ITALIAN VINTAGE MARKET BARGAINS & HOUSE HUNTING AGAIN?

we’re Nikki and Carlo and we live in patano Italy except we also just bought a house in Tuscany which we’re currently renovating so we live there too join us as we turn this house and Olive Grove into a dream home and get to grips with living in two different parts of Italy is the second Sunday of the month which means it is Market Day in Vico Pisano and I haven’t been for a couple of months so let’s go and see what we can find at the market I’ve got my favorite outfit on of the summer and I’m going to wear my hat and look like a total tourist but I don’t care and if you’re wondering why I have a pile of money in my hand I don’t make Carlo work for free he’s not my slave I pay him you go now drive me to the market okay I we thought we would get here early before everybody else but everybody else got here before us [Music] [Music] going to foreign speech okay first aista done what else can we find look at these little coffee grinders shame I don’t drink coffee machine to put put Lids on bottles or corks [Music] [Laughter] really [Music] nice I think we need to go [Music] wow I’ve just found something very unexpected there a golw walk there wow I don’t know I’ve got some ideas but I need to find the right the right thing there’s a Cabbage Patch Kid doll there I had one of those I don’t think it is a Cabbage Patch Kid it’s different but over there I think I saw a chickaboo and I know that other people have other names for them but I called them chickaboo and it was my favorite toy ever let going to say if it’s still over there what is it aab don’t there’s another name for them chich chich maybe I don’t know let’s go see oh this is a chickaboo this is a chaboo [Music] [Laughter] I am a chickaboo I don’t know that [Music] another day another new project what is he up to now what are we doing [Music] while Caro is outside Tsing up the wall I have mostly been inside today it’s an office day I’ve got work to do I’ve been updating my Patron and I have been editing videos ready for next week which is an always an ongoing thing and I’ve made this little office area here which I’m really pleased with with I originally thought that I was going to make myself an office area in the bedroom upstairs but this happened without me even planning it I wanted to see what it would look like with a little desk here and I brought one in from the spare bedroom downstairs and I put the desk kit just to put things on it because I needed somewhere to put things and then realized it was quite a handy little corner and then I needed to sit down and write something and I just pulled up this chair which was supposed to be an armchair to go with the SAS and it’s really comfortable here and I really like it so I think I’m going to keep a desk area here my original plan was to have two armchairs here but now I think I’m going to keep it like this because this can still be used as an armchair and it’s really comfy the only thing is the desk is quite small and it’s quite low so I would like to find a slightly bigger desk maybe with some drawers as well so I can put things in it that would be handy but I’ve looked around all the secondhand stores and I’ve looked online can’t find anything that I like at the moment so I’m just going to keep looking and just buy my time and wait also the vase that we picked up in the marketplace has found its new home here uh nothing’s ever quite what we planned we thought we were going to put this outside by the door around the side of the house and Carlo ended up putting it in here just to see what it looked like and then I took the fake Cheese plant which has been on the stairs up here and put it in and fits perfectly and it feels right that it’s there for now but we might Shuffle things around in the future you never know so that’s what’s happening today I think Carlo is going to be finishing the wall soon let’s go and have a look and see how he’s getting on wow that is a wall may see [Music] oh and this is what the outdoor sofa set is looking like currently we’re waiting for the cushions to be re-upholstered but definitely looking much better isn’t it this gu in the ugly [Laughter] box still in painting mode and one of the things I cannot get right is the green that I want to contrast this pink I have painted these side doors through three different colors so far and I’m not happy with any of them and Carla’s just taken one of the colors and painted this um this little wooden seat area here and it looks like an ice cream parlor and I finally snapped and I’ve gone and got all my little paint dyes and I’ve mixed them into the remains of one of the green paints that I don’t like and I think I’ve finally got the color that I’ve been trying to get all along so this color here was too blue and it wasn’t working and I finally mixed up this green here which I think is exactly what I was looking for so I’m going to finish off the door and see what it looks like and if I’m happy with it I’m going to go and paint the other door on the other side of the house and that little um seat area there that Carlos painted earlier on and get them all done finally I’m sure that you are all sick to death of watching me paint and I’m pretty much sick to death of painting as well so hopefully we can get this done this time and be finished [Music] I just went out to buy myself a pair of flip flops cuz I don’t have any here and I stopped off at a secondhand shop on the way and I found something I didn’t film when I was in there cuz I was all in a bit of a rush to to get it because there’s always so many people in there um and I was scared I was going to miss it so didn’t film anything but I got it and it is a piece of furniture which I think is really great oh my God and I think I know where it’s going to go okay yeah need a bit of a clean o it’s probably Southeast Asian and it cost me 90 and I also got really anything special but needed a basket to put the wet washing in from the washing machine ah Perfect Isn’t it that was 8 bargain [Music] [Music] [Music] that’s really [Music] [Music] I I’ve just cleaned this cupboard and I’m making some drawer liners because I don’t know what it’s been used for and it was quite old and Dusty so I’ve [Music] made that from some wrapping paper that Seline gave my me with my birthday present [Music] I think we can keep the pasta and rice in there see see now I want two bookshelves there so for now this is how it looks we have a few books we’ve got a picture and a frame for now but we’ll probably be moved at some point if we put up book frames once the books are up on the shelves we’re going to put up uh we’ll probably put the fruit bowl there and also we have Carlo’s drawer of crap and my drawer of crap so we’ve each got our own drawer the rubbish kitchen drawer that everybody has to have obligatory and a great place to keep all the pasta I’ve bought two picture frames because I have two very special things that I want to