MSC Expands their Presence in Port Canaveral!– Cruising is Life Podcast

is Life podcast all right hello hello everyone welcome back to the cruising His Life podcast welcome back for our another weekly episode we got a very exciting topic and and probably get a stray off topic a little bit here in this episode but more focused on MSC because of some recent news that we just got um within probably the last hour but that is very exciting and crazy to think about um but we’ll dive into that later on but as always we’re joined by Justin our co-host how’s it going buddy it is very good hello all right all right so yeah we’ve got a really exciting topic we’re mostly going to focus on MSC and um the general topic of today’s episode epis is kind of their presence in Port Canaveral um but I think it’s more going to we’re going to kind of elaborate maybe a little bit further on down there uh when it comes to just like their us expansions and things like that um and of course this new class of ship that apparently is now in in the works uh which is unbelievable to think about and I was kind of honestly knowing MSC and how they’ve been over the last few years it’s surprising that it took them this long to order a new class of ship just the way they’ve been building for real it’s it’s been like one or two every year for like the last five or six years it’s been crazy right exactly it always felt like they’ve been ordering more and more and more over the last couple years too it’s not like they’re not only they’re putting one out every single year but it seems like they’re ordering one to two more every year after that yeah their their expansion has been in insane especially with them being a um like a private company right it’s a private at least it used to be I think it’s privately owned so you know they kind of can just do whatever yeah to my knowledge they’re not a publicly traded company um at least not yet um but I know they are an italian-based shipping company or an Italy based shipping company so I mean it’s not like it’d be a I mean you probably could trade on the US Stock Exchange but you know you know what I mean not yeah yes I do you get the point yeah also all over the place again oh my God but um yeah really ever since they brought um oh who was it Seaside to Miami you know they it was specifically built for Miami and the the way they were marketing and stuff I mean they had Billboards all over Miami for that ship so pretty much ever since they brought that ship and they had deina in Miami for a while but it was really Seaside that kind of jump started this whole American deployment with you know MSC it took a little bit to get there but yeah you can see kind of their their plan for it because now we got seven Ships coming up you know next year or the end of this year that are going to be sailing out of the US so yeah than you for real I mean I know that was kind of their intention in the first place is you know Seaside was going to be an American ship I was always supposed to be like that and that whole class really and the I guess the funny thing about it you know in leading up to it it was almost like um like how Conant does it with their naming it with they always end with an a they’re they’re an Italian cruise line they’re going to do that you know the grandiosa I mean that’s I guess after the seaside you know what I mean deina magnifica poia or however you pronounce that things like that but I guess the gist of it is you know they’ve got you know all these previous ships you know we’re good ships but they never really made much of an impact here in the US but once they really debuted the the seaside class that’s when they really started taking off that’s when they got into the mega ship game I feel like too um of course more importantly that really launched them into I guess just like into the US market as well right yeah like I said that especially the side it was what was that my myat no my cat knocked over my iPad oh that’s nice she’s she’s climbing all over the desk right now and now she’s pissed off off that I’m trying that I’m she she’s mad that I’m I’m trying to keep her out of the camera but um it’s what what she likes to do she likes pressing buttons she does that in meetings at work she does that when I’m you know filling out reports and things like that invoicing and she loves typing apparently start I’m gonna have to start charging a rent for real but um but anyways yeah the seaside you know even just the design of the ship was marketed in Miami they were like oh you know they were kind of marketing as it’s you know it kind of fits in with the Miami Skyline like that kind of unique Vibe especially the back of it kind of Narrows in so yeah was their first major push um into the American market and it’s done very well right exactly and yeah like you said I mean the it’s got such a unique design and I mean at the time that was the first of its kind but now you know we get more you know more that look like that with the um version Voyage of ships and even the Prima class they all kind of part of that project Allan also thank you so much for the Super Chat for the thank for the $2 says hello Justin and Brandon Symphony in August cool uh it is weird probably one of the last it must be August 27th is when he said huh I don’t know that’s that’s weird usually it’s Sunday it must be like the last or like the first time that goes back to Tuesdays right but yeah that’s cool though I hope you enjoy your cruise I love the symphony yeah for yeah she looks great yeah