Phillipines last frontier, Palawan. #philippines #palawan #puertoprincesa #adventure #travel #fun
welcome to midlife travel tals here we are we’ve arrived in uh um PTO Francesa Palawan Philippines there’s our tuck tuck driver so uh yeah we’re going to get a lift here it’s uh going to all fit in here all fit in let’s can you take that there we go and I’m going to try and fit in here hello hello for YouTube okay we’re all in and here’s our luggage at the back here and uh our driver money how you doing hot how was the flights flights were tiring but we made it yeah so now we’re here for 2 days and then uh we go to Port Barton to Port Barton wow okay let’s hope we get to our flat 25ks Okay so we’ve arrived at our BMB accommodation we’ve done Airbnb for two nights and here we go hey my honey yeah it’s small but for two nights it’s small for two nights is fine there’s a bed we’ll fit on it not easy to find um something in your in our budget in in Puerto Princesa yeah the the prices are a lot more than Thailand I think and not more I think I know yeah so this is it work well do you want to turn on the light for the bathroom so we got a fridge and that and little kitchen it’s very clean and we got a shower just turn on the light for the shower there we go that’s very clean the main thing I how qu it’s going to be we got coffee and tea we got a fridge yeah got a TV okay we’re well done my honey yeah so we found a little uh vegetarian restaurant that’s the only one we could find so what vegetarian meal are you having honey I don’t know but it’s vegetables tofu and beans yeah and I’m having some kind of soup thing it taste quite nice and I ordered a bread cuz I need something to I needed stuff to pill up so we woke up this morning and we need some breakfast we in an air m b so there’s no breakfast and we didn’t get to the shops yesterday we’re going to try this uh little cafe called 89 and then down here is our first side of the sea we’re going to wander down there just now so this is pora Francesa and uh all the little vehicles coming fast all the cars everybody going about their daily lives our first proper Taste of uh the Philippines very cool so here has the little place inside looks very neat good morning good morning morning it looks really neat there Cindy very friendly guys so it seems great H yeah and it’s air conditioned air conditioned which is a bonus here so I’ve got a delicious cappuccino that’s arrived this is Cindy’s breakfast how’s this bread how’s the bread nice fresh bread it looks like scrambled egg and how’s your coffee great great cup of coffee a great cup of coffee okay so everything’s great so far this is looking good usual got hungry rather than into the YouTube channel so this is pancakes with red berries red cherries red cherries absolutely delicious really recommend it look at that probably the biggest pancake I’ve had in Southeast Asia and for once it’s not a banana pancake oh do you cook the food oh no oh is they cook Barista oh you’re the Barista well the coffee was excellent thank you so well done guys what a lovely place recommend this place in Puerto Princesa excellent so here we are at Puerto Princesa must be the harbor or the what would you call this probably the harbor eh it’s a harbor a harbor if it’s the harbor there seems to be a walkway we’ll going to walk around there big ship at the end there so Mone your first impressions of the Philippines the people are really friendly eh people are amazing just a few that we’ve met so friendly I must say I was a bit apprehensive coming to to Philippines just just for various reasons but I think I’m going to be surprised look the accommodation is a little bit for what you get at this moment on pal one I think all the islands are different you get a lot less for your money here yeah you get a lot less for your money and food is it’s also more it’s more expensive definitely than where we’ve been yeah but this is palan we we’re not sure different Islands so we’ll see as we go along yeah thank goodness for the breeze today but there is Puerto Princesa with the palm trees we love these signs around Asia this one says stay healthy jog exercise be happy smile relax enjoy life so money the only one we’re not doing at the moment is jogging and exercising although we do walk a lot Cindy makes me walk everywhere so I hope that counts but we have we have to tell you about a sign we saw in Vietnam at um katar island or not a sign it was in the instructions in the room yeah in the hotel what did it say exactly you remember it said wild animals then what did it say you’re not allow to bring wild animals into the hotel consumption consumption or cooking or anything we were thinking what the hell are people eating in their rooms and this was kind of a luxury hotel and what’s going on in this hotel only in Vietnam so where we walking now is quite interesting it’s called the Porto Princesa bay walk and it was the site of a former sea plane base of the United States the area witness battles between Japanese and Americans and Filipinos and October 1944 bombing missions done by the US sunk several enemy ships docked at the bay and D destroyed hostile planes at the a strip the American prisoners of war that survived the December 1944 palan maso used the Waters of the bay for their escape so there’s a little bit of History how’s that for a lovely yacht out there in the middle between those two other boats looks great as always I’m on the lookout for some street art and this was a mural painting competition so there’s a bit of street art in puera Francesa I think I should start a book or a a s just on street art around southeast Asia so this is pretty cool some some decent ones so the one thing we’re getting to see a lot more here than elsewhere in Asia is uh churches again everywhere else is temples and uh pagodas and pagodas yeah this a little church s rapael Chapel just an interesting thing is that we’ve noticed that all the windows along streets have bars on yeah I’ve showed it and and wire the the bar wire and bar wire fencing so there is and the shops have like chicken wire around the entrances and that so there is a little