix of both let’s dig deeper into the topics of race identity and dating [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] where the light where the light [Music] okay is there any type of like discrimination in cabal ver yes yes first of all we discriminate uh cab caban with cians because sometimes uh just because we are lightskinned we think we are not cabaran we think we we are not Africans and we discriminate uh people who had uh black skin okay and uh that’s enough you mean you mean foreigners like sagales yes yes uh people from Sagal they suffer a lot with C virence they suffer a lot we have a lot of discrimination not only with uh people from Sagal but uh people from gyia uh and Ghana and Africans Africans at West African people yes is there any type of like discrimination in cap Verde between the different skin colors I don’t think so we are all the same so what types of things do they experience here uh for example those guys who sell their things in their ANS will uh we we C we discriminate them because of the type of the work they do how how do you discriminate against them me personally I I never do I never do but I saw people doing what did you see what did you see people doing uh saying bad words and uh running away from them okay so what types of words mjaku mjaku for example for example we oh mjac yeah okay that’s like a word for sagales people right yeah interesting there’s tribe like U yeah there man man yes yeah we have different tribes in it is not even from s it’s from G oh have many tribes there and one of the tribes is Manu manaku mingas we ah okay and but and we generalize every people from West C call them even if the only one tribe in the world even this mjaku is the name of a of a of a tribe but but we say we we look mjo as a as a bad thing you know okay when you when you say people run away what do you mean by that uh run away is um like if if you if you are African for example you are from uh Sagal I don’t want to to have any kind of relationship with you that what means run away so kind of like avoid them like yeah like treat them like like hm okay now do kabo Verdian girls date uh the West African guys no sometimes uh in one 100 woman we can find one or two woman dating with them so very rare yeah and why why do you think that is uh because because of what I said because we see them as a mjo we we we don’t want to date those guys because they are because uh most of us most of uh caban women we think we are not African okay yeah we don’t want to date with African right now would you ever date a black American damn [Music] I don’t know I mean the how can I say the terms I’ve got is to date someone who has the same uh perspective as me so I wouldn’t care about where he he’s from would you date a black American yeah I think so I think cuz if he if his family is very yeah yeah but but that’s not a black American that’s a cape Verdian isn’t it okay let me let me let me put it a different way so is it important for you to like date someone who shares your cape bir and culture it is important but cuz if you have our child we’re going to share that to our child but it’s cool too to have a different culture because you know you open always to know to learn about new people new cultures would you ever date a black American yes okay so if you had to date someone from a different culture which culture would it be probably I like to date it’s not different from he but I like to to date the gigis Guin people guine yeah okay okay yeah I think like their lifestyle I I like a lot of the G so okay that’s that brings up a new uh thing so what is um how what is the guinean culture like what I see is similar to here but I’m just saying the the difference I know is like the culture like food and stuff so I’m okay wait I need to organize my no problem what about you would you ever date a man jacku don’t do that I don’t think we have a lot difference with gin G with the G because we share our past is really wait yeah um if I I don’t know about tomorrow yeah yeah um for me for me everything is about feeling you know that name is so funny man Jack I don’t know why uh we don’t know about tomorrow because for me uh dating uh a guy must be um about love about feelings yeah um one day I can fall in love with them um an African yes a Manju for example okay so if you had to pick between a Kate Verdian guy and a black American guy which one would you pick it depends because sometimes the capian guys are very sexist sometimes oh really I think it’s because the culture they made the men look like these stereotypes they made them look strong do not cry you’re the boss like that but it’s not everybody and nowadays things changed so I I really don’t know but are would black Americans be Manju no no of course not tourist yeah black American we call in C we call them tourists oh but mjaku is for those who come to to live here to sell those things to to survive would you ever date a black American uh now I’m sorry I cannot I would say that I not the word never it’s heavy because now I’m dating no oh some oh he needs some milk if you had to pick choose between a black American and a caldian guy which one would you pick both both if I had a doubt both okay so these are the last two guys on Earth they’re the the only men left one black American one caldian and you can only pick one which one would you pick a black American why because I haven’t tried um kabian and I will give a chance to know uh Black American okay now what about a black American or white American black American of course why be because I prefer black men than white white men M yeah why I can date anyone from any country like I don’t I don’t mind now are you single yes I am now if a black American guy wanted to take you to America would you go to America to date him or if he came here to date you would you date him yeah but it depends um as I said before everything is about feeling if I feel something for you it’s okay I will I don’t have any problem I will date uh Black American okay no problem I can date even with Chinese if I love him he might regret that one okay that was good so [Music] so is there any other words for people from West Africa as like any other words they have uh the most common is MJ yeah and even they don’t like to and do do you have real people that are actual Manju here what about if you call the real Manju like they don’t want to be called by the what do they want to be called because because they know the word mjaku is a name amig which his friend Amigo amig amig amigu but they that’s Spanish not French amig French Portuguese amig amig my friend my friend amig no French is Amy French is Amy Spanish is Amigo Portuguese is amig okay so it’s Portuguese so if you call them amigu it’s like it’s because it’s from ah okay that makes sense yeah and if you you call them amig same thing almost everything else because they they know it makes them feel like they’re different kind of it is that I don’t want to call youu because I know you don’t like but yeah yeah um what about Nigerian people here yeah um but I like Nigerian I like Nigerian just because they they speak English and I want to learn English and I I like them okay so what are the also like people from Sagal I like everybody yeah

  1. We have bred with so many African people that we are now family but I believe we have been crossing the oceans 🌊 before the them and been breeding with each other always only till we showed the vikings how to travel 🧭 👀. We are all related ❤ whites too 👀.