for sure and yeah she looked really good when we saw her the other day too it’s funny cuz last year you know getting off topic a little bit but um last year like when Oasis would come in Oasis looked pretty bad like her paint looked really rough Symphony looks great the other day she look she looks like she’s in good shape so yeah for real they they’ve always done it good job upkeeping that ship for some reason with Oasis they didn’t want to do that so I don’t yeah I don’t know but yeah yes just enjoy your cruise Justin has not been on Symphony but I have um no I’ve been on harmony though so it’s kind of close yes close enough close enough take um but yeah anyways kind of refocusing here though like I I do like how the um the seaside class kind of does fit the Miami Skyline and it kind of issued in a new era of like like ship design too you know a lot of new ships are taking you know taking ideas and not ideas but you know design factors in from the seaside class it’s all part of the same project it’s mostly fin cantieri but it’s from right yeah it’s from um you know MSC is kind of the first one to show off that type of style um but you know now even the sun princess and that new class of ships for them is pretty awesome yeah got a similar you know design right exactly I think you’re internet might be cutting out cuz you’re very very blurry all really yeah it’s like stuttering there we go I think you’re good now all right but um but yeah like it’s it’s such a cool it’s such a cool design too like it’s very very very unique yeah absolutely you know we went from The Oasis class having that split structure where there’s a a chunk I guess on either side and it’s opened in the back to where MSC I mean they still have that design with the newer ships but the seaside class was kind of the opposite of that where it was it got skinny in the back um and you had I guess the openings on the outside and they used that space like the ho of the ship is let’s say this wide but then the back is about this wide they used that space here for like outdoor decks and stuff in pools so it’s it’s really nice it’s like a a much more expanded version of like the Leni or um on car or whatever it’s called on Carnival like pretty much that open deck space um so MC and like we said you know Prima and and uh some princess kind of Follow That same you know more space on that lower deck but um you know when they when MSC did it it was kind of like a first um with that much space right exactly it’s it wasn’t like a New Concept at all at the time but what they did is they just made it that much bigger right it was you know 200 what 2008 2009 on the Carnival Dream you know that was kind of the first ship to really debut a big outdoor deck like that down below and that’s honestly like one of my favorite things on any ship um that like my that’s one of my favorite thing like design-wise on any ship is if they have that lower outdoor area uh like the dream Vista you know XL class even the breakway breakway Plus prma Class all those too so like that was one of my favorite things that they you know the industry is kind of adopted and is that design but the seaside classes really just expanded that and they made it to where that was like a focal point like a big part of their design is that they made it bigger and they have so much more to offer back there now too right yeah they’ve got a lot more space to to do stuff um I haven’t really looked at it and we obviously haven’t been on it but I’m pretty sure right now it’s just like pools and stuff right and and a bunch of loues they might have some restaurants that sck out onto it something like I know Carnival and Norwegian do but um I’m not sure about MSC right right yeah I think as as that design kind of evolved and again it makes it even even better than you know what we saw in the dream back when that was like the first one um but the implementation of like restaurants and loung like not lounges Maybe but like pools lounges hot tubs all sorts of things like that such a really unique thing and really cool thing um the industry’s been able to accomplish by doing something like that yeah absolutely um but I guess to tie that in though we have the the msse seashore you know of course is like I think one of the seaside Evo which are just a little bit bigger of that Seaside class but we have this the MSC Seashore um we even had the seaside for a little while you know and kind of you know tying Canaveral back into the topic here but you know it it’s just like how I Envision or I guess when I compare it to I I would compare it to like three and fornite itineraries that we get from Royal whereas like we started with you know like with royal we started from you know the Majesty a couple years ago and we worked our way up to a freedom class Oasis class now we’re getting Utopia you know like right now we’re getting you know a couple years ago it was the deina you know a couple years AG really didn’t have any yeah we didn’t have anything really until we got the deina and deina at the time was nothing I mean not to say it’s nothing you know compared to other ships but you know compared to what we have now and what yeah that’s one of their smaller ships now yeah which is crazy to think because that ship is actually a decent size what is it like 140 it’s like the Breakaway the Breakaway size is longer it’s actually longer than the Escape really yeah which I couldn’t I I could not believe it but it is that’s it’s not taller and it’s not heavier but it’s longer it’s funny