lovely coffee shop with a view free shuttle service from sator Pier so I had to take let me think here yellow line MRT to the circumvent line green line transfer over to the seum L four four lines and it took me um an hour and a half an hour and a half then I got to sator Pier uh it took me only about 10 minutes to catch the ferry over here you can see right now there’s the ferry right there coming over very relaxed you know it’s very nice the hotels the Hilton and the peninsula take you over which is quite nice so today we’ll you know we’ll have my coffee here which is not bad a little weak anyway we will have my coffee here chat a bit we’re going to head over to Icon cam which is just a hop skip and a jump five minute 10 minute walk away from here and we’re going to go in there and look at sukam you know that’s the big setup in the bottom floor of the icon cam uh you know it’s old Thailand new Thailand good morning Bruce how you doing how’s everybody doing today good morning good here goes the there goes the ferry how many people on it nobody’s on nobody’s on the ferry when I came over I was the only person on the ferry so you know I like doing this once in a while coming down coming down uh you know to the river and just checking stuff out you can’t go wrong with the peninsula the Oriental uh Cafe meline you can’t go wrong with any of these places so you know it’s nice to come down once a while I wish my wife could do it more often uh because you know she’s she’s busy in the morning most of the time although we’ll have a little time in the next couple of weeks but it would be nice if she could come down here with me so I don’t have to have coffee alone or with you fine fellows and gentle women if there are some women out there watching right now uh a lot going on in Thailand right now uh wow where do I begin let’s see let me look at my notes because I do have copious number of notes Here at least for me uh the first thing we got to talk about is the brawl in Patia The Big Brawl so far nothing’s come of this which doesn’t surprise me doesn’t surprise me at all and the reason it doesn’t surprise me is because you have a couple of guys who were probably too drunk they may have said something they may not have said anything I don’t know uh apparently they fired off a shot and whacked a girl in the face and so the ties retaliated like they always do they jump in in mass and they beat the hell out of the guys however they didn’t beat him that bad because they didn’t have to go to the hospital uh and you know who knows maybe they’re just banged up bruised knocked out and and that’s it I don’t know but that’s what so far what I’ve gathered uh from all the articles that I’ve read and everything I’ve seen and these men have not filed charges and the security guards haven’t filed charges and the girl who supposedly got hit hasn’t filed charges so nothing’s going to come of it now in a perfect world what would I like to see happen I’d like to see first of all the woman actually being hit that person who hit her needs to be held accountable then you have the security guards bouncers whatever and I mean it’s one thing if they shove him and put him outside and and you know maybe hit him once or twice okay that should never happen really either you should ask them please go outside they don’t want to go outside okay you got to you got to bring them outside or whatever but once they start kicking and one and this is what I was told cuz I kicked somebody in Thailand and what the police told me is once you kick that’s like you’re trying to finish the person off you’re trying to kill them and so there were numerous kicks thrown and you know I don’t know the whole story I don’t really know what the real story is the true story is who does you can only gather what you get from the news and quite frankly I don’t believe I believe 50% of the news that I see and I don’t believe 50% of it so really it’s probably better nobody does anything but I don’t know why they’re not coming forward uh maybe they’re embarrassed who knows I mean you know the foreigners got their asses kicked granted there was maybe double the number of them but they still got their asses kicked and they didn’t do very well and if they did hit the girl then they were at fault they know that so why would they go and try to talk about everything that happened and possibly face charges for hitting a woman or who who knows what could happen so at the end of the day I think it’s fine nobody’s getting in trouble they got their asses kicked they don’t want to report it that’s on them and that’s the end so forget about it this kind of stuff happens all the time and it’s funny because I can tell you that a British man punched a Russian he was 27 years old the Russian he was 27 or 28 depending on what sources you believe I can’t believe you cannot get the exact number the exact age of a person I know I’ve I’ve done these things before I’ve done reporting I’ve done things where I had to get the facts um no I I I read several accounts where supposedly they HIIT a woman in the face um but that doesn’t make it it doesn’t make it possible for the guards to just beat the hell out of