What Superyacht Crew Do When There Are No More Charters?

hey guys welcome back to another video so for today’s video we are here in North Sound and it’s going to be a little bit of a different video so we don’t actually have any guests on at the moment it’s going to be an off Charter week so we’re going to see what all the crew get up to during this time so Corey obviously we’ve just finished all the charters for this season now we’re in a bit of a maintenance period so what’s your role as bason um in the deck team so basically after the charters we sort of try to pack everything away reset so all the tenders get washed stowed flushed all the usual sort of business we won’t really use most of them until probably may end of May so they’re all stowed nicely and then we get on to sort of maintenance jobs so we open up cracks and paint chips sort of little damages that we haven’t had time to fix on Charters so Chris sort of handles a lot of tender sort of maintenance on the on real wild I bounced around between Franco and trist and we sort of just do maintenance together I teach the boys how it works and Fairing and sanding and then we go from there nice man sweet hey guys what’s happening so today I’m going to take you through a little varnish job that I’m busy touching up right now so we have these little tea tables over here um that we did try and repair but we weren’t in the most ideal of timing so do have some brush jokes since I’m pretty much going to be sanding these down and reeing them and R varnishing [Music] them so now that everything’s vanished and been alcohol cleaned I’m now going to prep it with yellow tape all right guys Chris here um I am the chase Bo captain on l53 HCB and I’m currently busy doing some varnish touchup we’ve got our last little bit of prep before we start varnishing um like I said preparation is everything with varnishing so our next step now got a little paint got some foil got our epip rubbed effect uh varnish and then we also got some brush thinner so the first thing I do is always just put some foil inside of our paint trays just so we can reuse them to and look like this [Music] so welcome to the team Sonia how are you doing you I’m doing so good thanks yeah amazing tell me a little bit about yourself where are you from so I’m from Brockville Ontario Canada it’s right on the St Lawrence River beautiful boating there how long have you been in the industry for I’ve been in the industry for 7 years now it was only supposed to be one but here we are 7 years later still loving it amazing and uh what position are you on board so I’m a stewards housekeeping stewards on board um but I think on this boat everyone kind of helps where they can so I’m super excited to get into everything what’s your favorite thing to do in your spare time ooh I love diving big diver um anything like hiking running anything outdoors and the guys on board are incredible at Water Sports so I’m hoping that I can get some lessons and I can like make those skills even better 100% yeah I mean this vat is such a active program so it’s pretty much perfect for you amazing amazing yeah I think that’s pretty much pretty good yeah hey Paige hello what do you have to here I am doing a deep clean of the crew floors we started in the crew M we are toothpick all these little grooves here in between in the wood getting ready for the med season amazing yeah doing a bit of detailing getting all that beach sand out yeah it’s built up over time eh yeah nice but it’s been good it’s nice to clean something that’s dirty it’s satisfied it is so satisfying I actually do love it yeah no fair enough all the girls are like yes yes get to clean the floors yeah no it’s good yeah amazing okay [Music] cool hello Sonia hello so what are you up to here I’m doing my favorite thing right now we have these crew seats that are looking a little bit rough they’ve had a whole season of dirty gross sweaty Boys on them and food falling so we’re going to make them beautiful with this machine it cleans all the fabric super deep clean so up here we have where the dirty water is going to go and then down in this bottom one we have a really nice concoction of like hot water and some really nice soaps and detergents and then when you turn it on and you squeeze this button the water’s going to shoot out and you’re going to vacuum it up be able to scrub all of that gross dirt out it’s going to be so satisfying yeah let’s check it awesome so this is my new toy so this is a really useful thing it’s 3D printer modern world modern Technologies and this is one of my favorites this is great fun we got this cuz sometimes you’re a c and you just can’t you can’t get the parts you want to get thought you know what I’ll get a 3D printer or at least this is the excuse I was telling the captain so I could actually buy this um so so far it’s it’s been used for a few different things um we wanted to have some floating golf balls for the guests when they were on board we were running out of the uh biodegradable ones so in their case we had somebody going out and trying to fetch them but because we weren’t anywhere that we could get any for the guests I was like okay I’ll see if I can print one um and for that thousand people have thought of making a 3D printed golf ball already so I was able to go online and find something called an STL file and I take that and then I use that to make them so saves me a lot of time I don’t have to design it if for example um the chefs ask if I can make them a handle instead of a door knob that’s more of a custom thing so on that point I’d come down I use a CAD software and design it from scratch and then print it which geeking out is a load of fun exactly that sweet I’ve got a few different softwares so for this 3D printer it’s a by company called bamboo lab I like them they the enclosed cases and they got a few more materials you can print with which is great uh so the first thing we have here this is the CAD software and this is very simple designer made for um the door handles for the chefs from scratch you just there a few bits to it and took me a bit of time to get used to it so I spending my time off studying this stuff and then from there it goes into something called a slicing um software which is this this is one from bamboo labs and from here will it will basically you put in a few settings so the strength the speed you want to work at the materials the plate you’re using within it and and from there it will automatically create the slice the slice sorry like this and from there I can just go print plate send send it to the printer and that’s simple as that and then we have a new part and then boom there it looks quite good so this this like 3D printed and few other few other little bits like my torch holder things like that it’s just just solid stuff so it’s geeking out but it’s great fun hello so us girls are outside at the moment hoping Steve shoot a quick Easter reel for Sunday so we are currently