because the miravia class is very tall but very short it’s yeah but the tonnage is you know way up there but um right you know we’ve worked our way from the deina after you know never having a ship there we worked our way you know it was a big deal when we find they got a new Cruise Line in in Port canaville and now I think it sounds like we’re going to get more you know we just got two more added to our lineup and apparently there’s talks of another cruise line that we don’t know of yet that could be added whether that’s virgin you know or holl America whoever that ends up being right there’s not too many options left so no we we take everybody now it’s an open door here but you know now we worked our way from that to the marilia which was a huge deal I mean the mar is a very nice and very big ship and then we got the seaside which I guess downsized ever so slightly but we got that really cool you know Seaside class and now we’ve worked our way up to you know the the seaside Evo class here with the seashore you know and that’s probably one of the best ships in their Fleet right now is probably the sea the seaside evos that are the seashore and the Seascape um of course if you don’t factor in you know the world class right now there’s only Europa but I are probably some of their best ships right now is these evos yeah absolutely it’s and when we say Evo it’s basically a slightly updated version of like the seaside like I think the back has that that’s their way of saying that’s their way of saying like plus like you know the Breakaway the Breakaway plus like MC called it the seaside and the seaside Evo that’s essentially the exact same thing every Cruise Line has their own way of doing something like that whether it’s Plus Ultra like Quantum Ultra that type of thing Seaside Evo it’s all the same yes exactly but it’s I mean it’s pretty cool though I mean Seashore seems to be doing really really well and a lot of people really like her over here in in Port canaville and I think in in my opinion I think it’s a great ship she’s probably the the best competition right now for Utopia I feel like you know probably yeah kind of their own thing you know compete um yeah and there really isn’t other weekend cruises I mean Carnival but it’s what the glory I mean come on right I mean I know nothing against the glory it’s at the glory is a fantastic ship and I know we we both have two cruises booked on her on on Glory so I mean it’s nothing against the glory yeah oops right both of those were a little oopsies but yeah oh well um but you know when you compare ship to ship you know you’re looking at Utopia then you’ve got your other other options are a Disney cruise which is probably going to cost more than a 7-Day on I know way or the Carnival Glory which Good Ship but half liter literally half the size right and then but then you also have the seashore you know and it’s not always doing SE um threes and fours it does sevens occasionally um I I don’t know if you’ve kind of noticed but like with her schedule she does a 34 yeah she does a 347 347 which is why she kind of does yeah it’s every other week like one week she’ll do the three and four and then the next week she’ll do a a full seven gotcha but it’s it honestly that’s kind of a unique thing that they do in the first place is just that um that type of itinerary where they mix it up so quickly and frequently right yeah it’s um you don’t see that too often they usually ships will they stick to one that’s it right these days it’s a little more frequent but for the most part like you said they’re going to pick an itinerary and just kind of stick to it you know seven nights three and four nights four and fives five and NES you know they don’t really go seven nights four nights three nights so it’s it’s a pretty unique thing even though today it’s becoming a little more more popular right exactly it’s yeah that that three and fortnite is definitely coming more more and more popular um my cat’s back um oh no but um but yeah it’s it’s you know it’s cool that they’re doing something like that though because not many they always stay to one specific ier they don’t move them around very often right and I mean or at least mix it up at least I mean they you know ships around all the time but you know alternating itineraries that frequently every other week you know or just offering something like that where it’s you know you can do a three a four or a full seven night and some people even stay on I’ve seen 11 night offerings just because you you get started with the four night and then you stay on for the seven like there’s so many options that you have with the sea shore which is kind of unique to that ship and that itinerary that it’s doing right exactly yeah it’s um yeah I mean they’ve they’ve adopted that and it’s doing well and they have a good ship doing it um so I don’t see why they shouldn’t and you can even stay on I guess it would be three cruises in a row and do the 14 nights right exactly I that that’s awesome I don’t I haven’t really looked too far into like what type of itinerary it does for the 14s or the I guess the sevens um but I know it kind of GOES Western Caribbean usually I don’t know if it goes to the private island or not or if it’ll double dip in Private Island um if you were to stay for the full two weeks or not but it’s still pretty pretty awesome of an itinerary that you could do on that oh for sure that’s that’s cool that’s kind of like how um I think MSC does it and I think I think princess does it where they offer