the guys then what they need to do is they need to detain them or detain the person who hit the woman and they need to have charges placed against it not some little 500,000 bot charge I’m talking about you know that’s assault you hit a woman and you got to go to jail for a year or two or a couple of years whatever it is whatever they determine but a British man a young British man hey how you doing how y’all doing uh a young British man 27 or 28 years old hit a Russian who was 36 or 38 uh apparently this person who hit the Russian was with his wife or girlfriend and the daughter was there at this party and this Russian guy even though the Russian’s wife was there supposedly was saying things to the daughter like you know not so nice sexual things like you know I want to bend you over or something like I’m want to bang you whatever it is and so the British guy got pissed and punched him he punched them the Russian went down the end the Russian died so now uh you know saying something to a daughter does not mean that you have the right to hit somebody and hit somebody and kill somebody I suspect he’s going to jail for a long time and he won’t be getting out and originally there was no death a couple hours later it said there was a death so supposedly this guy is dead this is like 3:00 in the morning the wife of the one guy went home and she was messaging him and he wasn’t messaging back and she got a little bit worried well now she knows why let’s take a look at this here this [Music] tugbo quite nice here although you know the the the shades are down uh to protect you from the sun which it does a good job of but it it does block your view a little bit but that’s all right I mean I have a pretty good view you guys can see this now something else that happened and you know here’s the thing you have this brawl in paa uh and you know this is one reason why I don’t go out that much because I don’t go out much to places like bars I just don’t because you have a lot of drunk people and you don’t know what they’re going to do have you ever I know I’ve had this many times there’s been a drunk person and he wants to be your friend ah my friend oh you know and he’s like hanging on you slobbering on you talking to you and you’re like yeah yeah yeah okay okay and then you’re like enough already I got to get away from this guy you try getting away from the guy and then the guy gets pissed off why you know and it’s like I don’t want to deal with that I don’t want to deal with that kind of stuff and I don’t have the patience for it really I I just don’t have the patience for it it’s not that I want to hit somebody or beat somebody up or I just don’t have the patience I don’t want to be around it as you get older you understand that violence is not going to solve very much yeah I mean see that’s the thing with me is that I’m not the kind of guy who can pretend that I’m your friend I can pretend I like you you know don’t screw me up the ying-yang and then expect me to shake your hand and be your best friend because I won’t be it’s not how it works so this is the reason why I just you know and I mean really when you think about it how many times do you see 60 70 year old men in bars and what kind of men are they that are in bars all the time I’m not talking about somebody who goes out once in a great while with his friends or I’m not talking about that I’m talking about guys who hang out in the bars mostly it’s younger people and you know the the drink will change a person it changes people all the time and this is this brings me to something else and this is about the marijuana law how on Earth can they say that marijuana is so much more deadly than alcohol alcohol is legal it’s legal but they have backing they have big money behind alcohol I don’t know about the weave but they’re making billions off of the weave and I’ll get to that in a minute it’s irritating uh but here’s the thing you got these people getting in bro a all in in patio now this news gets out it’s not I wouldn’t call it viral but it’s out people know about it people who follow Thailand know about it and so they see this does this make them want to go to ptia no it doesn’t I don’t think so I mean I’m going next month with the wife and I can guarantee you we will not be in bars we just won’t be you know maybe we’ll be in the bar in the in the hotel or something like that we might go and have a drink or two that’s it but we’re not going to go somewhere where people are getting crazy and you know dancing on the stage and whipping their dongs out and and you know bending over and getting jiggy with it it’s not going to happen it’s just not going to happen I’m just not into that anymore I don’t know why I just don’t want to see some guy making a fool of himself dancing on the stage and then I’m supposed to be his best friend I just don’t want to see that so that’s why I stay away from those places now it’s not good for tourism somebody getting punched in the face and killed with one punch is not good for tourism what are these people thinking about what is law enforcement thinking about you know that there are there are police out all the time undercover cops they’re