TAP Air Portugal Flight Lisbon-Faro Declares Emergency #tapairportugal #aviation #lisbon #avgeek
A TAP Air Portugal flight bound for Faro declared an emergency minutes after departure from Lisbon. Information is very limited regarding this developing incident, but here is what we know on this so far.
TAP Air Portugal flight TP1905 is a routine scheduled flight between Lisbon and Faro. It is understood the aircraft involved in this incident is CS-TPQ. CS-TPQ is a 12.9 year old Embraer E190 that was delivered to Portugalia Airlines in May 2016, operating the aircraft for the Express subsidiary of TAP Air Portugal.
TAP Air Portugal flight TP1905 departed Lisbon (LIS) at 1644 local time today, and initially climbed out to Faro. During the right turn to track south, the aircraft declared an emergency and proceeded to descend back into LIS. From there, the aircraft established itself up for an emergency landing after a singular hold to lose altitude.
Courtesy of Aviacao TV, which has a webcam at Lisbon Airport, the aircraft has been spotted being towed off the runway, indicating some form of hydraulic, power or engine issue. This caused the suspension of commercial flights in and out of Lisbon Airport due to the aircraft being stuck on the runway after the emergency landing.
At the time of video publication, the official cause for the emergency was not clear, but with the aircraft having to be towed off the runway, it is most likely an issue with the aircraft itself, which prompted the emergency in the first place.