  2. A lot of cape verdeans are established in Senegal for generations as immigrants. I grew up with some of them back in the 90’s. Those I grew up with had lighter skin than these people in this interview. And they identify as senegalese now. I hope this interview is not a reflection of the majority of cape verdeans. Otherwise, it might change how I view cape verdeans in Senegal.

  3. Green pants, if you are reading this, say aye. You understand thr struggle of a black American, although I am African by birth.

  4. Women do not have more power the man in America that is not a true statement the women only have the right to talk more and complain more laws protect their right to free speech just like it does the man men just naturally aren't complainers they just get the job done

  5. this what I call it iscrimination by all means. The speakers are lieing at them selfs. Presumably thinks they are white ignoring their butts shape and size never looked like white women bodies.
The girls you are interviewed if they go to Spain or Portugal or any place in the world they will be treated as blacks them faces and standard of living can tell from the first glance. Be humble may God will mercy on you

  6. So many answers with so little time. One thing I noticed these women all say "I think" but what are the proven facts. I will travel there one day from America, I need to catch up

  7. Good to hear Cape Verdeans recognizing that the movies colored their view of Black Americans. Previous to about 50 years ago the primary weapon used against African American, it was the propaganda tool used by white Americans against Black people of ANY kind. Recently, because the media is no longer controlled by a few white people but that power is spread around and so the information will change greatly. As a Caribbean person whose language is English we recognized a long time ago the damage white propaganda was doing to ALL Black people (of African descent).

  8. That was an interesting interview with the people in Cape Verdean, but they are blind and very limited to the outside world. Not all but many, and that is explainable by lack of resources in communication and social media.

  9. Some people are not honest here in the comments because you can see everywhere in the world that some black people have tendency of colorism….why acting like you never saw or hear that before..if its good for sure not but its nothing new….But most black people are proud of their color stop focussing on a few bad apples

  10. The title for the video doesn't make sense.
Why asking a black country what they think of other black people? What, this people think they're white people in Cape Verde or something

  11. Cape Verdeans are considered Creole people due to the unique historical and cultural processes that shaped our identity. The term "Creole" refers to a group of people who emerged from the mixing of different ethnic and cultural groups, primarily during the colonial period. Over time, there was significant intermarriage and cultural blending between the Portuguese settlers and the African slaves. This mixing of European and African ancestry is a key characteristic of Creole identity.

    • Language: Cape Verdean Creole, a Portuguese-based creole language, emerged as the lingua franca of the islands. It combines elements of Portuguese with African languages, reflecting the mixed heritage of the population.

    • Traditions and Practices: Cape Verdean culture incorporates aspects of both Portuguese and African traditions, evident in music, dance, cuisine, and religious practices. For instance, the morna music genre blends African rhythms with Portuguese melodies.

Creole Identity: Cape Verdeans identify ourselves as a distinct Creole people, recognizing our mixed ancestry and unique cultural heritage. This identity is celebrated and maintained through language, traditions, and community practices

    • Colonial Influence: During colonial rule, the Portuguese often classified mixed-race populations as "Creole," distinguishing them from both the European settlers and the African slaves. This classification influenced how we viewed ourselves and our place in society.

    • Post-Independence: Since gaining independence from Portugal in 1975, Cape Verde has embraced its Creole identity as a symbol of national unity and cultural pride.
    • Diaspora: The Cape Verdean diaspora, spread across various countries, continues to embrace and promote our Creole identity, further reinforcing the notion of being a Creole people.

WE ARE PROUD CAPE VERDEANS/CREOLE, WE LOVE THE ISLAND, THE PEOPLE , THE LANGUAGE, THE CULTURE.

  12. Thanks Willie. Almost ALL Cape Verdians come from Africa, precisely West Africa, Senegal, Guina-Bissau, the exact ppl these women describe as to be avoided and not associated with at all costs.

Portugal the former colonial master is seen as supreme, good and to be associated with. Ufnortunately, the latter doesn´t agree.

Remind of of many AA/caribbeans who told me they are not Africans, just black and even those try not to be associated with dark skin, black, black.

Africans in and outside the motherland, we are in trouble, bc the best thing in this world is actually to be who you are,and being black, being African is the best thing ever happened to you, you just don´t appreciate yourself, nor your richness inside, outside, and under your soil, therefore doomed to appreicate others who dislike you, hate you, unlive you so much they care about you!

Watch african content creators guys, its 2024. No more cheap excuses. Every african country/region has thousands of videos from locals showcasing the real, beautiful continent. You own it to yourself, ancestors, children!!!

  13. God have mercy!! I don't mean to be rude but it looks like the ignorance level here is very high. They know very little about anything. The black race is in trouble. Every group is living with the lies that's been fed to them over the centuries. Where do we meet to reconcile our stories! Hmmmm………

  14. So, we have the same hairstyles. We are the Kingdom of Judah spread to the four corners of the earth soon to be regathered.

  15. I laugh when he wa describing an d confusion on " Meu Amigo", Yes Portuguese and Spanish is very similar just the weight and tone in prounnuncation . I'm studying Portuguese but when I get in to a bind I use Spanish words and everybody understand me

  16. I wonder when people are going to stop letting themselves be influenced by ignorance The United States is not America when the United States says the United States of America is saying that it belongs to the continent of America and not that they are the continent of America