seven night cruises or 14 night cruises you so you can book it as the 14 night but it’s just two seven night cruises so it’ll do like an eastern western or you can just right yeah somebody used to do that too and I know that was like kind of a thing you could do intentionally or unintentionally you could do with like the Oasis in aore back in the day you know they used to alternate itineraries like that yeah you could have easily but it was it’s that one you would have just had to book two cruises whereas with Princess and MSC they literally offer which I don’t know what the difference is Maybe it’s a little bit cheaper if you do the 14 KN instead of the two sevens but it’s it’s like an like if you look it up it’s sold as like a 14 night cruise and it’s just the two seven nights back to back yeah and I’ve even noticed on on the cruise timetables schedule thing that we look at all the time I notice um usually Seashore will come up twice offering a three night cruise and it’ll also be offering a seven night cruise or an 11 night cruise or something like that right so it’s pretty pretty awesome and now we’re getting an entirely new ship we’re getting a second ship um to just kind of expand on what they’re doing here and we’re getting a an awesome ship it’s not like they’re adding you know a little one to kind of run alongside we’re getting an even bigger ship and one of their biggest uh with Theo so soon I’m very excited for that because that ship hasn’t been over here so even though it’s basically a slightly larger marilia it’s still a different ship like we haven’t we haven’t had that one here yet so that would be pretty cool right it would be its it’s going to be its first time in North America really it’s been over in Europe ever since it came out um which I think that was kind of the ship that came out during Co um or one of the first ships that came out during Co is the righta or it was either her or The Virtue Osa it was those are the two CL and kind of the big ones right which I think is another one of those yeah exactly it was um so I mean it’s it’s a very unique you know class ship where it’s it’s kind of bigger it almost reminds me of going from the Voyager to the freedom class yeah it’s a good good comparison but uh that’s going to be offering a seven night atary which is going to be cool so that’s just going to be straight sevens compared to you know the three four S 11 14 whatever the heck you want to do on this sure yeah it’s it’ll it’ll be different from what they’ve been doing because basically since MSE came to canaville they’ve been doing they might have had some longer cruises mixed in but for the majority of them they’ve been the short cruises um so it’ll be a nice change to have a weeklong ship out of canaval right and the weird thing I noticed is it’s going to be running out of on Saturdays Saturday to Saturday which you know in my head is awesome because we’re now going to get two days back to back on weekends um every weekend really with an MSE ship so we’re going to have you know grandiosa Saturdays and seore on Sundays right but my thing is like where are they going to put it because this season alone you know and they say it’s going to come in like the winter season of 202 uh 2024 or 2025 26 the new terminal is not going to be ready until summer of 26 but there’s already six ships on schedule already for Port Canaveral in um 2025 in that winter season so that’s uh I don’t know what they’re going to do and like I don’t know whose idea that was but it’s not even like they could just put her somewhere temporarily like I don’t even know where she would go right that’s that’s kind of Miami do that Miami used to do before they built A and B like they would just dock it like a like like like the Pearl the Norwegian Pearl it was right when I think it was right when the Escape came out it was like one of the first few sailings the port was packed and pearl was there I don’t know what she itinerary she was doing but she docked where Terminal B is now and they just had like a big like event tent set up on the pier as a makeshift terminal but I don’t think you could do that for six months seven seven months until you know a new terminal gets built so right it’ll be interesting right exact like I don’t know like I’ve seen I’ve seen it happen before seven has happened once to my knowledge it’s only happened one other time and it was like when the Dawn was coming in from New York and they docked itg you’re just disembarking you know it’s not right this isn’t an embarcation port for them right like that for the grandiosa it’s an embarcation Port so like they have to figure out some sort of like logistical way to pull this off yeah it’ll it’ll be interesting I’m maybe they have they just have something planned and they have’t hav’t announced it yet but yeah I don’t I don’t know I don’t know what it’s going to be right because like the again the following year for 26 going into 27 not going to be a problem you know because now we’re going to have that seventh terminal which it’s crazy to think that our first year with the full seven terminals is already going to be a full year anyways every single week so it shows how much we desperately need the eighth one that’s a different story for a different day but yeah it’s pretty pretty crazy to think about you know that we’re going to have now seven ships it seems like on on Sunday I don’t know if maybe Cruise Tim tables is updated I can kind of see if I can pull it up on the side but um I can pull it up H whatever but