frame and put somewhere on the walls I have one of them I’ve already framed two prime time Emmy Award nominations not mine they were my mother’s this one is for the outstanding technical Direction camera video for a miniseries welcome home Heroes with Whitney Houston that was from 1990 1991 prime time Emmy Awards this one is 1999 to 2000 prime time Emmy Awards Ros story nominated for outstanding technical Direction camera work video for miniseries movie or special share livein concert from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and those are very special to me and they’re going to go on the wall together somewhere in the house for those of you who don’t know what my mom did she was a vision mixer and now a vision mixer is the person who who um when you watch a TV show for example and you’ve got two people talking and you cut between them and them she’s the one doing the mixing so basically like a DJ but for visual moving images rather than sound and she was very very very good at her job and she did all sorts of concerts and shows all around the world and got two pridetime Amy nominations did we show you Carlo’s finished wall I don’t think we did well here we go this is the wall it looks great and so does that uh thing to hold hide the ugly box looks a little bit like a pink post box but that’s absolutely fine we’re on our way to meet alesio our estate agent from last year who helped us find the house uh we were talking the other day we said we actually miss going around viewing houses it was really good fun and then Alesia called us and suggested that we come and film some houses that he’s got for sale and see if you guys like them and he’s got a good one so we’re going to go and meet up with him now go and view a house for you guys not for us yeah yeah all the problems that we had buying this house was nothing to do with alesio it was it was the others and alesio had the patience of a saint so wonderful anyway yeah I’m going to go shut that umbrella because there is a storm [Music] brewing okay you [Music] your thumb is obviously much stronger than my thum [Music] [Music] oh [Music] gosh we’re just popping into one of the secondhand stores where last week there was two shelves which if we remember rightly are exactly the size we need for um above that new little piece of furniture so we’re going to quickly stop by there and see if they’re still available cuz they were like1 15 each or something they were really heavy but they were a good chunky wooden shelves so hopefully we can pick them up yeah let’s go have a look see if they’re still here there’s one yes here they are 15 15th of March there might be discount and right on Q as we’re about to arrive it is starting to rain [Music] this 620 M Square three-story Villa dates back to the 1700s it has 21 rooms a garden and Olive Grove and is in a panoramic position in a small village so everybody’s gone outside and left me to do the tour so you come into the house and you come into this lovely little entrance hall here but the most spectacular thing in this entrance hall is the next door this incredible original leather p added door look at it stunning and then what’s through it look at that room in there let’s go have a [Music] look wow look at this [Music] room this room is completely frescoed as a wooden Arbor and the floor is incredible as well look at these tiles beautiful on into the music room which is a beautiful Ved room with a table big enough for a party [Music] let me see if I can find my way to the kitchen this very big house it’s about 600 square m which is Big so through the beautiful little aror here we go this must be it so the owner of the house is a very passionate cook so she’s actually had her kitchen kitted out to be like a professional restaurant kitchen but it has the original old fire bread oven there and this incredible old marble sink I mean I could literally have a bath in that it’s huge the Grand salon wow [Music] Grand salon where the bliard table is this room comes as it is so they’re not taking anything from here obviously the furniture in this room is made for the room and one of the most amazing things I think about this room is that it’s painted onto the walls it’s not wallpaper I thought it was going to be fabric wallpaper it’s actually painted onto the stone wall through from the Grand salon is the original dining room and then there’s this other little room here and then through this door there’s the original kitchen which is tiny but they’ve kept it and back in the day this is where all of the big family meals would been prepared in this tiny tiny little kitchen luckily there’s a Bigg one downstairs nowadays I’m back through the Grand salon over the other side we have an area with a living room this is not a door this is a [Music] door and then there’s three bedrooms [Music] one it’s a lovely old art deco bathroom and another bedroom with pictures on the ceiling [Music] another interesting detail is the glass in the windows as you can see is wobbly it’s the original glass from 300 years ago and at the very top of the house there’s this little Studio which used to be a pigeon rest and it has these windows that open up wide across the beautiful countryside outside the back there’s a Terrace area leading down to a kitchen garden and onto the Olive Grove and also an old tunnel [Music] now I don’t know how far down I’m going to go but apparently this tunnel goes all the way to underneath the house very useful in an aid fore fore [Laughter] [Music] agent [Music] for [Music] [Music] for for [Music] [Music] we’re back in the car um let us know what you think about the villa and if you’re interested in seeing more properties that are for sale in Tuscany because we could do that if you’re interested we love exploring them um now we both want pizza which is something that we haven’t quite solved yet because the pizzas here aren’t quite as good as the pizzas in our area for uh I’m not so fussy I’ll eat I’ve mean I’ve I’ve lived in England for half of my life so I know what pizzas are like there um so I’ll eat pizzas here as well but uh rest of my family are Pizza snobs yeah let’s go see if we can find pizza driving away from the house we have found the nearest pizzeria with the best ratings was it tastes like a proper napolitan pizza or a Tuscan pizza we’ve got half and half each so we’ve got two different flavors to try one with Gorgonzola roast pork and sundried tomatoes and the other one with double mozzarella and tomatoes and now we just need to find a pizzeria a good Pizzeria closer to home [Applause] I need to paint them no no no I don’t want it wooden colored there’s too much wood already okay and heavy [Music] [Music] yeah [Music] yeah that oh Noe [Music] [Music] no no no no no no no [Music] [Music] no way yes because in the end they were discounted 20% off the original price of 15 down to 12 each what a [Music] bargain books to come that can go [Music] [Laughter] [Music] ah for Fore for

