Europes MOST DANGEROUS City – Catania ๐ฎ๐น
welcome to Europe’s most dangerous city katania I could kill you yeah I know I could kill you that’s a true fisherman I love Kat how long have you been here for 7 years does the mafia still like exist or does it know you don’t know good morning chops now Italy is famously shaped like a stiletto boot isn’t it where we are here if you could imagine where the big toe would be that’s where we are but today we’re heading over to the football if you like to the island of Sicily and this is Sicily behind me here we’re going to catch the ferry and we’re going to explore what some believe is the most dangerous city in Europe Kat it’s like being in the cinemas isn’t it let’s get right to the front so here we are katania Sicily now I must say it’s absolutely beautiful I was expecting it to be a little bit more rundown but in fact it’s stuning as we explore further we’ll mostly find the more grittier places but here in the main Square what can I say bissal so this is katalia fish Mar it’s really loud so I hope you can hear me but all the fishermen these have CAU all this fresh fish most probably the small in the ionian sea and now was selling it to I’m guessing the restaurant owners h your fish wow fish still alive s oh this is the kind of shm shrimp yeah King King Shrimp King shrimp okay are you are you are you fisherman no you’re fisherman you’re a fisherman wow can I hold can I hold so this is a a King shrimp and this is the fisherman that c it come from wow I’m from England Liverpool where Liverpool try that’s a true fisherman you want to try no do I want to try I don’t think so well thanks anyway I’m M that as many of you already know Sicily is the home of the mafia in fact the W Mafia originates from here in Sicily and it translates Loosely to Swagger or brao now with siisy being the be place of the mafia it makes sense as to why katania has such notorious reputation for being dangerous but just before we explore any further let’s get some breakfast what do the Sicilians eat for breakfast what do the what the Sicilians eat for breakfast this one this this is breakfast this one is with breakfast a cani canoli with a shield of biscuits with cheese inside in ity it’s it’s custom to stand at the bar and have one of these small little these espressos these St espresso straight straight straight very strong yeah yeah The Taste yes yeah ameran is much stronger you know okay yeah okay thank you this is mine so this is a traditional Sicilian breakfast apparently I think he said this thing was called the chipolina that’s Rippy in half look that cheese H cheese tomatoes looks great let’s give it a go that’s something special that it’s so soft and this is the canoli filled with ricotta cheese and pistachio nuts let’s give it a go oh now you me say oh thank you very much to say you’re most favorite Busker that I’ve ever seen why don’t you use your mic or yeah out bares oh is that right so you just yeah and how long have you lived here for I’ve been in Katan about 5 weeks is that it yeah would you is is katania safe it depends because apparently it’s the most dangerous city in the whole of Europe have you witnessed that the thing is like I’m a street yeah so like I don’t [ __ ] with a street yeah yeah when we gu of a night time it becomes a bit more dangerous time that’s fine the thing is like I’m street so like I don’t [ __ ] with the street because every street in every city is dangerous I’m [ __ ] dangerous I could kill you I know I could kill you but I could like I’m trained every day to like I do MMA and fighting every single day oh please don’t do that I’m not going like if you [ __ ] with me maybe I would so you shouldn’t [ __ ] with me before I came here to katalia I did a little bit of research and there was one area called sillo and there was a couple of Forums on Google which said stay well away it’s an oo Zone it’s the red light area of katania I’ve just looked on Google Maps and I’m right in the heart of it so I can either te back or continue through it so that’s what I’m going to do it’s not too bad anyway so far I’ve got a feeling as we continue it’s going to get a little bit rougher okay thank you thank you so over over here in Italy they have book makers but they’re also pubs as well so we’re going to put on a b and have a beer I love katania katalia the best the best they best so got this this lady here I’ve said to her using Google translate I’m going to put a 5 bet on she’s going to pick the dog and if it wins she’s getting half the money so here’s our bet here we’ve got fiveo on number three if it wins we get1 1975 well we got half of it cuz we’re going to give half to the lady in F King no wi no unlucky fed nice to meet you from England yeah I don’t understand so we’ve got our Sicilian Be Ma it’s really nice hello hello hello I’m getting to over spliff here so can thank you when in Rome or when in cily cheers just with the locals s they don’t speak English unun yeah yeah it’s a laugh though isn’t it thank you byebye thank you thank you thank you now that was an experience really if I was a local that’s where I’d be hanging out samb burillo I don’t see what all the fuss is about it’s fine I’m [ __ ] look it’s beautiful it’s peaceful it could be a different place at night time what of a daytime I feel safe you may have noticed as I’ve been walking around the city a lot of the buildings like this one here behind me they like a blackish charcole color and the reason for that is because we’re so close to mount ety the active volcano so the S and the ash travels