yeah it’s it’s it’s crazy to think about and then you know MSE just continues to grow and grow and grow I mean you know there’s an article earlier today that showed there’s going to be seven ships in their Fleet that are going to go to the US going from the 25 to 26 winter season I think that’s the most they’ve ever done yeah yeah that’s wow yeah uh looks like time tables has not updated yet the grandios is not on there I don’t see it when did she come in I think it was the 20 winter of 25 into 26 yeah it could be that if the itineraries AR aren’t available for bookings that it may not I don’t see her on here um honestly I hope theyve got good prices because I’d 100% like to go on that ship prima’s coming back yes when the joy comes back yeah I guess comes she’s not coming back she’s never been here before but you know what I mean right yeah whatever but yeah the um the Prima is coming back for another season she’s going to run the Sundays at a Terminal 5 um because MSE is going to be running out of terminal coming too in February of 26 yeah she’s doing threes and fours but yeah the m is not MSC is not on here yet interesting interesting yeah so not updated yet so there up live update yeah speaking of live updates earlier today well actually probably within like the last hour this is more like I guess say breaking news sort of kind of MSC is in talks right now with Meer Meer wor or my turku in building a world’s largest cruise ship yes surprise news I I don’t know where that came from okay if anybody was gonna do it it’s gonna be MSC I I wasn’t expecting NCL is the last one I would expect Carnival’s probably not never going to try to build a world’s largest cruise ship but MSC I could see it as aggressive as they’ve been and as aggressive as they are I’m not surprised at all that I’m hearing this but at the same time seeing how our current world’s largest crew ship is 250,000 gross tons oh my God so we it’s all on it’s not official of course we haven’t seen anything yet from MSC confirming this but it seems like negotiations are underway for a a over 250,000 ton ship for MSC cruises um and I think it even had the little thing in there saying that would start construction in 2028 so in a few years from now yeah that’s uh that’s crazy stuff that’s I wasn’t expecting to hear that today um it was not on my bingo card right yeah definitely not on my bingo card it makes sense with just because of the growth of the company in the last decade or so um and I you know obviously one of the ships is going to come to to Miami um absolutely flid in general you know they’re going to have the new terminal in Miami soon to accommodate um the world class so I mean it makes sense I’m I’m I’m not I’m surprised but it it makes sense like you know it’s more surprising in the fact that it was announced or kind of hinted at I don’t know if it was really announced um but yeah that’s that’s exciting especially if it’s going to come to you know the United States which one of them will come at whatever many they build yeah knowing MSC I feel like probably the first one would end up coming to the US which right is surprising for a Italian based company but given that they are going so hard into the us right now with their markets and their ships like it’s I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it right yeah um I think the reason world uh the first one world EUR Europa besides the name didn’t come here is just because they didn’t have a terminal uh to accommodate it so I think that probably played a role in it so they figured all right you know the first one will kind of cruise all over Europe and you know Dubai wherever she goes um and then the second one you know we’ll be ready in time uh the new terminal will be ready in time for it so it kind of worked out timing wise um so you know in eight years six to eight years when this if this new one is on schedule for that time frame um I wouldn’t be surprised the first one came here right exactly and it it’s not like they wouldn’t have the capacity for it like you mentioned the new terminal you know it’s not done yet yes but you know I I it’s definitely one of the reasons why Europa didn’t come here and I wouldn’t put it out of the realm of possibility yes it has Europa in the name and you know the world Asia is probably going to go to Asia but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the world Europa here in the US at least seasonally at some point um just you know they’re building such a big terminal too like it it’ll hold huge the renderings alone show two worldclass ships at that terminal and they they set it every time they you know will show off like the specs and things you know to expect out of this out of this terminal they always say it’ll hold two world class ships like they say that they make sure that is said every single time yeah it’s it’s a very specific detail that they like you said continuously bring up um see it’ll be interesting and the next the other interesting thing would be to see if p gaval uh comes to some kind of agreement with MSE to have them I know we’ve kind of spoken on gez now I don’t know if this is public information or not but the fact that they want to have more Port controlled terminals I think is in Cruise Line specific um but it’ll be interesting to see if they work out some kind of contract with MSC to to build a ter an MSC terminal there um especially with the fact that they have two ships going there now and if they order these bigger ones you know it’d be an interesting you know it’d