Why you’ll FALL IN LOVE with Türkiye | Cinematic travel vlog to Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ankara & more

Turkiye was never really an option on my traveling bucket list But who’d know a trip that happened so unexpectedly would become something so remarkable But first let’s go back to the beginning cuz this was not the Europe trip that I expected especially for someone who wanted a Christmas celebration Next station, Europe Traveling to Europe for Christmas has always been such a dream It just sounds so much like the perfect holiday And with Christianity being the largest religion of Europe I just know that Christmas is gonna be so grand there Hold up, you might wanna drop that whole perception right there… ("Wait what?") Well we’re still going to Europe except that the country’s population is muslim ("EXCUSE ME???") But hey this is more beautiful than any places you’ve been to And you’re right about one thing: it’s gonna be the perfect holiday Fact number 1: Turkiye is a country that connects Europe to Asia. And the waterway that connects the 2 continents is in Istanbul, which is where we’re at And now we’re touring the “Sultanahmet” the center of a powerful empire Ottoman This is where the two famous mosques are located The Hagia Sophia and the blue mosque Two very significant monuments of the Islamic world Fact number 2: the sunsets here can look way too surreal We didn’t spend the night in Istanbul, but ended up in a completely different city Sleeping all the way on the bus which lasted almost 5 hours I felt so energetic afterwards It was a long road trip before we finally arrived at our destination for the night Say hi HIGH Anyways yeah Good morning If you thought yesterday’s road trip was long today’s even longer cuz we’re moving to a different city again Since we won’t travel much until later here’s another fact to make up for it Cats are everywhere every 2 minutes and a cat will walk past you So in a different universe where I’m not allergic to cats I’ll appreciate them more And for dogs, they are double the size of a typical Thai dog They’re so huge Fast forward to when we finally reached our destination: an ancient Roman spa city Welcome to Hierapolis. A city the Romans believe was the gate to hell Their amphitheater was also one of the finest creations But that wasn’t the highlight, cuz the other spot.. was this. These are travertines or natural thermal pools And as you can see, the white part is made out of calcium deposits so basically nature created this magical place I was actually quite nervous before we got here cuz it’s winter and nobody knew if the pools would dry out Until we’re here… in front of possibly the most stunning sight ever The world can be so magical sometimes Ok so this is our second hotel of the whole trip The beds are quite small, but we’ll live so that’s fine And I’m gonna go change to go swim Ok so the thing is the hot spring at Pamukkale wasn’t hot at all so I guess I’ll just soak myself into the hotel’s pool instead So much better And here we go again on the road, and it means more fun facts for you guys Here are things in Turkiye that just make sense Or don’t. Did you know that the blue eye figure is said to protect against bad luck It’s believed to bring happiness to its owner And I swear they’re just everywhere Next on fact number 5: it’s a Caravanserai This used to be a place for travelers in the desert to stay and rest Basically an ancient hotel. But right now, it’s more of an attraction with displays of carpets And speaking of carpets… Did you know that Turkish people used to believe that a woman had a better chance of getting married if she was a skilled carpet maker And for men, if he was able to sculpt Culturally women weave carpets and men sculpt pottery And if one of them cannot do either, then marriage isn’t possible We’re going to the supermarket and act like a local Why are all the cats so chonky The cat is missing a leg It doesn’t have a leg, I didn’t see that Awww AWWWWWWWW Is it a grandpa or a grandma? This one’s cheap The shop owner brought out a puppy for me to take photos with What a Disney princess moment Okay last fact of the day At night, if you live somewhere near a mosque you can possibly hear the sound of prayers whether you like it or not Alright I think we’ve heard a lot of facts, so let me tell you my story of the night I was with my brother and somebody called us through the phone It’s a woman on the other side of the phone and she said… “Hi” I was like Hi??? And she said "How are you?" And I’m like "Great." AND SHE F**KING LAUGHED The evil laugh. You know like… (*mimics*) I was like- I was freaked out at the moment. I told my brother, he was like “Whaaat?” I called my mom, cuz like I was so f**king scared I told her that a woman called us from… I don’t know who she was, but yeah it was freaky And my dad asked “Who was it?” so I said it’s a foreign woman And then my dad said “B**ch that’s your mom” Like the person that called was my mom Yeah YEAH that’s the f**king story that’s it Basically my mom gave me a prank call and I completely fell for it So let’s move on from my stupidity and talk about my 4th day in Turkiye We’re heading to a region called Cappadocia This place is known for its volcanic landscape, valleys and canyons We got to take a tour of the underground city It’s where Turkish people in the past used to hide from the Roman invasion Cappadocia is also my favorite place of all cuz the vibe is simply so different from the rest Now we’re at the pigeon valley. The nests carved onto those rocks are home to millions of pigeons The weather just happened to be very foggy today so we can’t really see much from up here But I also happen to be such a big fan of foggy weather so I think it’s pretty anyways These tall rocks you’re seeing are called the fairy chimneys They can look very beautiful alone but also when surrounded by thousands of hot air balloons during sunrise And because of that, we’re planning to go see the balloons tomorrow Hopefully the weather doesn’t get worse otherwise it can be too dangerous to fly them But if we do get to see them then I bet it’s gonna look so magical here And the good news is the fog clears up and the day becomes a lot sunnier So it seems like tomorrow’s highlight will be seeing the hot-air balloons then And if you wonder where we’re now I’m proud to present this cave-styled hotel We’re staying at the Exedra hotel for our 4th night and it’s definitely the best one so far It has this old-world appeal where you’ll feel like you’re fully immersed in the local territory which is this Anatolian plateau Plus winter isn’t a high season for tourists to visit Turkiye so it’s like we have this place for ourselves But what’s more exciting than the hotel is the activity that we’ll be doing tomorrow Going to see the hot-air balloons We just woke up at 4am for this and it’s absolutely the sunrise you’d wanna wake up for So shriveled They’re all coming down? This is how they take down the balloon Bye bye balloons Then we got back to the hotel to have breakfast And we left Cappadocia We’re now going to the capital city of Turkiye, which is not Istanbul like what most people think It’s actually Ankara Ankara just gives off a more reserved and political vibe compared to Istanbul This famous monument here for instance lies the tombstone of the first president of Turkiye And the monument itself is surrounded by so many soldiers that it creates quite a serious atmosphere Makes you feel like you wanna serve the country though While in contrast… Istanbul makes you feel like a tourist There’s so much food to try, so many people you wanna get to know and just new cultures you wanna delve into With influences from both Europe and Asia, it creates a unique atmosphere that is vibrant and welcoming There are many things you don’t wanna miss out on once you visit Istanbul The house is so tiny Now that the trip’s ending I’d say it’s been a lovely journey It’s not entirely what I expected… but I learned that we don’t find the most beautiful adventures cuz when we least expect them… they find us. I don’t know why I’m filming the ending for this video right now but it’s probably because it’s night time and I feel like saying something… pRoFoUnd I know there’s been lots of ups and downs throughout the whole trip Like I had genuinely been on the bus for roughly over 30 hours and… it’s always so f**king freezing outside But like on top of all that I’m just I’m just grateful man Like I’m 17 and I’m traveling to places and already made me feel like I’ve lived I just can never expressed enough how kind life’s been to me and how appreciative I am for it

