      I both lived and worked in Turkey for a number of years, I have never found a country in which I was so completely content. The History is mind blowing, to sit though an operatic performance in the Aspendos at Perge, Side dating back to early Roman times circa 160 – 180 AD and still in regular use as an amphitheatre, it was a wonderful experience. The ancient ruins dotted throughout the country and a history that feeds those hungry for knowledge. Te people are some of the warmest anywhere in the world, the gastronomy en par with anything you will find in the expensive retaurants of Paris. The Turkish people have a love of animals and all the stray dogs, tagged and cared for by the people, you will never see a badly treated of starving dog or cat, the people value them and take care of them. I have never seen a bad natured dog in Turkey, the strays are gentle, kind and appreciative of the titbits offerred them from the Turks and the tourists alike. On the flip side, business dealings are fraught with deceptions, bribes and incentives, often built into deals, corruption is so much taken for granted and is guarateed to be found everywhere on every level,within Politicians right to the very top, the Police where corruption is rife and in the military where any dealings with them are prone to verbal outbursts as to who is getting what in bribes, they call them commissions, but they are bribes. Even the government banks who 'fix' public auctions of siezed properties, and goods, to favour the best loaded brown envelope slipped surreptitiously under the desk. However, there is nowhere i would rather be, a stunningly beautiful country with breathtaking scenery differring as you travel the vast country, Brilliant roads, turquoise seas and golden sands that burn your bare feet if you forget your flip flops. It is God's country and one to be enjoyed and appreciated.
