In this 4K Duisburg City tour in Western Germany, I am walking you through the inland port of Duisburg City during the worldwide pandemic in 2020 and cover a few sightseeing spots within the inland harbour. Duisburg is located in Western Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia) and one of the largest cities in Ruhr and 15th largest city in Germany.
The inland harbour of Duisburg with all its facilities is considered the largest inland port in the world. Here in Duisburg, the middle of the Ruhr Area, stately ships lie at anchor and wait for the next tour across the world’s seas, via the seaports of Amsterdam, Emden, Rotterdam, Antwerp or Hamburg. The Ruhr Area offers a good combination of waterways, roads and railways so that various goods can be optimally shipped and transported. The 21 public harbour basins have a water surface of more than 180 ha, the shore length is 40 km, 15 km of which are transhipment shores with railway siding. I am starting at the Schwanentor close to the NRW State Archive Duisburg and then walking along the Duisburg Museum of Culture and City History. After that I am walking towards the Garden of Remembrance and the Jewish Synagogue. I will finish this walk at the Museum and Restaurant Küppersmühle.