  1. Thanks for presenting us such a nice video. I watched all of it with pleasure.
But please allow me to correct one point. At min 8:48 it was not Turkish people hiding from Roman invasion.
First, there were hardly any Turks living in Anatolia at those times.
Second, it was mostly early Christians who was hiding from Roman persecution. One can see clearly some examples of early Chapels in various locations there.

The subject of who built those underground cities initially is still under debate, but it is believed that they are way older than Christ times.

  2. I have been only in Istanbul and Alanya in Türkiye and I love both cities. Historical places of several civilization that lived there, amazing food and of course kind people ( I met only kind people there) who are ready to help you. I felt home in Istanbul 🥹

  3. This was a nice tour for a 17 year old. Now, if you like to read, read about each of the places you've been to and visit them again in the future (when you're at least 30).
You'll be visiting a whole other country.

  4. For cinematic content, subscribe and comment!

edit: GUYS I'M SORRY IF THE SONG "ARABIAN NIGHTS" OFFENDED YOU. I swear I added it only because it's a cinematic song with the potential to create a great transition. That's all. It was my first time in Turkiye and I wasn't trying to be disrespectful towards any cultural origins at all. I appreciate everyone who commented to give a heads up though! Promise I'll be more cautious next time 😭

  5. I don't usually comment on videos, but your video editing, story and footage are amazing. As a Turk, I would like to correct a very small thing, 8:46 The first Christians, not the Turks, used these caves to hide from the Romans.