painting some eggs and hopefully get to throw them at the boys when we done BJ the clip on the rescue Tender Is Coming [Music] Undone it is cleaning time in the galley we have finished the season so now is the time where we get stuck into our deeper cleaning jobs and I start preparing for the upcoming Shipyard or mini Shipyard period that we’ve got in a few weeks time so yeah so right now it’s just me on board um Sean has finished up on board M Lon he’s done two amazing Seasons with us and now it’s just me so I’m managing the crew cooking and also the general cleaning of the gy and also trying to get a few more extra things done right now it’s just deep General cleaning I am this is like one of my least favorite I could say any Chef’s least favorite jobs is cleaning the deep fryer but luckily I’ve got this very strong cleaning stuff to help me clean the deep fryer but uh yeah that’s it from me cleaning feeding the crew just having a little solo party in the galy [Music] [Music] okay so uh we’re just here in North Sound and we’ve been sitting here for what about a week now the forecast has actually changed I I’ll show you guys over on the chart table in a little bit but we’ve got wind coming from the West over the next couple of days which is very unusual for this time of year so if we had have stayed here we would have swung around and taken out all these little sailboats that are on moing balls so we’re going have to pick up I’m just going to come back about three boat lengths about you know 200 M and then redrop the anchor so we have enough of a swing RAR that we’re good to go let’s get these anchors up and let’s get out of here so we’re just trying to work out right now it’s little bit of precision anchoring here we got CX over on our port side we’ve got the channel markers on either side of us there’s two channels that we’re trying to Anchor in the middle of and then obviously all the little sailboats that are on the moing balls so we need to give us ourselves enough room that we can swing especially with the Westerly coming but then also not enough that we swing over into CX so I’m looking at the time zero this is the weather that we’ve got at the moment I’ll Zoom right out so you can see if you can see you got all the everything coming from the north here this is how it’s currently sitting so you can see here all this colorful stuff here is where we’ve been sitting for the last couple of days we usually change the color of the anchor tracking each day just so we know how we’re swinging on that given day this is a tight one but I I think we’ll be able to do it it’s only for a day or two and then the wind comes back around to the East and then we’ll pick it all up and and set ourselves up again so there we go we’ve dropped the anchor we’re just going to stretch the chain out a little bit and then uh just see how we sit got about 150 odd M to CeX over on that side same about to the boats over on our other side yeah we should be looking pretty good here but yeah it was a nice easy maneuver two anchors up one anchor down all set we’re good to go for a couple of days so we’re currently doing our wash down it’s a Friday afternoon so we’re just going to crush this one out we’ve done a lot of paint jobs sanding so it’s filthy at the moment it’s going to do full top to bottom deckheads stain those Flats the whole ordeal just going to go to Florida soon so as long as we get this wash done we can get in give it a nice rinse pack everything away and then should be in a good spot to knock off all is all is [Music] over when all is over all I can see from here is you all I can see from here is you all [Music] is it was getting to the end of the week and it was a perfect time to let the crew have some fun we dropped the ntique in the water and had a rad surf session enjoy the clips of us having fun on the water [Music] [Music] okay so we’re just pulling off a loon just such a beautiful day there’s no wind so no coat saing today so we’ve got what 80% of the crew here with us Cory Paige Franco Alex Nina Tyler he V figured this would be a great time to go out and go to a scuba dive we’re going to go hit the uh Invisibles up which is off of neker Island and uh let everyone get wet and let’s see what we see so let’s go all right so we’re out at the dive site look at this absolutely butter Cal today the uh girls are all gearing up probably half the crew haven’t even got all the gear I see Tristy there without a mask on so did you forget something when it’s just the crew it’s man for themselves so uh that’s their problem we all we do BU up and do take it safely but at the end of the day everyone is an experienced diver so it’s not like with the guests where we baby them the hallway and make sure that they’re all you know together and safe and everything it’s a nice simple dive right in front of us it’s you know maybe about a 30 to 40 minute bottom of time but uh should be a fun one with all the gang cuz I think this is the first time we’ve had this many crew diving so let’s go get wet woo is [Music] [Music] [Music] all right guys what an awesome dive hey such a great way to end out the Caribbean season but now I guess we got to get back up to Florida back to us [Music] all right then so that wraps up our week here in North Sound with no guests on board I really hoped you guys enjoyed it was a little bit different but uh thank you guys so much for watching like And subscribe and I’ll see you guys in the next video okay okay okay Man Overboard this is not a drill this is not a drill this is not a drill slowing down bjor can you throw that smoke flare please yeah copy that spotted uh you know who is it who is it who’s in the water

  1. The girls are a HUGE part of the whole team. Please let them know how important they are to everything that LOON does. House Keeping is just as important as navigating to the clients. Maybe more, unless you run a ground. Then that becomes really important!
    Keep Safe and Well.
Edit; Paige is my favorite. Sorry Capt. Paul. She just quiter.

  2. Giving this channel another go after watching the Nautistyles video and I must say the content has gotten better. Seems to be another content creator? I don't want to dis the previous because he seemed like a really nice guy. This video is just a little bit more together storyline-wise. Consider me resubsrcibed!

  3. 3D printer engineers dream tech toy right there. Awesome vlog. Just make subs aware to check they are still subscribed. I noticed it had gone comms quiet from Loon on my You Tube only to find that the algorithm had unsubscribed me. Glad to be back. Greg πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

  4. Hi guys and gals. New to your channel so trying to watch as many videos as I can to catch up. A question I have for you is about cleaning products. I know more and more yachts are moving to no chemical products. Do you guys use Bio products on the yacht? and if so in what area's?. Thanks. Loving the content so far