they’re out all the time they’re always busting people for drugs they’re always closing these places down but are they there when violence occurs more than just one or two guys you know they know there’s certain hotspots so maybe they should should make that a priority I don’t know maybe they don’t have the funding wouldn’t surprise me oh you see the the let me see here if I can do this right I know I went the wrong way I always do that over to the right is the peninsula Ferry waiting for somebody to pick up they’re just waiting so what’ll happen is you come down to the pier there’s a peer attendant and the peer attendant will say okay there’s somebody waiting come to the pier pick them up and then they come that’s what they do cappuccino is a little bit weak I mean I’m I’m a little disappointed I think it’s one of those machines where she just pushes cuz I mean she brought it over in like 30 seconds I think she just pushes a button and then it automatically makes a cappuccino but these kind of machines are never really good they’re not what I consider to be great coffee makers push a button boom there’s your coffee and if you push this one you get a hot chocolate if you push this one you get an espresso so you know it is what it is it’s all right but it’s the atmosphere I like this um there’s a couple other places that I want to go to in the near future um but besides this stream I have three more streams before I leave nert the Heritage home and then uh which I’ll do for Mr two qus Korean and then uh uh glang which I do for me and it’s been six months since I’ve been there so I I’m always anxious to go back once or twice a year I I like to go to k because I get to see what’s happened what’s changing if anything and you know there’s some good people there so that’s what I’ll be doing um okay so let’s get to this here uh Thailand has dropped nine places in the tourism rankings the world economic Forum index WF the index uh they they’re number 117 in the world I don’t know how that came about uh but ahead of them in in Southeast Asia Singapore is number number 13 Indonesia is number 22 Malaysia is number 35 and Thailand is used to be 36 now they are number 47 so I don’t know what it is if it’s the overabundance of Chinese and Indians and Russians coming here now I don’t know if that’s what it is I mean maybe it’s it’s just too accessible I I don’t know and maybe it’s not as exotic as as it used to be that’s what I would think and you know the only thing that honestly that keeps me going is I think to myself well what’s this what’s the choice what’s the choice I got to find somewhere to go or I’m just going to sit at home and I’m going to sit on a sofa become a couch potato and I don’t want to do that you know it’s too easy to do that so it pays to go out do things get get out once you become stagnant then I believe you uh you really if you become stagnant then your life is kind of ended oh yeah you’re so old listen I can tell you that let me say see here uh temperature 88° right now high of 95 low of 81 feel like temperature at the moment is 96 which that’s a pretty low temperature humidity is 69% the due point is 76 rain through Saturday and Sunday uh the air quality is 92 which is not very good uh currency 36.58 anything above 36.5 is good in my book but I’d like to see it at about 36 .8 and I think it will rise against the dollar I think the dollar will get stronger and stronger hopefully but we’ll see air quality 92 which is not very good moderate but it’s almost to the point where it’s unhealthy so um so anyway you know you got these things going on and then they affect tourism then you have other factors which I’m not sure of what they are that are affecting the tourism hey maybe one thing that’s affecting it is the threat of um have been like Thailand now I think the equator moved North Texas is always hot it just it didn’t seem like it’s all that humid um you know the Thai examiner and various other locations have said they they act like this weed law that’s coming into effect supposedly is actually going to happen it’s a done deal the Prime Minister said by the end of the year now if you know anything the end of the year doesn’t mean the end of the year the end of the year means that’s when we’ll get to it maybe next year something will happen and maybe it won’t what I’m saying is there’s too much money to be lost they will finagle the laws to where recreational use is permitted but under tighter restrictions you know they’re going to say no children allowed to buy weed which they’re not allowed to buy it now no pregnant ladies allowed to buy weed they’re not allowed to buy it now you can only buy it in these locations and the locations may be location specific to where if you’re anywhere near a school if you’re anywhere near something like a temple they may not be allowed that’s what I think I don’t think they want to roll the back I don’t care what they say and all these media Outlets saying that it’s a done deal but the pot shops are getting ready to close no they’re not they’re not getting ready to close I’m sure they have a plan B but they’re hoping that it doesn’t go through there’s too much money to