be a good marketing draw to have a huge mcing you know competing with star in canaval you know and I actually this kind of just came to my head but you know how incredibly insane it would be is that so you know 20126 is when we’re getting this this new new terminal in in Port canaval um but that’s still original terminal 4 quote unquote the one by the marina that’s that’s still coming from what they say and I’m wondering if they if they announce this new like coming soon terminal because they wanted that Port control yes but what if MSE does step in for this next one you know the second one that’s under construction that the one for the marina and they do put something there and they build this brand new giant terminal for this new world and they put a world class ship there like the fourth one could come to the US and it could you know how amazing it’d be to for MSE to debut a new world class ship in the United States or into uh Port Canaveral that would be incredible they keep saying they want to compete with royal and the only way to do stick a giant ship where they’re putting their giant ship so exactly it’d be interesting be interesting you know it comes down to that you know you don’t want to Icon and put a ship in Texas you know that’s not gonna work so right exactly you know it’ll be interesting it seems like MSC is trying to get up there with you know the big dogs Carnival and and oh they are it they may not be up there with royal but they they are absolutely right there with Carnival in Norwegian right now I and I we’ve had this conversation before the last time we had an MSC specific you know podcast we talked about how how closely they are with the competition now it used to be you know it was Royal like Carnival Royal Caribbean like slightly behind Norwegian was pretty much there with and then MSC was kind of down low kind of maybe with the Disney cuz it was just a little bit too Niche at the time right for like MSC over the last I would even say just like the last three years alone has gone from just like a a mid-range like popularity Cruise Line to probably one of the biggest yeah theyve like like we’ve said in the last decade they their fleet has ex exploded um yeah the Fleet is exp Rising yeah they’re quickly rising in in popularity especially in America and that’s really where most of the cruise business is right now so they’re doing something right and I love it because have new ships right exactly it’s truly incredible what they’re what they’re pulling off and I think you know one I guess one thing that they kind of have going their way is MSE pun intended or not I mean they are they’re a shipping company they’re a cargo Shipping Company you know they always have been and they’ve just recently got into you know the pass passenger cruise Market but they have an entirely different Revenue stream you know apart from you know what Royal Caribbean and Carnival and Norwegian have so like they’ve got such a unique piece of like the market and just the piece of the industry that they could rely on their shipping and their you know their Leisure cruises right so like and I think that that’s kind of where they get some of their pricing from is just because they can offer so much lower prices because they make so much more off of their actual cargo you know industry exactly so they they have that kind of buffer to you know test out different things or or expand their Fleet you know twice as fast as any other Cruise Line um and crank out these huge ships um so it’s no surprise that we’re seeing you know announcements of even bigger ships in the world America um and if something you know even during covid they like you said they had the the shipping industry that they that they own cargo didn’t stop cargo stopped during Co when you know all the other ships were laid up yeah we weren’t seeing the seaside and the marilia and all those weren’t shipping cargo containers but MC has hundreds of shipping you know like cargo ships out there so like those were still operation those were still making them money you know right it was at least at the time there at least keeping them you know quote unquote afloat and just kind of at least breaking even at at minimum I don’t know exactly the full depth of it but they were at least had some sort of Revenue stream compared to the other Cruise Lines during that time um which really helped them out and I feel like it’s probably why they’re in such a good spot now yeah that that’s why we’re seeing all this growth now with um MSC because they didn’t really fall behind I mean obviously they lost revenue from the ship’s not sailing I mean that’s going to happen regardless but they were much better positioned than any of these other cruise lines to come out of this you know firing on all cylinders I mean they like like we’ve seen they’ve they’ve ordered more world class ships three repositioning more ships to Florida they they they might be ordering largest ships in the world here soon so I can’t believe that it’s it’s so incredible to think about like going on icon it was just unbelievable how big that ship was and I I can’t imagine something being bigger than that yeah it’s uh it’s you don’t you know we haven’t heard anything like that in the last 15 years after Oasis came out um right nobody nobody besides Royal Caribbean has been doing something like that right um so it just shows how good of a position they were coming out of covid and you know they didn’t really slow down or Miss A Beat um so it’s exciting it’s very exciting right