SIENA | One of the Most Beautiful Cities in Italy

[Music] hi there good afternoon this is the absolutely incredible city of Sienna in Tuscany Italy a museum there this is the Piaza Del Campo the site of a famous horse race that takes place here in [Music] Sienna a UNESCO world heritage site you can certainly see why look at these just amazing old Medieval Era buildings so my last video was filmed in Santorini gree that was four or five days ago I am still traveling with Anna we caught a flight from Santorini to Rome Italy I guess that was 3 days ago spent three nights there in Rome I didn’t do any filming there so one uh evening then Anna and I went to see the pope speak it was at like 5:00 p.m. well that was the sort of start time 5:00 at this one uh Square because it was Republic Day for Italy June 2nd and so we uh walked across the city to the square turned out to be the correct place but [Music] [Music] after waiting for like 90 minutes then I was just done with standing around and uh Anna wanted to stay so she stayed for that and did in fact see the pop speak [Music] [Applause] and then the next day she went to Vatican City which I had already seen and posted a video of back in 2017 so I was kind of working on the editing trying to catch up with the uh videos from Greece and then just today we caught a bus from Rome 3 hours North to Sienna here staying just one night Anna is in the room taking care of some business and so we’re just staying one night and then continuing on North into other places in Italy tomorrow so I’m going to walk over to the main Cathedral of Sienna Sienna was a very important city of medieval Europe it has the oldest bank in the world continuously operating since 1472 not sure if that time is correct a little hard hard to uh tell because it is currently 5 20 it only has one hand and then a four number at the top that looks like it probably changes and then the number is going around but there’s more than 12 okay so it’s like in Latin numerals 1 2 3 4 5 oh no it is 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 okay yeah it is just 12 uh hours so what is the four not sure about that anyways let’s uh start the walk through the incredible old streets of Sienna here so one of the reasons that I wanted to visit Sienna is because uh I first heard about it when my mom came here I think that was in the 90s or early 2000s she did an Italian language course for 2 weeks and spent two weeks here with a uh local family okay I’m trying to figure out which way the cathedral isn’t far but it helps if you go in the correct direction all right so I think it’s going to be over here and then I will uh do some more random wandering around the plan with this video is for to be one of my one shot Clips just walking through the streets a just phenomenal are we already there is that okay yes that is it from around 1,00 but then it took a couple centuries to uh complete bsto okay can we [Music] uh go inside what have we got here I guess that means no flash when Jal ticket up is there okay thank you one for Russell okay so the ticket office is uh I guess around the corner here as for my uh travel plans for the next couple of weeks then basically Anna is flying back to Mexico she lives in in New Mexico but uh is going to a visit family in Mexico and flying back June 20th so that is in just over 2 weeks and I am planning to fly back probably the same day or around than to the us both because I have more Dental appointments back in Califor California okay what happened to this uh ticket office we’re getting further away from uh the action it seems and also I want to do some camping road tripping hiking maybe Wilderness backpacking back in the US I’ve wanted to do that for a number of years get some real nature Adventures okay here we go but I’m always traveling in the summer so the uh Dental appointments are kind of drawing me back at what is a good time end of June I have a few other ideas for the summer so we’ll see what happens but uh basically an and I are going to do kind of a uh Blitz of traveling heading north into Italy and then uh going through Austria we’ll see where else maybe back to uh Slovakia this looks too easy as far as no line entrance with ticket in hand oh and guess what I have or have not no money no uh cash Euros IET hello uh ticket where there around the corner grazi grazi 5 to come inside and looks like it was definitely worth it this is one of the most incredible Cathedrals I have seen so this is just uh [Music] [Music] floor a little dark so probably hard to see but uh it is truly magnificent [Music] [Music] for [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] so during the uh 5 minutes that I was inside there it started raining so I will do my best to uh capture a little bit more of this just incredible City but I am pretty much heading in the direction of uh somewhere to get out of the rain take a seat get a drink a bar of some sort but uh not that one something a little Cozier looking but let’s try to see a little bit more here resturant San deserto looks closed but uh otherwise could be nice and so I will mention one of our likely destinations quite possibly tomorrow my 95th country San Marino one of the only [Music] Enclave countries in the world okay is this back to Piaza Del Campo I can’t tell what’s going on there yes I think it must be yaza didn’t realize there was a storm on the way and I also don’t want to take a chance at getting this camera wet but uh s is one of only three Enclave countries meaning that it is fully surrounded by another [Music] country yes so Piaza Del Campo it has been emptied out with the rain so the three Enclave countries in the world are Leo surrounded by South Africa and then two inside Italy San Marino and Vatican City Vatican City a little bit more disputed as far as whether you call it truly a uh separate country but I am counting it on my country list of uh countries Vatican City is one of just two countries to have what is called a Observer status in the UN so the other is Palestine and so I guess that means they have a representative at the UN but not full voting capability something like that maybe similar to the uh representative for Washington DC in the US Congress in which there is a representative but they can’t actually vote butth anyways it is about a 4-Hour drive away from here so the uh likely plan tomorrow is to uh rent a car in Florence and then drive to San [Music] Marino okay well definitely not uh The best scenario for uh showing the city at its best but uh at least we had a few minutes there without the rain I’m just going to wander up here a little bit further see uh what we can see but the rain is really increasing and there’s nowhere really to hide here oh there is there but uh as far as if I’m going to walk let’s see what’s around the corner all right where is a uh good restaurant to get dry and and get wet meaning a drink W okay I think that the weather is going to have to uh and this one so I’ll show you what I find to drink hopefully a nice uh cozy very local feeling Place although perhaps touristy because I think that I’m just going to head back to the main Square find something there a local beer here Tuscany spice ale bar poo Sienna looks good let’s give it a [Music] try oh wow that’s amazing really uh unique some special spices in it all right waiting for Anna to come over here for dinner [Music] he [Music] he [Music] he [Music] he [Music] [Music] n [Music]

