Unexpected CHANGES to Palma de Mallorca Airport | June 2024

so we’re traveling home to see the family today after quite a long time I cannot wait but what is our journey going to be like today now with all the flights delays and cancellations that we’ve been reading about in The Press let’s see what our journey is like today now you can see that the airport is pretty busy this morning we’ got a lot of flights heading out let’s go and check the departures board so morning times you’re going to find a lot of flights going out particularly over to the UK and Germany just looking up the departure board here I can see with got a delay on a couple of flights heading on over towards Germany but otherwise everything looks like it’s running as normal this morning I can’t see any delayed signs on the departure board anyway let’s go check out the the check-in desk and going and see how busy those are actually it’s looking very very busy over at the running desk this morning the flights do open 2 hours before travel and oh my goodness me check out the EasyJet check-in desk here it is extremely busy now thank goodness we only traveling with hand luggage this morning but my warning to you this summer is when you’re coming back to Palmer Airport please get back to the airport in good time get here in good time for your flight as well even before 2 hours cuz check out the cues we have today my goodness it is so busy now I know many of you will be coming over to Mya on holiday for maybe even a twoe holiday you’re going to want to bring your suitcase if you are self- packaging if you are going with easy jet or with Ryan Air may actually be worth taking a look at how much stuff you’re bring over with you see if you can just bring a cabin bag so you can avoid these kees okay so looking over at security this morning we’ve got about a 4 minute wait to get through which is pretty good doesn’t seem to Big way over at security this morning anyway let’s go and head through I’m going to go and put my my phone away so security took less than 5 minutes to get through which was great to see if you saw a journey coming through the airport at Easter well you would have seen the huge cues that we had at security but it’s fantastic to see that it’s much better staffed as we’re heading on in this summer because well of course that airport is going to get a lot lot busier now Ren duty free do you know what with the amount of people that we have traveling through duty3 and it is looking very very packed we’re not going to hang around in dutyfree actually always give the advice that that we should really get through passport control heading to the UK don’t linger around in here because don’t forget there are dutyfree shops over different Terminal A too anyway we’re going to head on through security now don’t forget actually if you don’t get a chance to get any souvenirs in your Resorts where you can get everything here they got wine you’ve got uh snacks you’ve got olives hamon Serano as well but anyway we’re going to go and check out the departure board that’s going to see what it’s it’s like this morning so good news this morning we’ve got lots of last calls we’ve got lots of boarding signs as well can’t see any signs of delay this morning it looks like the airport is pretty much running as normal whereas our Bristol flight let me have a look our gates been called we’re over on a21 let’s head on over now let’s going see what passport control is like today now I’m hoping it’s not going to be too busy but I suspect it will be it depends how many people they have on uh on passport control this morning there do seem to be quite a few flights heading out to the UK as I’ve said not just easy jet we’ve got lots of Ryan a going out we’ve got lots of package holiday flights too also got a lot of people sitting here waiting as well anyway let’s head on over now to Terminal A and don’t forget too that I do believe there more food options over in Terminal A we’re going to go and hopefully check them out if we have time let’s take a left okay so we’re heading down towards area a you can see it’s actually quite slippy down here just uh be careful if you’re coming down heading to the VIP area look to the left hand side which is over on B always wondered why there’s no Terminal B but um it’s still the left there’s a little escul and the leftt going down to the VIP section anyway so far so good can’t see an awful lot of people this morning heading towards terminal ler I suspect many are still stuck in the the checking queue over in the EasyJet check-in desks or at the jet 2 desks so hopefully we’ve made a bit of a head start this morning just by taking hand luggage let’s see so I see an immediate change here as we’re coming down towards Terminal A it looks like they’ve got rid of the electronic Gates which are normally on the right hand side I think things will change around a little bit down here let’s kind have a look [Music] [Music] so my goodness that was a pleasant surprise this morning over here at Palmer Airport we’ve just come through security much improved security and as you can see as well on the video as we came through they’ve got plenty more checkpoints it’s not just the the two checkpoints that we used to have before we’ve got many more to cope with the huge amount of uh flight traffic that we’re going to have this summer and we enter into the dutyfree Hall as well brand new dutyfree Hall safety getting stuck actually in the main duty freeh hole a little bit further back and then coming out to a whole different range of food options as well they’ve got a new food market come on let’s walk on through so to my left you can see