exactly and you know Royal kiban I think was in a good spot coming out of it and you know just the way that their their new ships were scheduled you know that really helped them a lot but they also had they still took on a lot of debt during that which you know not saying that MSE didn’t I don’t know the exact financials again they’re not publicly traded so we didn’t really know a whole lot about it right but you know to the extent of them having a entire cargo industry that was still going at the time you know they probably weren’t taking on as much debt as the others and they also kind of had a little bit smaller Fleet than everybody else at the time too right you know and and now it msse is also starting up like their own small like ex exploration and luxur luxury Brands now I mean they’re like they’re doing everything now like the Explorer ships that they have coming out there’s there’s just they’re trying everything at this point they’re in the best position to do it so you know Applause to them yeah they’re they are really really killing it um it’s yeah but going back to you know do you think we do you think we could get a world class here in Port Canaveral oh for sure it might not be right away um especially now that you know they’ve got one going to Miami and they’re goingon to have the new terminal down there um and the fact that they’re just announcing grandiosa coming to Port Canaveral but with the fact that literally in that article today that they said you know that these ships that they’re building um or they want to build these bigger ones are going to directly compete with icon it literally say that it’s directly to compete to compete with icon um knowing that that it’s their mentality to do that that’s their goal right I wouldn’t be surprised if if they put a world class ship there uh just to say because it’s a very similar to at least you know in the back with that split structure they’re very similar so um original sketches of Icon were pretty similar to the world class which is kind of funny to me right so it might I wonder if I wonder if like you know when everything was coming together with the icon class over the years I wonder if like somebody in the design team from icon like left and went to you know went to MSC or if somebody from MSC just saw it and they started taking notes you know I’m not saying they you know the running jok is that they copy I don’t know if they actually do or not but you know there’s a lot of is that and things that MSE has done over the years that is very similar to other Cru LS very suspicious it’s very it’s a little suspicious little bit you know not I wouldn’t say it’s a good thing or a bad thing you know you do you get your competitive advantage or you know do your own little twist on it and get your leg up in the industry I mean you know you got to do what you got to do sometimes you’re here you know yeah you’re here to make money that’s what companies are out to do they’re they’re there to make money whether they want you know whether yeah that yeah no it’s very well said that’s it you know that’s that’s the heart of every company I mean if a company’s not making money then you know what you know what are they doing what are we doing right exactly you know your investors aren’t going to be too happy when you know you’re not making money you’re not trying to innovate your ships um and do and follow like the trends in the industry right and that’s that’s what they’re doing I mean it’s you know basic marketing strategy to to follow what’s working you know and right Royal Caribbean a lot of what they’re doing if not everything that maybe not price gouging but everything else that they’re doing is working you know um so I don’t love to see them give Royal kin a run for their money right now I would love to see it because I would love to see those prices come down oh yeah they’ll come down real quick because they’re going to be like oh we’re not the only ones now that have ships like this or destinations like this so right exactly watch out Royal Caribbean that’s that’s one thing is like and what’s Royal’s response to that going to be is my thing because like if you think about it back in the day the they’ve never really been challenged for the world’s AR’s cruise ship title they they never have been for at least 20 years now you know caral not even close the last time Carnival held that title was back in 96 with the destiny and then and then you had the Voyager get ordered pretty much shortly after that even debuted and came in 35% larger than Carnival’s and Carnival just Carnival just gave up after that trying to make a World’s AR creu ship because true we never we never saw a ship over 135,000 tons over the you know the size of Voyager we never saw a Carnival ship that big until we got the Vista right exactly yeah they like you said they pretty much said we’re out right exact and you know Disney U Disney will never be like that I mean they have a 200,000 ton ship but that was kind of like a that’s a one-off thing they didn’t really purposely order that ship well you don’t accidentally order a ship like you would accident book a cruise like we do but right but um but you know what I mean like you know Disney Disney’s not going to build the worlds arest cruise ship that’s not what they’re out to do they’re they’re out to you know provide you know these Disney and magical quote unquote magical vacations you know Norwegian Cruise Line yeah they I think they at one point were you know like all right we have we have something