Ep. 151 Un rientro colorato d’OCRA – Il nostro Inverno in CAMPER

Good morning! Hi Mauretto! We say goodbye to Mormoiron a beautiful quiet night in this area where we were only two campers had a great time so now we continue to new destinations that you will see later [Music] In this area there is a quality of Cote du Rhone called Châteauneuf-du-Pape which is considered one of the best red grape varieties in the south of France [Music] These rocks have crazy colors! [Music] Today day dedicated to visiting the Massif des Ocres We are at the Ocres de Rousillon which are these rocky conformations that you see here in the photo. From where the ocher with which the colors were made was extracted other compositions were made The ocher which is this type of rock, this color from which the color also takes its name [Music] Here, however, we are in France we shouldn’t say spectacular or spectacular but here it is magnificent or better yet when we say it’s tres, tres joli Because look at what a marvel of a place that we are! [Music] What crazy colors! [Music] In short, in this area completely covered in ocher which is a very fine powder that is still used as a dye. How was the ocher formed? More than 110 million years ago in this land there was the sea here it was completely covered with sea then over 100 million years ago the sea retreated and left various sediments of different rocks of sands with different formations until strong sun, the drying of the sun, the heavy rains have led to the release of this red earth which in fact has been used in recent times in the last century for the extraction of the ocher itself [Music] Here you are walking right on the ocher… It’s a kind of very thin sand Betty puts on her foundation… her makeup… she puts on an ocher foundation [Music] Behind me you find the beautiful village of Rousillon right next to this Park Les Ocres de Rousillon The village it was unknown for many years then the English writer Samuel Becket lived here after the Second World War and found inspiration for his novels in this very village. And from there he became famous and therefore various actors, artists in short, found further inspiration right here and it began to become touristy and therefore to have greater attraction from all over the world [Music] We read that this soil which is sandy can be seen, ferrous can also be seen from the reddish color of the earth and is extremely acidic and is extremely favorable for the growth of a very particular and unusual spontaneous vegetation in this area of Provence where we are quite far from the sea even if here there were many maritime pines, see these here [Music] Here we say that it is not he must come with white shoes, white t-shirts and when it’s windy because you risk returning with ocher and you could even say when it rains! Yes too! [Music] And then what else is this sand used for? Did you talk about it just now? Even for clay tennis courts, yes on red clay! [Music] This is really fine sand! [Music] So here they explain that Monsieur Jean Etienne Astier of Rousillon invented the ocher extraction process at the end of the 18th century. Which involved: the extracted ocher was wet, mixed, washed and washed again and then decanted and then they had a sort of machinery that allowed this particularly intense color to be extracted. They built these ocher-coloured bridges to be able to cross the valleys but there is really a lot, a lot, a lot of vegetation. You can see that this terrain is favourable, fertile for the growth of spontaneous vegetation. We also have found a street cat or rather an ocher cat… There it is! In love! In love? For me he’s chasing something! Or I found a wild boar! No because he did… wow!!! Verses from when a cat searches… like, like Mauro does every now and then Mauro also does the same thing as that cat. Who knows why Mauretto is always behind me, never in front when we walk, better to specify, right? Now I’m in front! Mauretto moved into pole position! He was behind with the other two so… [Music] So down there at the end there is also Mont Ventoux, the one where Betty told me this morning: Let’s not go up Mont Ventoux because there are too many curves! Fuck it took you even longer to get here anyway it doesn’t matter Here we are just finished the walk inside the Parque des Ocres de Rousillion but a very pleasant walk also quite short just over 1.5 km it would have taken us… the guide it gave two paths, one lasting 20 minutes and one lasting 50, we did the 50 minute one but in reality without stopping it would also be much faster then we stop… stopping to take photographs, to observe it takes just over an hour Park Both the town of Rousillion and the Parque des Ocres are highly recommended, they are very, very nice so if you pass through here we really recommend them! Entrance fee €3.50 per person I would say absolutely accessible, very accessible i.e. the money you give is to do a bit of maintenance to maintain the paths and walkways Now let’s go out, now let’s go out, highly recommended.. highly recommended now let’s get out and go to see the village! [Music] What is Mau? A distiller an alembic for the distillation of grappa! [Music] And finally after months and months of distance we see the Alps again we are in Haute Provence at this moment and we are continuing along non-main roads therefore not motorways, not expressways but slightly smaller roads We are surrounded by lavender fields which in the period of June and July they are at the height of their splendor [Music] And instead here in front… now in 10 seconds I’ll show you… there is a delightful little village. Look at it, it’s called Le Mèes with this rocky conformation of … it looks puddingy says Mau Yes it looks like the rock of Portofino… [Music] Once the rocks are finished, the town is finished! Isolate these rocks, they are very strange! [Music] So today we crossed the upper Provence, now we have arrived in the upper Verdon there are the famous Gorges du Verdon next door. the Gorges du Verdon which due to lack of time we will not go, we have already been there in the past but this time we will not do them because tomorrow we already have to be home for various reasons in short so the last stop, the last night out is in Saint Andre les Alpes We are in the middle of the mountains, we are at more than 900 m above sea level in fact it’s starting to get chilly but the place is delightful, it’s really a lovely place, very quiet and so now we dedicate ourselves to a bit of office work: phone calls, emails, video editing, etc. etc. In short, we still have a bit to do throughout the evening… I’ll see you tomorrow at this point and we’ll be on the road back to Liguria [Music] And good morning! Left the car park, gloomy weather, drizzle, a little gray and now we coast the Verdon, the Verdon river [Music] Tu tu…. choo choo, choo…. And after 4 months we returned to Italy! Well yes, we have also left France and we are getting closer and closer to home… Now we are in Liguria… Here it is! [Music] Welcome back to Ronik Soon we will resume with sailing videos [Music]