  6. I recommend our Tourism Ministries budget to be given to you instead of maklube men as a 𐱅𐰇𐰼𐰜… You did a great job to show my beatiful country. You should come here with your family in the summer for a longer time.

  7. Oh damn, another Turkiye video and another Arab music haha. This is truly maddening. We Turks have lost our tolerance on this issue. This is now an insult to us. The fact that you play Arabic music even at the grave of our ancestor Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkiye, amazes us Turks with your ignorance. 😀

  8. Hi Tanya. It was probably one of the best travel movies I've ever seen.👍 In fact, it was even better that such a wonderful movie told about Türkiye 😎
You are very talented. The cinematography, music, storytelling, and font choices were all great. 🤓 Your voice suits the movie very well. You obviously put a lot of effort into it. Congratulations. I wish you success. You're probably studying cinema. I watched the movie with great happiness. Your style is very nice, I think you should continue on this path. I thought the 17:10 minute time was short, I would watch it even if it was 1 hour. As long as it's quality like this.
Also, the name Tanya Film is a little off, it would be better if you make a TanyaLee Film, just a suggestion. Let it be like you signature. It looks cooler 😉
    Thanks. Greetings from Türkiye…🤗

  9. No way?? The editing and cinematography on this was actually insane. I’m so surprised your such a small channel and aren’t recognised even more. I subscribed now and I can’t wait to see you grow more. Keep up the good work I actually loved this I think this is my favourite YouTube video!

  10. This beautiful country can sometimes remain hidden for some people, that is, one wants to live a beautiful life in a beautiful country, but experiences so many bad things that loving your own country becomes a burden and then turns into great hatred. I wish I could see it this way, I hope all people have good hearts, love :/)

  11. Another fact (s):
    not all Muslims are Arabs
Arabs are Christians and also Muslims; the same ethnicity but different religions.
not all Muslims are Middle Eastern
Turkiye is not the only European Muslim country in Europe but also Bosnia, Albania/Kosova, Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan
You have opened the video with an Arab music about Arabs ☺️
Not very important things but thought to add some of my knowledge.
    Interesting video. Enjoyed watching it.

  12. A beautiful, cinematic video. The scenes, colours, music, narrative and timing was very good. Thank you. I think you are very talented with filming. Hope to see more of such nice work. Wish you and your family the best of all.

  13. I found the Welcome to Türkiye shots very successful, I liked them very much, I hope you had an enjoyable time. I'm curious about what impressed you and liked you the most during your trip. Don't forget to share it with me~~~

  14. Hey girlie! I am so glad that the YouTube algorithm decided to suggest your video! From the first seconds of your video I found myself immersed in your story filled with beautiful cinematics. You are a great storyteller, both visually and verbally. And I feel like, you have a talent combined with a potential for improving for something even better. I don't know if it lies in your heart or not but, I'd love to see the movies you will direct someday. So please keep telling your stories, it definitely reaches the hearts!💕

  15. It's just disappointing to me to see so many angry Turks (with the intention to 'educate' a tourist) representing Turkiye in such a negative way by leaving unkind comments. I hate to break it to you… but some of you here need to realize that people go on vacations to simply enjoy themselves. It’s just unreasonable to expect a foreigner to know everything about the country they travel to. Plus the creator did apologize for her mistakes and I'm sure she learned her lesson. In fact, she's 17. What more do you expect? Let the girl live. If you want people to learn and understand our culture, at least care to do it nicely??

  16. I'm writing this from the province that Pamukkale is located in, Denizli. I'm happy that you liked Pamukkale and Hierapolis and if you're planning on visiting Turkey once again I can recommend you some other places in Denizli. First is the Buldan district, it's the district of Denizli where you can see many houses from the Ottoman era and almond trees nearby. It also is not much of a touristic place so it's mostly locals in there. Second one is Laodicea and it's also another ancient city. It's a bit touristic but bigger than Hierapolis and has more things to see in my opinion. But other than that, I'm happy that you had a great holiday in our country