bit more petty crime and and crime here and anywhere else we’ve seen in Asia I think it’s the first time we’ve seen bars on the window since back home it is so here’s the Immaculate Conception Cathedral actually absolutely beautiful was probably uh built by the Spanish we’ll find out more about it let’s see if we can see but look how beautiful that is absolutely gorgeous here we go this is the main entrance see there’s uh repairs going on in the ceiling some problems with the look how beautiful this is it’s uh interesting the roof is really really interesting it’s different there Thomas Philip it’s the different Apostles it’s the the 12 apostles depicted up there and he has the alter area just really really beautiful so czl Moreno who uh is the he is the co-founder of Porto Princesa I yeah the First Missionary First Missionary and co-founder of Porto princo and he did in 19 1870 did the first uh mess mess 1872 right here where this cedral now stands interesting so we found some Old Fort Gates don’t know how old this is this is a war from a war one of the wars this is a site of where the Palawan Massacre took place in 140 150 American soldiers were burned to death by the Japanese June 1944 place of huge historical significance to the Americans in World War II so only 11 out of the 150 survived the massacre due to Filipino gorillas who rescued it and protected them wow here has a memorial to all the slain uh victims a whole lot from US Marines US Navy US Army very powerful statue wow look at that that is such a powerful statue we are at the the memorial for the American soldiers the palan massacre site and this is Jackie and this is Jackie and Jackie has been to South Africa she know she loves South Africa and loves all the animals yes you are right they really love the animals in South Africa that actually one of the unforgettable experience are there was the walk with the lion we love the animals we love the animals and Jackie you enjoy living on in PTO Princesa yes yes I am living here in PTO Princesa how many years I’ve been here more than uh 10 years wow we we actually migrated here my family and I came from the northern part of the Philippines okay yeah and P Princessa actually and the whole province of Palawan is a Melting Pot of migrants from all over the Philippines and other countries as well oh wow that’s a please come and visit here and Jackie’s been so friendly to us she be giving us and helping us so Jackie it is so nice to meet you likewise likewise and God bless thank you so much thanks and Jackie’s a new subscriber as well yay thank Youk enjoy your stay thank you bye bye we are in a tricycle again there Cindy sitting in the front there’s our driver [Music] wo taking us to taking us to the capital Museum we’ll get the proper name when we get there we got a Jackie our friend uh said we should go there at the back that’s what it looks like our friend Jackie out of all the museums in town recommended this one the palan Heritage Center and so we’re going to go and have a look up I don’t know how much the entrance here is all of that we’ll find that out now the yeah this is the palan Heritage Center you guys are on YouTube ladies on YouTube yeah yeah so this a yeah midlife travel Tales hello hello hello we’re inside and there some beautiful art it’s Christ Last Supper some of the tribes down South still live in caves like that 400 years of [Music] Christianity these are the winners of the local painting competition there some weapons for hunting and this is the uh cariban and the D so that’s for the blow gun and they put poison to it to paralyze the animals okay and the poison is coming from a kind of a plant which they called the and it can paralyze the other for like 3 to 5 seconds so there’s some heads of the walking you can see the head of one walking stick is the skull of a monkey 28 to 35 years old that’s the earliest proof of human existence in the Philippines here we go we are at the Palawan uh butterfly place and they have the rare palan peacock feasant which is so cool tandan T so because of the such a beauty of the Mika it became the official seal or OFA since 1970 since 1970 hey the official Additionally the M pick up on spread his tail once he the and the fale because of the is the palan Bearcat I know we were showing it you in captivity but they were rescued as babies and they unique to Pal one so chance to seeing it in the wild is almost zero but yeah we seeing it here same as the bird there she’s holding the Scorpion oh my God you’re very brave you’re very brave hey you’re very brave both of you you want to hold no I don’t want to hold it that’s what the palan peacock peasant looks like when it opens its uh its wings but look at this this is such a lovely map of uh poan so where we are now Porto princess we are here okay we did want to do balak which is all the way down here come show everybody where it is but the tours were all full and you can’t go on your own otherwise you’re not going to get food and look how close it is to bouro but bck is like the last Last Frontier R and very rustic if you stay very rustic but we I’m still Keen to do that one day so we are going to come back and do that we’re going from Porto Princesa to p no no to Port Barton Port Barton and then we going to alido and then we going to coron so we got quite a trip ahead of us are you excited yeah I’m not looking forward to the minivan and then from Kon we flying to Bohol another Island so this is very cool and hopefully we’ll get to see Tay which is one of the Spanish thoughts uh thoughts and was the capital of palan [Music] that’s lovely that’s a lovely song that’s a lovely [Music] song really amazing that is so cool [Music] okay perfect so that’s the way they hand back in and uh among all of the tribes that we have here in the Philippines we are the only tribe who uses blow dart or saan they are not using bow and AR you know okay so in just two stripes the uh is visible yes it’s like is it for them just to create a fire but I try myself it’s very hard for me it looks easier uh there’s an electricity not working so every day have electricity every day okay so danne’s about to