damage from bombings and heavy fighting the building lay in ruins for many years serving as a potent symbol of the war’s destruction the rebuilt Reich dog completed in 1999 is a masterpiece of architectural design blending historic and contemporary elements seamlessly one of the most fascinating facts about the building is its efficiency to produce energy the Dome of the building is heart of Berlin historic district the museum occupies a prestigious location on unin lyen Boulevard near the iconic Berlin Cathedral and Museum Island the museum was established in 1987 with the merger of two institutions the Museum of German history in East Berlin and the Deutsch’s history’s Museum in West Berlin its mission is to present and interpret German history in an engaging and