to be lost no you’re not but people do and you know quite frankly I don’t think that people should be allowed to smoke it’s just like smoking but this is the thing and if you remember during Co they were crying about how they need something else besides tourism as soon as tourism comes back they forget what they say they don’t care they just go right back to oh oh oh oh we want to bring more tourists we want 40 million 50 million they have they’re saying that mostly tourists are the ones who buy all the weed that’s a bunch of rubbish it’s Thai people they’re saying that 75% of Thai people think that the law should be passed and there should be no recreational use now that might be true but still that’s 25% who want it legalized who want recreational use think about 25% of the people that they PLL I don’t think so not not yet well you know that’s it’s it’s not just a tourist you know how many ties I see this really irritates me because I don’t personally like smoking I’ve never smoked i’ve smoked some weed before when I was younger you know I mean I smoked it all the time for 10 years or whatever 15 years uh but I don’t like it now because when you think about it it stinks up everything whether it’s cigarettes or weed it stinks everything up I don’t want smoke in my face and what I see is not only foreigners but I see ties out there with their little vape pens sucking on that glass dick and it just irritates me to me it’s just like they’re sucking on a glass deck that’s what a crack pipe is a glass dick so for them to smoke using a vape pen which supposedly is illegal to me is just wrong thank you Tokyo Sam I’m not sure if we’ll be coming this year or not depends on my kid he has to have surgery but uh we may and it may be three out of the four in the family so I’m looking forward to it thank you for calling me the best dad it’s too bad more people don’t feel like you do Sammy oh God so I think they really need to I think they really need to get a handle on this I mean listen to me I mean I’m old school I’m not used to this [ __ ] that you take a hit and you’re like a nebre I can tell you that I’ve smoked stuff recent stuff you know I’m talking about in last 10 years it’s really strong stuff I’ve taken a hit or two and I’ve been like I don’t want anymore I’m already stoned off my head I don’t want more I don’t need to continue to smoke and smoke and smoke and smoke oh I got to smoke on this big doobie it’s not me I don’t want to do it I don’t feel like I have to do it and you know I I think it’s pointless so the thing is let me see here what’s the let me see what my notes say here apparently 6 three MDS have said that psychiatric treatment was required for people who were smoking marijuana now I I don’t doubt that some people may need psychiatric treatment but I don’t think it’s you can equate it to marijuana it may be that they were screwed up already and then they smoked the pot that made them more screwed up and then they needed to be put under care so that’s what I think about that that’s because the weed is so strong these things well I understand the weed is strong I understand all this and you know but I don’t I still don’t think it makes people psychotic it doesn’t make people want to go out and kill people it doesn’t make people want to do all kinds of things that they’re going to get in trouble with yeah but you know this is the thing everybody says that oh it’s not your hippie weed it’s not like it used to be no of course it’s not but that’s why if you’re smart you don’t smoke as much you don’t need as much you need a hit you know like you get a chill them and you smoke one little hit you don’t need to be smoking in Mass so what you do is you take one or two hits and that’s it you know your limits see that’s the thing however I still think alcohol is far more dangerous I don’t know anybody who Gets behind the wheel of a car who smoked weed who is bouncing off of other cars who’s inebriated I don’t know anybody that does that here’s the thing the world according to Scott marijuana is grown you grow it you pick the buds you smoke a little bit of of the butt you don’t have to make all these derivatives oh my God it’s so strong it’s this that listen I don’t need it to be so strong it was strong before it was when I used to smoke Colombian goat it was plenty strong I used to get stoned all the time and so what I had to smoke a joint I used to smoke two joints now you you you have to smoke three hits okay you know I just don’t get it yeah this is what I mean you don’t need all these things honestly I don’t think that those are necessary now those things they may be necessary for medical use got make sure I don’t have anybody around me here now the place is emptying out I haven’t even shown you guys this place I’m sitting in the area where there’s not many people down this way there’s all kinds of of people and it was a little hard for me to get out of here when I got here I was like looking for a bathroom and um and then I was just taking a look around the the hotel and I couldn’t find my way I got lost I lost my way and I think many people have lost their way when it comes to marijuana I do think listen you