down and it actually stains the buildings here in katalia that’s why it’s nicknamed the black City it’s a city that’s been destroyed on several occasions by the volcano but each time it Rises From the Ashes no wonder the calian people are so resilient so last night I was watching the football in the hotel room and um at half time an advent came on the Telly for a soft drink it was like a Scarlet red color in like a triangular shape glass and uh when I seen it before I’d love to try that so I’ve been looking for it everywhere today and eventually I’ve just found it look at that it’s called Camp party soda so let’s give it a go no that’s a very distinctive taste it’s it’s bitter very bitter you’re not supposed to drink that on its own it tastes a bit like J but it’s not it’s non alcoholic so this is f oone Market not too sure how to pronounce it but you’ve got to love the Italian markets they so loud so much life all the store owners doing the very best to sell the produce oh very nice ballis Mo ballis we’re going to tr some [Music] oh thank you Sor thank you thank you we got some pineapple here good pineapple they beautiful Kat number one I’m always intrigued by these little flea markets because I always have a feeling that there’s one item amongst all this junk that’s an absolute treasure that’s worth I don’t know hundreds of thousands maybe it’s that who knows maybe that or that where do you from you’re from Sagal what’s it like living in Italy do you like living in Italy how long have you been here for uh seven years seven years okay yeah and you’ve done this for seven years sell t-shirt what’s your name Ali hello Bangladesh from Bangladesh okay and how long have you lived here for bades you speak English English how long have you lived here how many years in Italy you like living in Italy okay thank you there’s lots of Africans working and living over here in Sicily and when you think about it Africa is not too far from Sicily is it so they most probably immigrate over and settle here in Sicily but also there’s loads of bangladeshis as well and you see them in the marketplace the Italians the bangladeshis and the Africans all working together and all having a laugh together it’s great strange character [Music] all across Europe especially around the Mediterranean you’ll find these types of marketplaces and they’re all very similar even this one is similar to the others but this one is most probably the favorite one that I’ve been to this it’s just full of characters there’s a great energy about the place it’s like a maze it’s massive you can buy absolutely anything here but I’m getting a little bit hungry now so I think we’re going to go for some dinner so we’ve stopped here for some lasagna let’s give it a try that’s a good [Music] lasagna oh yes I see one England the best this is Madu from Sagal Sagal yeah how how long have you lived here in Sicily yeah s years here seven years what’s what’s it like living here yeah here have good time they have Sun yeah nice nice here how how did you come from Sagal to here yeah I come from Sagal Greece in Italy oh really yeah what do you prefer Greece or Sicily yeah Sicily Sicily okay he would say that cuz he’s England I play for England Sagal England England beat me 3-0 water gas oh oh very nice it’s been an exhausting day and now let’s see where we’re staying tonight I’ve been carrying this bag around all day because I wasn’t able to check in until the afternoon so let’s see what it’s like Anyway apparently it’s this [Music] way this is an old lift this let up we make it to the top floor lift going up got some K is Dick is [ __ ] dick [ __ ] theck [ __ ] is me okay and is perfect no not little is perfect you know Sicily it’s famous for the Mafia the mafia are from Sicily originally yes now I am a big MAF you the mafia okay well I was going to ask the mafia exist or does it I don’t know I don’t know you don’t know no comments I don’t know I don’t see yeah nobody likes to answer that question see you now yeah bye-bye finally got rid of him I better be quiet he’s only next door why are B&B owners always absolutely crackers this is me room by the way we’ll call it Rusty three beds all to myself and a couple of a couch and two chairs but look at this for the view now that’s biso isn’t [Music] it it’s been a long day I was up this morning at 500 a.m. I got to 6:00 a.m. fed ready over to Sicily and now it’s about half 4 so it’s been a long day recording and what do we think on katania is it really the most dangerous city in Europe I don’t know I mean over night time it’s most probably a lot more dangerous than what we’ve just seen I felt safe don’t get me wrong it’s full of characters it’s a City full of characters they’re so loud bold animated but um I really like it it’s a great City I’m going to go now anyway and have a lie down I think but as always remember to like subscribe and leave me a comment and I’ll see you all on the next one from katalia Sicily Ara

A brilliant, colourful, interesting video. An exciting Italian region explored with itโs shady reputation enthusiastically presented professionally with the usual good humoured style.
I have been to Italy more times than I can count, never been to Catania though. I have just been to Palermo in Sicily. Had a trip to Trapani planned by Italy was hit by airport worker strikes and my trip was cancelled. Loved this video such a lively city full of character and you gave a very entertaining glimpse into it. I bet the shrimper early on in the video would be a right laugh after a few beers. He gives me that vibe.