  1. Yes to more home tours & searching for treasures in the open markets!!! Can we clone Carlos for all my single friends? PLEASE!!!

  2. Fabulous video ❤
So many elements I’d like to mention on here 😊

Your awards in your moms name is really lovely 🥰 such a lovely idea having them on the wall ❤

Loved the house you showed although a little big for us at our age .

We are in our early 50’s I’ve worked in hospitality and my husband is a qualified chef and patisserie chef 🍕it’s our dream one day to own a little B&B but we would want to buy somewhere that needs very little work ( we aren’t brilliant at DIY )

Re:- the pizzas 🍕 I’m really suprised there aren’t many places which doesn’t do great pizzas 🍕 it’s bank holiday Monday here in the uk and you’ve got my husband all fired up lol 😂 he’s going to clean down his wood fired pizza oven and start making his pizzas again😂

Cuddles to Holly and Indie 🐶🐶❤❤

Our Lhasa Apso is too old to put through a car journey to Italy she has cushings disease so we can’t leave her .. we don’t mind she’s our world … so for now until one day we are enjoying your videos … thank you for bringing beautiful Tuscany to our home ❤ so far it’s definitely our favourite place in Italy 🇮🇹

I’d love to see more properties only thing is when we are ready to buy there may be none left 😂

  3. Thanks for all the inspiration to do small projects at home that you give me by doing small projects at your place! I thought it couldn’t get any better than what you have in Positano but yes it does in Tuscany it gets so cosy and homey so now I’m torn apart which place I’d love more of the two 😅

  4. Wow! You guys are really making the place your own and it is beautiful! I must say this video is a bright spot in my weekend. We had a tornado hit our town and my husband and I are cleaning up the damage to our home and property though we have a generator to run the important things like refrigerator water nternet and water pump no one can get to us because there is a power line down across our driveway and the main road is almost a mile away. Thank you for sharing. Now back to work.

