– The original medieval fortress on the site was built in the 14th century by the Orgemont family.
– It later came into the possession of the Montmorency family, one of the most powerful families in France, in the 15th century.
– The château gained significant prominence in the 17th century under the ownership of Henri II de Bourbon, Prince of Condé, also known as “Le Grand Condé.”
– He transformed Chantilly into a grand estate and a center for political and cultural activities.
