Why You should NOT come to Japan from June to August?? | Japan Travel Tips
kichwa I’m Ono welcome to my channel in today’s video I will discuss why you should not come to Japan from June to August I will explain in detail what problems can occur if you visit Japan during this period and how to solve them so please watch Until the End let’s move on to the main part of the video I will now explain in 5 Second ctions why you should not come to Japan between June and August first there are five main reasons why you should not come to Japan between June and August let me explain them one by one in detail section one hot and humid weather Japan summers are notorious for being hot and humid from June to August the humidity is high and temperatures frequently exceed 85° car in major cities like Tokyo and Osaka the asphalt and buildings trap heat leading to the Heat island effect this can make it difficult to sleep even at night as the temperatures remain elevated in my area it often stays above 85° in the summer leading to sleep deprivation throughout the season to cope with a heat and humidity it’s recommended to dress lightly and use umbrellas or hats frequent hydration is essential taking breaks in air conditioned spaces is also beneficial try to stay in the shade when walking around to reduce exposure to the heat it is recommended that outdoor activities be conducted in the morning or evening when the weather is relatively cool bringing along salt tablets can also help prevent heat related illnesses another important consideration is sun exposure the Summer sun can be intense and prolonged exposure can lead to skin damage pain and even an increased risk of skin cancer applying sunscreen regularly wearing long sleeve shirts sunglasses and hats can help protect your skin these measures are crucial for enjoying summer in Japan [Music] safely section two tyoon season summer in Japan coincides with typhoon season especially in July and August typhoons approach many parts of Japan bringing strong winds and heavy rain this can disrupt transportation and impact your travel plans significantly keeping a close watch on weather forecasts and monitoring the trajectory and intensity of approaching typhoons is essential if a typhoon is approaching consider revising your plans avoid unnecessary travel and stay in safe locations make sure to review emergency exits and protocols in your accommodation in the event of an approaching typhoon emergency supplies such as food water and flashlights can be prepared to deal with sudden power or water outages in addition it is important to check the business conditions of tourist attractions you plan to visit in advance as the they may be temporarily closed due to the typhoon if a typhoon should hit during your trip to Japan there is a possibility of flooding or landslides even after the typhoon has passed therefore it is a good idea to act only after safety is ensured incidentally okanawa is a famous tourist destination and one of the best resorts in Japan but it is prone to typhoons in July and August not only rain but also wind is strong and every year there are news reports of flight cancellations so visitors to Okinawa during this period need to be prepared section three crowded tourist spots the third is crowding at tourist attractions from June to August sightseeing spots and theme parks become extremely crowded because the months coincide with summer vacation and obon vacations for elementary and junior high schools in Japan especially at famous tourist spots and theme parks long lines and crowded areas often make it difficult to get around this may make it difficult to enjoy sightseeing as planned to avoid crowds it is effective to visit tourist attractions in the early morning or evening hours you can also reduce the time you spend in line by booking tickets in advance furthermore it is a good idea to research the crowding situation at each tourist attraction and schedule your visit to avoid peak hours it is also recommended to make make reservations at restaurants and cafes near tourist attractions as they tend to be crowded on crowded days you can enjoy a smoother sighting experience by choosing sites and activities that are relatively empty when visiting crowded areas it’s important to be mindful of your belongings although Japan has a low crime rate crowded areas can still be targets for Pick Pockets or theft comfortable Footwear is also recommended for potential long hours of standing and walking section four mosquito and insect issues in addition to mosquitoes beware of other insects such as bees horseflies and ticks in the unlikely event that the bite is swollen or the pain persists you can purchase medicine at a nearby store to treat the problem medicines are available at drug stores and supermarkets and recently also at convenience stores especially in areas with thick grass there are not only mosquitoes but also many other insects that cause pain when they bite so it is important to prepare in advance as explained earlier section five noise in the city summer in Japan is a time of festivals fireworks display and other events and noise at night can be a problem especially in places to stay near downtown areas or event venues it may be difficult to get a good night’s rest because of the continuous Sound of Music and fireworks until late at night when choosing a place to stay it is important to research the date and location of the event in advance and choose a quiet area you may want to take advantage of review sites to see what other guests have to say about the place you are staying checking into your accommodations early and relaxing in a quiet environment are key to avoiding noise and enjoying the evening noise may be a particular problem for those with children or babies if you stay near an event area your child or baby may have trouble sleeping due to the noise it is a good idea to choose a place is to stay in a quiet area and try to avoid noise at night incidentally in the Tokyo area we recommend staying near Tokyo Station Ginza or rongi these areas are known as grown-up areas where you can spend a relatively quiet day the areas around Shibuya and Shinjuku are convenient for transportation but be aware that some areas are noisy until midnight lastly I regularly share information about Japan on this channel if you found this video helpful Living in central Texas and Albuquerque New Mexico for many years 85 degrees is a cool summer day compared to the common 100+ degree summer day.