want to sell weed it can be medical use which is extremely strong it’s for cancer patients people who need it for pain people who really truly need it and I think that those people should be under great scrutiny I don’t mean you can just go in marijuana cuz it’s a derivative or 10 times stronger then they got to go get cleared by a dock that’s how I look at it and I’m not against it I think it’s a cash cow I think they need to keep it coming in but I think they need to just tighten the rulle a little bit and really watch it and really what they need to do is they need to put the people who are selling it they need to understand they cannot sell to anyone they cannot sell to kids they cannot sell to pregnant ladies they cannot just go out and sell whatever they want like under the table they can’t do that and what they have to do is they have to watch certain people that they suspect or doing this and they have to bust them and not just find okay we’re going to find you 10,000 bot that 10,000 bot ain’t going to do anything you got to find them the equivalent of like 6 months so it really hurts if it doesn’t hurt then it doesn’t make a difference if they’re making 10 million bot in 6 months and you find them even try going to Africa because their visas are exorbitantly expensive you’re lucky if you get a visa for $50 or $100 in some places they’re almost 500 bucks so don’t tell me that you know Thailand is the place where they’re ripping everybody off and you shouldn’t be staying here because they want too much and they’re not treating you well and they’re screwing you around I mean really you think about it you put 25 Grand in the bank which really is not a huge amount of money or you go to an agent or whatever you do and you can stay here Piece of Cake Man and then if this is the lifestyle you want if this is your kind of Lifestyle you can have it if it’s not then go somewhere else a little sple in the evening with a cold beard does that make a pothead asking for a friend I want to meet between 1,500 2500 bot um and you know uh I I’d like to go with a couple of people that’s all I like to share the cost because um yeah I just don’t you know it’s only an hour and a half to me spending buying I mean I’m not coming to places like this I mean you know if I was to come and buy something Versace or something a name brand it would be a big deal for me you know I wouldn’t do it very often off in Lotus go right into Lotus from the uh the Skywalk or you can continue to walk and where do you go down oh you go down in panp babe you go into panp babe on the second floor or you can go down I think they have it blocked off on the second floor but I I took the walk once and I walked down at at pant you know it’s just another pant that’s all it is and generally you can get whatever you want you don’t have to go to I mean you know like nowadays what do you need software for if you really want software you can download it off a website online you can get the stuff online you can you can figure out how to do it it’s very easy to do you don’t need to go and buy a bunch of CDs so nobody needs to do that anymore nobody is going to buy video CDs to watch CDs so you don’t have to do that anymore the only thing you might need is computer equipment you need service you need these kind of things and I can get that around the house I mean I can get that at the mall uh behind the mall bonap there are a couple of places that I can go to and I trust them they’re very good you know no problem in fact I was going to a place in panty Bank bipe the lady who owned it is Indonesia and her husband is Tai and they have a very very nice setup and I always trusted them they always gave me good deals they didn’t jerk me around it was great you know that was that was decent that was a decent coffee so now I think I’m going to take the sky Train and take the sky Train all the way back if I can I remember taking the Gold Line I think it was the Gold Line once before maybe it was the pink they’re grinning at me smiling at me and then they sat down right next to me and you know I just couldn’t help myself I was looking at him going holy moly I’m trying to find a flaw and I think they were Chinese or Taiwanese or something cuz they didn’t speak English and you know they came in they smile hello they did say hello sat down next to me chatted for like 10 minutes then immediately jumped up and left and I thought okay here you go it’s a good day I [Applause] guess sometimes that happens sometimes it’s a Wednesday and you get two for one and I’m like you know I give this away if I saw somebody I don’t care if it’s a guy or a girl if I saw somebody came in and I thought I could give them a free coffee just to be nice I would but you know every time on Wednesday I go in to get the free coffee there’s nobody in there nobody comes in so I’m like I’ll just drink it myself I just drink two coffees and now every once in a while when when when we can my wife comes in but that’s that doesn’t happen very often I’d like I’d like to give away my coffee here you go have whatever you want it’s free just being nice that’s all but there’s there’s never anybody there I don’t know why