  5. What a lovely video. You two have made your home look beautiful and very classy.
I love that you can find such unique furnishings such as the rustic cabinet near the kitchen and the gorgeous cask you placed by the stairway. Your house has become a beautiful, cozy, and welcoming home. Your kitchen is perfectly lovely, and the corner is the perfect place for your desk. Great job on the wall, Carlo. Nicki, the color you painted the outdoor furniture is more harmonious with the house, as are the doors.
Thank you for the tour of the beautiful villa. I hope someone who treasures the beautiful artistry and layout of the decor buys it.
Carlo, as always, thank you for the lovely drone footage, which reminds us, in case we experienced even the slightest bit of amnesia, what a beautiful country you live in.
    Grazie!❤️

  6. Darling Nicki and Carlo, I'm a huge fan and love you guys!!! Just my observation… The shelves seem wrong height to me and top one didnt look straight. I would have lowered them both and put them flush in line with straight part of wall instead of top one being at the curve and I think too high. I'm a Libra ⚖️ so balance is my thing. Always straightening stuff 😄 Do people in Italy eat Pizza with knife and fork? I pick it up in my hands and eat it like Miss Piggy 😁😋 Carlo you do look a little bit like a Chikaboo 👼😄 cute, cheeky & handsome! Nic, love the heavy wooden kitchen piece you found. Goes perfectly with the kitchen style. I agree with you to paint the shelves, but they need, I think, to be repositioned further down and both flush with wall before the curve of the archway. That's my 50c worth of advice. I really enjoyed this video. Much Love Michelle 🥰😘💛 ps. Been listening to Mario Biondi's music lately 🎶 he's fantastic!! A bit like an Italian Barry White. He visited Australia recently performing with Diana Rouvas. Do you guys play music 🎶 in your house? I love music and need it around me. Ciao ciao bellas 🍅🌶🧄🍕🫑🍋

  7. The house is looking so beautiful! The market was awesome the bargains were great loved the huge copper vessels and the amphora it looks very nice with the plant in it. The coffee grinders were pretty. The chickaboo was so cute and carlo is right it does look like carlo especially when he poses with it!The carved cabinet is a perfect fit and the shelves look good .The sofa outside looks good after the painting the table looks different from the set more delicate. After you buy a cane sofa you can move the sofa in the room behind which you have cleaned previously .Wow Emmy nominations your mom was great 👍 The green looks great on the door is it olive green ? The beautiful villa with the painted frescos and lovely grand rooms wad awesome thanks what views ❤you played the organ /piano really well.Would love to see the such villas and the antique market the latter more in detail!!

  8. Yes please more home tours of Tuscan homes for sale plus sale price please. Thank you both for your delightful posts each week and you’re a good example of a well balanced partnership, bravo.

  9. All looking very pretty and harmonious. I love your outside patio: it just says "welcome"!
Just one thing, Carlo, you're not Neapolitan…. Carlo, sei salernitano!!! Anche in provincial di Salerno le pizze sono ottime! 😊 ❤

  10. I love all the house improvement that you and Carlos do! Great finds at the second hand stores and markets. Yes please on other Tuscany houses for sale…. the house is looking lovely.

  11. I love the house tours. I love the painting, I love the shopping. I love the shelf hanging. Wall building and pizza eating. 😁 Thank you for another lovely video. Love from Toronto 🇨🇦😊💜

  12. Can you imagine cleaning that chandelier (only fools and horses springs to mind 😂). I think someone should buy it and rent it out as a holiday stay and in the winter a chef should teach Italian cooking 😁

  13. Your home is coming together so beautifully. We can see both your touches whilst you’re making your home. Bringing both your skills together Truly beautiful, can’t wait till next weeks episode ❤🏡xxxx

  14. Hi To you both, love seeing it all come together, you have some great ideas, Thank you Nicki for introducing me to Chalk paint, I want to try it on one or two pieces of furniture, the sofa & chairs you did look really nice. So enjoy the markets, the large Urn looks good. 👍☀️XX we just got back from a few days in Devon, and enjoyed some much needed sunshine. ☀️☀️

  15. Love seeing the Italian markets around the area, I am a retired antique dealer, and its one of my favorite things to do. Your home is looking so beautiful, love the amphora, and I love your jeans you are wearing ! very 60's-70's