I'm sorry, I have to because it's the only time I can ascend Fuji-San. It's fine though, I'm from Florida and have done a lot of walking here so I'll be alright with the humidity and staying hydrated.
(laughs in the Philippines) yeah I landed in Haneda Airport, then took off to the Philippines, around that time, humid weather!
Hiow about Sept ?
I was thinking about visiting in July because I'm used to hot and humid weather. But I forgot about Typhoon season! Not sure if I'll go July anymore… maybe November haha. Thanks for the reminder! Great video 😀
lol boy in Texas in reaches 110 degrees. 85 is a dream.
Same goes for Korea
What about Hokkaido end of Aug to early September?
Early June should be okay
Texans would love to have 85 degree summer days. We are lucky to have 85 degree summer nights. Our mosquitos and humidity are legendary. Japan has typhoons while we have hurricanes.
Thanks for the info. I will be there in June.
I like the hot & humid Japan summer. But I HATE the japanese winter. Its really bad inside the japanese cold houses. I prefer to be outside, try to not stay at home. Summer is okay though, not so bad as japanese people say.
I only go from May to July 😂
But I’m from Arizona. It’s like a cool weather getaway with amazing rain 😅
Good commentary! I lived in Japan for several years and the summers are miserable. I call at 100 days of hell from June 1 until early September. You know it’s going to be a miserable day add to that all the tourists and then the Japanese families Start heading out in mid July until late August. It’s overwhelming. I think the best time to visit Japan is late. March/early April so you can see the cherry blossoms. I think it’s funny how these people from Arizona and New Mexico think that 85° is going to be cool. Add 90% humidity to that and probably 90°, it’s a high pain index.
I've only ever been from October into November.
Thats nothing in my country 😂
Anyone can tell me where is the best place to exchange for money
Adelaide regularly reaches 110f in summer so I’ll be there next Tuesday
Hello… Yes we notice that June is the rainy season unfortunately in my country the school holiday is 1 month starts on Mid of June, my kids are willing to have holiday in Japan. Dillema isnt it ? 😂
Please advice your recommendation places to visit during rainy season ( this June )
We will be there on this June 13-24 . Arrival Osaka by June 13 and Departure Tokyo by June 24
We plan to visit USJ, Nara, Kyoto, Nagoya , Hakone and TDS and tokyo city .
the heat is a factor only if you are not used to it….people from SE Asia, Australia, southern states of the US for example would not find it an issue. I have been to Japan several times in those months and found it to be great but I am from Perth in Western Australia where it can get much hotter (though not with the humidity usually). There is a certain charm in walking the streets of Tokyo, or anywhere else in Japan, on a warm summer evening with the sound of crickets chirping and frogs croaking 🙂
Top tip Britisher pals: There's no rainy season in Hokkaido (you know where that is, right, right?)
I worked through 20 summers in Tokyo (1973-93) so don't be a bunch of wimps: "Take up the white man's burden …"
And do get into Centigrade, Ono san.
Jack the Japan Alps Brit
I was stationed on Okinawa for 2 years. Never had the problem with heat or typhoon.