  1. My friend, this is Louis (also from northern California) you must visit the town of Paestum (Poseidonia) named after the Greek god Poseidon. This place was awesome! (a filming location for the original "Jason and the Argonauts). It is south of Naples.

  2. Great video. I was in Siena in August 2022, really enjoyed my 3 days there. Highly recommend Osteria Bazabuf ristorante. Food and ambience was fantastic at the right price point.

  3. Dear Gabriel … You are velcome in SLOVENIA / LJUBLJANA … There is beautiful castle on the hill in the middle of the city – great wiew all around … ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŽฌ๐ŸŽฅ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿท๐Ÿต๐Ÿ™โ˜ฏ๐Ÿ”†โ™พ

  4. If you're headed north, you should definitely check out the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Byzantine mosaic art in all of Italia!

  5. Hi. Gabriel. I dont know if u have heard. But one of our english doctors.. has died in greece. Is it possible to get lost and maybe pass out on a walk which is rocky etc. Do u know of the area whrre he went walking. Apparently the greek government tells people not to walk there. We thought he woukd be found alive. Not sure what happened. He didnt tske his phone with him either. That isnt good is it. What is the place like do u know. I know u visit greece often. And walk etc. It is very sad

  6. Hi Gabriel, what a beautiful city with a lot to offer. The first thing I noticed is how it is structured. The city the streets and they have beautiful modern shops and stores it's a very well organized city. The church was spectacular there's so much within Italy and you have artists like Raphael and Michelangelo and Titian. I'm glad to see you going to do a trip around the United States because I think it's underserved on the channel even though I know you mentioned that the views on that don't get seen you know don't get viewed a lot but I think the United States gets underserved because most people just think about major cities in the United States and not the countries beauty which are the incredible mountains and countryside and things that people sometimes don't get to see in the media.

  7. From Israel I was in Italy twice in
1985 and 1997. Venice Firenze pisa Rome san Geminiani and
Napoly with avosit to capry Island.
Of course Firenze is the winner

  8. Italy has so many ancient buildings much more than what the UK has got. Here we keep on demolishing the old to build the new in quite a few areas.

  9. Saw a video about the Palio in Siena. It inspired me to visit the city while in Italy, Loved it. Wish I could have been there for the running of the Palio.

  10. Thank you Gabriel, for another wonderful video! Itโ€™s fun that Anna is traveling with you for a while! She is so chill and lovely! When I used to travel alone, Iโ€™d get pretty lonely for a friendโ€™s company, but then Iโ€™d meet up with a new or old friend. It enhanced my long trips. Many thanks for taking us along! 11. The huge image on the floor at the cathedralโ€™s entrance is a scene with Hermes Trismegistus. Thereโ€™s a whole story around that.

  12. OMG! Wow! That cathedral was absolutely beautiful!! Truly stunning!!!! Thank you SO much for sharing that. The thunderstorm that followed was an added bonus. Loved the sounds. โšก๏ธโ˜”๏ธโšก๏ธ
