☆Bits of knowledge〜Deep Fried Tofu〜
Deep fried tofu also known as Namaage or Atsuage in Japanese is fried Firm Tofu. In the West Region(Kansai) of Japan it is called Atsu-age, whereas in the East Region(Kanto) it is called Nama-age. By frying with hot oil, deep fried tofu can be cooked leaving the inside left untouched raw, which is where it gets its name because ‘Nama’ means ‘Raw’ in Japanese. Namaage is found listed with other fired foods on most recipe sites.