rolling here um and now they’ve got the 200,000 ton ships and I think that’s that’s just absolutely going to be where the industry goes over you know through the end of the 2020s and into the 2030s which is crazy to think about that we’re already talking about the 2030s um for real but you know that’s just where the industry is going to be in a couple years you know nobody’s going to be building smaller than 200,000 that’s that’s insane I guess it’s the same way with you know once they crossed over 100,000 it kind of didn’t go see anything yeah you don’t see anything below 100,000 unless you’re talking like small luy lines even virgin is building small ships right now and they’re still the size of the conquest class I mean that’s still huge for for a new Cruise Line to be building their own ships instead of buying like older ones they’re huge they’re they’re massive and I love it I think it’s great oh absolutely I think honestly virgin voyages is just unbelievable and you know and what they’ve been able to accomplish over the last couple years is when it’s just solely for the fact that they are starting from scratch where I mean nobody does that nobody’s done that in a long time you know didn’t do that Norwegian I’m pretty sure didn’t do that like no it it just doesn’t happen no impressive that they were able to do and convert them right I know there I mean I heard there was a lot of you know design things with the with the Scarlet lady class ships or the versin Voyages ships but like you know for the for it being their first ever ship and their first ever design of a ship it’s pretty good pretty impressive good job Richard right so I mean it’s you know but then there’s there’s MC just coming like out of nowhere and they’re they’re just really kind of coming for everybody and I think they they’ve got a good shot at you know kind of I don’t know if they’re going to Dethrone and become number one but they’re going to come pretty close to it I mean if these if these 250,000 ton ships from them come out soon or if they actually like come to fruition and come to life like that that will catapult them whether or not you know I mean and ncl’s already said that they building the 200,000 ton ships Carnival you know they’re still apparently pending Finance on the 200,000 ton chips I don’t know it’s taking them so long knows but if they build 200 if they build the world largest cruise ship the 250,000 on ships are going to order probably at least two at least two oh yeah yeah you have to and if these are coming out in 2030 2031 you know given that they said they’re going to start construction in 202 they are going to become like the number two and start giving Royal K to run from their money they could just because I don’t know if they have the brand recognition to really do it but they they can they could probably go for number one if they really wanted to yeah they’re they’re definitely besides Carnival they’re they’re definitely in the best you know position position to to do that for sure especially with the announcement today or whatever you call it the leak information the rumor I guess or the leaks or whatever you want to call it but it it’s just although I don’t like the I don’t like the rendering oh ugly ugly it’s very ugly but I’m pretty sure it’s just like an AI render of it or just somebody to like catch your attention it’s like it just looks like a random futuristic ship design is really all it is something that you would just see like yeah AI create you know I don’t think it’s going to be the actual thing but it’s just funny that it looked so bad and so ugly with that with that rendering and whatever the heck that was that they showed off but I think know what that was yeah but it’s it’s crazy it’ll be really interesting to see what they’re able to pull off and and you know go with in the future here yes agreed but yeah I think uh that we might as well go ahead and kind of wrap things up here is there any any additional statements that you wanted to make uh for the podcast here it’s going to be a little bit of a shorter episode yeah sorry I got some things I got to do tonight but um no I mean it’s you know I get ready MSC is gonna have a very strong foothold in the American Market very soon I would think by the end of the decade um once once World America gets here I think they’re really going to pick up over here even more than they already havei two and um or M possibly three in Miami I think I haven’t really looked at it uh at Le but at least two two in canaval one in Galveston one in New York um I think Bima Bima I think is going to La there you go so even I didn’t even know that so there you go they’re they’re coming so if you’re looking to take a cruise and you’ve done all the other major Cruise Lines check out MSC because I haven’t yet I want to yeah so hopefully they’ll our YouTube channels and be like oh hey guys you should come in on our ship but we know that’s if you’re listening to this we you know please please please please but um yeah any anyways it’s been a fun conversation I’m very excited to see what uh MSC does over the next couple years and with this new project things like that and you know of course I personally hope I get the I get the chance to sale with them soon because you know I I’ve been trying for so long trying to find you know the right time to go and things like that and I I I would love this to be the year that I finally try MS see whether or not it happens but I would love to try them soon me too but most definitely not this year