We are going in June 11-19 only time we can we is June till August. We are trying to go as soon as school break starts so hope it won’t so bad 😅 but most our plans is shopping 😆
We unfortunately go to Japan during most of July due to school. Just one time I would like to go in September or even October. The ocean is actually swimmable well into October. July humidity and 40c (104f) in Tokyo is not fun. You end up zombie walking from conbini to conbini for air con.
Is end august to middle September good time to visit?
I spent a month there this winter and while I was suffering a bit I know I'd prefer it to walking around and being super sweaty. Although most trees were dead I need to come next time like late may.
Thanks for keeping everything in Farenheit (: The US gets really hot as well. In Phoenix, Arizona it was 110 degrees for 50 days 💀
I'm actually about to leave for Japan in 1 week. Is it really going to be that hot at the start of June or will it be bearable somehow?
Lol, I probably would have died of heat cycling hundreds of kilometers last August if there where no vending machines and konbinis at almost every convenient location 👍
for june to august it will be weather like in Malaysia , usually i will plan a visit Japan around autumn / spring to get a chiller weather to enjoy 🙂
Early June weather still cool, temperature range from 15 deg to 25deg in cities and mountainous region still having cold morning and night, lowest around 6 deg, e.g Kamikochi.
Get a sweater!
I am from Canada and I can't handle the temperatures in Japan during the summer season. May and November are my favorite months to visit. You are spot on about where to stay in Tokyo. On my first trip, I stayed at APA Kabukicho and if I didn't bring earplugs with me, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
My wife is Japanese, and she refuses to visit Japan during the hot months. (June – September) I don't mind so much, but she gets MEAN when it's humid, so we don't go then. October and March are probably the most beautiful months for most of Japan … best times to visit.
We bought tix for July. Hopefully there aren't any typhoons on this visit. We miss Oki so much but couldn't take them during the school year. My favorite month in Japan is Oct when the leaves are changing color and sweet potato is in season. Thanks for the video.
First time we went, it was late August. Now, we had traveled quite a few times to Singapore, Bangkok and Siem Reap for Angkor Wat. And I visited a relative in the army stationed at Fort Polk, LA in mid-summer, so we knew humidity. Osaka during the time we went in late August was the worst I’ve ever felt in terms of humidity. It just saps the strength right out of you.
Great tips
I love the heat and I only travel to Japan durning June and July 😆
Dear Mr. Ono. I appreciate your video. However, I must politely disagree with some of your assertions. Having lived in Japan for eight years, I spent many a summer in the Kansai region. Yes it was hot, yes I experienced a few typhoons (nothing too serious, thank god), tourist spots are always crowded (especially during New Year's — Winter — and GW (Golden Week) in May — Spring. One of the things that helped with mosquitoes were the "kikka senko", or, pyrethrum mosquito coils that, when burning, produce an incense that did a fairly good job repelling the bugs. If you visit cities, they will be noisy most of the year. Indeed, the two best seasons to visit Japan IMHO are the Spring and Fall. But summer isn't too bad if you prepare, and your video explains this. Last year, I had the opportunity to visit during the summer, and had one of the most amazing trips/experiences. Not perfect by any stretch, but my six weeks were one of the most memorable ever (Recommendations: Go to Tohoku region, north of Tokyo. Aomori, Akita, Sendai….just beautiful).
does it still rain alot in mid july in tokyo and osaka?
He sounds like Chinese national living in Japan.
Ying, yong, ong sounds.
And he doesn’t have typical Japanese accent.
May be Chinese national pretending to be Japanese??
Lots Chinese live in Japan.
Planning to go end of June. Hoping weather will be fine. Matane!
Google says 85°F is 29-30°C, which is not a problem for me as I comfortably sleep at 28°C almost the whole year. And I don't consider it hot until it is higher than 35°C.
So, heat in Japan is not a problem for me. If it is the same as in Thailand (with humidity), I can bear it.
However, I didn't know about the typhoon season. Thank you for sharing that.
85 Fahrenheit, that’s nothing. Try living in Australia during the summer it can go over 113 Fahrenheit 😅
stop going to japan 😂
Thank you for your good information.