we’ve got a pope eyes it’s kind of like a chicken shop area first we’ve got this new uh like takeaway pastry place as well little Bakery area too it’s all very new you can see it’s just been built there’s also brand new Subway as well and a sushi bar I can see way off in the distance tell you what though they could have done with putting the air conditioning on in the dutyfree as we came on through passort control just there it was rather stuffy but you can see they’ve done a lot of work over here recently well the difference we’ve come right out into the gate area let’s go and check out see if we got an update with our fight I can see they’re boarding a good almost hour actually 55 minutes before our flights due to takeoff from a21 I suspect it’s to try and get people through dutyfree now if you do just want a bottle of water they do have the water machines here you can pick up a bottle for around €110 bottles of water now have gone up to €150 well prices have gone up just about everywhere why not over here at the airport too and the lose as well just as you come out of uh passport controller to your right hand side after the the food area Okay so just come out of the toilets there’s actually no soap in any of the the ladi’s toilets this morning which is like slightly gross there’s also no like Hangers On The Backs of the doors either they are brand new bathrooms I guess they’re they’re still remodeling I hopefully we’ll see some soap and some uh some handbag hangers cuz I really hate putting my stuff on the floor in those L but anyway let’s head on down to gate a 21 this morning that’s a little bit less busy down this far end of the airport we’ve got the very empty Burger King that food Hall that we passed a little bit further on there’s a lot lot busier you see the special assistance area as well which I guess it’s going to be the waiting area if you’re coming in on special assistance before you’re taken to your gate okay so here’s a top tip for you there are other leaves on the left hand side of Burger King as you’re actually facing Burger King they’re a lot less busy they have soap in the dispensers I’ve just discovered and that that they’re pretty empty we have a few flights boarding down here but um I’d say the the most congested point of the airport is going to be at where the food hle is up on the far right hand side to me here so if you don’t want to wait in the cues for L come on down towards a gate a21 you’re going to find a much cleaner experience so you can see down here at Terminal A the whole remodeling actually doesn’t look too bad looks really good and all the gate areas here they’re all very much Airport runway facing to they’ve got a lot of seating now now facing the runway too while you’re waiting for your flight and not very many um laptop stands laptop areas I’ll show you look so if you’re over here on business I’ll show you one area here so we’ve got a few plug and charging points over here maybe that’s a Wi-Fi Point as well so we got a couple of desks on every gate area I don’t personally think it’s enough but um I guess we’re going to be having more holiday makers coming through here so what a change over here at Palmer airport particularly over here in Terminal A I think it’s looking really good actually what the difference the last year and well we’re going to see what it’s like as we go on through the summer the biggest change actually is the whole passport security area has been completely updated it’s been upgraded um I could see it’s a shame I couldn’t film it but you can see that they’ve got their security points for the electronic points for passports coming in there a lot more desks as well to cope with the the huge amount of Travelers that we’re going to be getting this summer too and also it’s going to be making a way for the new entry and exit system as well the electronic system which will soon do away with the passport stamping too but um we got through really quickly with us like no weight whatsoever uh passport control because I know that we have seen cues building up here particularly on a Friday for some reason I don’t know why why Friday is a pain point over here at Palmer airport just mainly because of the amount of people traveling but it looked pretty good now as we came through passport control you enter straight into another dutyfree area so my recommendation is is that if you’re traveling this summer particularly in peak season get through that first dutyfree area don’t hang around there because it’s very very busy then come down go through the passport check area get your passport checked and you’ll enter straight into the brand new dutyfree area for Terminal A from there you’ll come straight out into a brand new food ho where you’re going to find um chicken popey’s chicken fast food you’re can to find some sushi you’re going to find a bakery um also you’ve got the drinks machines as well if you just want to pick up a bottle of water for your flight too with the L as well if they’re really busy right near the food Hall come straight down through the terminal here and use the ones near um gate a212 cuz they’re a lot emptier now we are going to see it getting a lot busier over here over the summer it’s going to be interesting to see how busy it gets keep us posted we often have an update over on the M CR of the sun Facebook group from the people coming through so make sure you leave us an update particularly if you encounter any problems over at the airport or indeed if you have a good experience as well just to reassure people coming over this summer but now I think our flight is about to board so I’m going to head on down to the gate and well