hold this path in rather him than me h do that feel it feels weird to be holding a snake we haven’t held a snake in a while yeah careful look at that wow you haven’t held a SN for a while well I’m glad you haven’t feels lovely yeah that’s cool little girl is and so sweet hello hello hello there’s the young lady Cindy hello she’s cute yeah this is where the cooking all happens he has the actual houses fascinating another place that’s been recommended here in Porto Princesa is the Palawan wildlife rescue and Conservation Center one of the largest that’s long so this crocodile is one of the biggest ever Rio I don’t know how big he is but he looks like about 30t like huge years old and he is huge his name is from from south of palawa these salt water crocodiles We Believe can grow up to 7 m long and live about 100 years old if you see them in captivity I’ve seen Nile crocodiles thank you so much I’ve seen Nile crocodiles that are huge but these are monsters these make n crocodiles look like not midgets but smaller um and just uh you bump into that in the ocean wow terrifying there is a rare video of Cindy holding a crocodile so that’s very cool Cindy got swallowed by a crocodile but uh we’ll get her out just now you having fun in there honey no out he has a bearded Pig indigenous to palan look at that absolutely gorgeous look at that pretty boy look at him eating the food look at that my honey what did you think of the crocodile Place uh yeah it was all right it was great to see those um salt water I’ve never seen such a massive crop no it was great seeing that but the the whole um thing looks a little bit run down it’s not really well kept yeah and theit sad and also the tourists here uh kind of a little bit crazy everybody’s hitting the cages and making funny noises very loud yeah which they shouldn’t be doing it says please don’t do that but somehow they’re all doing it but uh seeing the saltwater crocodiles was amazing the Highlight yeah yeah so that was definitely the Highlight if you’ve never seen a salt water crocodile before I do recommend this place but uh it’s not great on other areas so can you all see Cindy is very very happy from the sublime to the ridiculous we’ve been out looking at other things and local Villages and whatever else and now we’re at the mall they have a mall in PTO Princesa she is so happy are you are you happy my honey we found you a mall Y and it’s air conditioned it’s air conditioned here in fallan in PTO franccesco they have a mall so we got to find where it is one of the things uh people talk about coming to to Porto Princesa is uh the brewery so yeah we are paleno Brewery we’re going to come see what it’s like yeah paleno Brewery hello how’s it man how you doing this is paleno Brewery lovely looks lovely always Cindy and I are early everywhere we’re not late night people but there’s a stage for uh live music and we’ve ordered a beer taster it’s already got a nice little Vibe looks great with the pal this a flap style is a good which one’s the best which one is your best uh whatever you want huh uh this a um American um that one that one’s good okay okay thanks man this is the Palo one honey kulch and uh it only comes in the bottle so we’ve decided uh that’s I ordered that one and I that’s my favorite one so if you come here to Puerto Princesa the pal pal palan honey cul and you liked as well no I’m going to have one cind Cindy’s paying the bill and uh so what does that read it says the Last Frontier which is palan is considered the Last Frontier I know that first craft be Palawan Philippines I do recommend that so come along and have a drink here if you’re ever in palan seems to be like a little dance competition down there and uh ladies are dancing and having fun check yeah there they go doing their moves very cool so guys sometimes it’s not good to order burger especially in a foreign country it was horrendous but it was cheap so Cindy’s very happy with cheap 190 pesos with two pizzas and chips no two hamburgers HG two H and chips but it was so it it wasn’t great the tomato sauce was the best thing about it and then Cindy said I ate too much tomato sauce yeah he got to stop eating all the sugary tomato sauce so the rule is if you can find a decent restaurant find it although this was recommended but for the pizza and we decided to have hamburgers you decided I decided yeah we should have just stuck with the pizza but the joys of being in a in a new city and a new country let’s hope we don’t get fat or hungry one of the two so uh we’ve been in pter Princesa one day we leave for Port Barton tomorrow and off the sidewalk Yama honey don’t fall down a hole some of the sidewalks have uh big holes in them so you just got to watch out for that and and uh the one thing we haven’t done is the underground river and that’s very that’s the one main thing that’s recommended that is the main thing that’s recommended yeah everybody said it’s it’s the main thing to do the reason we didn’t do it is we’ve just done underground rivers in ninin and uh we’ve done a few now and we’ve done a lot of caves and we’ve done a lot of caves and we’re on a budget so we just felt we could spend that money on something else island hopping island hopping uh that’s why we came here so but the you must realize that the UNESCO underground river is very recommended it’s a world heritage site so although it’s not in our video another hole step over although it’s not in our video uh we recommend it but uh we’ve done other things today as you’ll see on the video but uh you’ve enjoyed Porto Princesa don’t fall in have you enjoyed Porto princes honey yeah SP F only had one day but we actually saw a lot yeah and uh the people are extremely friendly eh very friendly and it’s quite easy to get around lot of tricycles tricycles everywhere cheap so we really have enjoyed Porto princo I wouldn’t stay here for too long no no you don’t need to be very long although there’s a lot to do down south which sadly we won’t do this time but uh but we’ve had fun pora franccesco been great yeah we’ met some great people as well we met some lovely ladies and and some good guys so it’s been a good time
